Al, when drilling through the sheet metal, lay a bar magnet in a large baggie near the drilling area. When done drilling, pick up all the shavings with the magnet, then remove the baggie from the magnet over a trash can, and the shavings are gone. It saves time and is safer. Just a tip.
I’ve been watching your journey for many years, from when you were still working. It is amazing to me how much you have learned and the skills you have acquired along the way. Thank you so much for taking us along on your journey!
You said it perfectly, Lisa! Thank you
Same here I believe if he says I'm going to learn how to do something he will❤.
I too have been with you for so long, never ceaces to amaze me how brilliant you are
AND... how they both maintain their Enthusiasm 😊
It's challenge enough to Homestead... but CREATING a homestead... from scratch... that's a HUGE undertaking.
That's an awesome looking system. Al, is there anything you don't know how to do? Absolutely amazing.
Thanks. I love learning new things.
Same feeling Al will do anything he sets his mind to. ❤
Two things are amazing to me after watching this video. 1- how easy you just made that incredibly complicated task look and 2- how even though I didn’t understand a word you were saying, you kept me totally engaged and excited the entire video. I could have been watching a video in an entire different language and it wouldn’t have mattered. Al you are just really good at what you do. Your skill level is just off the charts and your passion for what you do is inspiring. Thank you for taking us along for the ride ❤😊
Good morning Al! Wow! I did not understand one word you said and still was totally fascinated about this solar system! You definitely could install other homesteaders systems for a side hustle. So impressed with your continuous skill levels. Hugs from N.C..❤
Thanks Marin
Good morning, Marin - you said it nicely, probably for all of us - thanks!
Lol, he's just a handyman, he doesn't need a side hustle, he has TH-cam 🤣🤣
Wow- that was mind numbing!! Lol. BUT, I’m determined to learn how to implement solar for my gulf coast home! (Before our next hurricane)… baby steps for me!!
Thanks Al!
@samvalentine3206 Good morning Sam ! Really enjoyed my coffee on this chilly morning watching Al put his system together. May you and yours be blest. See ya'll Saturday. Hugs from N.C..❤️
A beautiful system backed by a company that understands the off grid movement. Can't beat their customer support.
Yea we’ve been very happy with them too
Their definitely on the more expensive side. I like the plug and play. However, their price per kwh is not great at all! So many other options like eg4 in itself woulda doubled the kwh for the same price.
@@InsideTraderNancyin solar power you get what you pay for.
@@InsideTraderNancyI'm sure Grid Down gave him a nice deal in return for the exposure in this video
Al, each nipple is required to have a locknut on each side of the box, 4 locknuts per nipple. This is for grounding all the metal enclosures.
That's an easy fix if he shuts it all down and disconnects all the wires. Then adds the required missing locknuts, re-runs the wire and gets a new permit from the city/county for a new inspection.
Al you never cease to amaze me AFTER WATCHING YOU GUYS GROW OVER THE LAST 6 OR 7 YEARS, what a talented guy you are,,, this project was made to look so easy by your understanding of ALL THE TECHNICAL ELECTRICAL YOUVE ACCOMPLISHED YOU ARE A FORCE TO BE RECCONED WITH FOR SURE CONGRATS ONCE AGAIN FOIR A JOB WELL DONE..
Al you are a man of many talents !! It must make you very happy to see all the green lights come on, GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay blessed all!!
Good morning, Eric. This episode blew me away with all the electrical and technical stuff - I was in nirvana! Thank you Al for the well-filmed installation of one of their systems. Thank YOU, Eric for your blessings, we all need them - may you also be blessed!
Good evening to all Lumnah fans from northern China!
Very impressive system there Mr. Al! You make all this look so easy…..very deceptive I must say. I’m just gob smacked at the comprehensive yet actually simplistic installation and operation of this system that you are using. I think this will dazzle you as well as we viewers how well it will perform for you. Well done there young man! I’m surely impressed.
Good morning - most impressive for sure! Al made it look easy!
@@samvalentine3206 Gooday there Mr Sam. Al’s bad to the bone I must say! 🤭
Did you help build this system?
@@ky.gambler5281 ??? What?
Al & Gina. My wife and I have been watching you since you brought Hope home. I like you're attitude, approach to learning new things and especially your work ethic most of all. Gina, I'm impressed with how you jump right in and your progress in conquering the fear of hight...........and power tools, LOL. Olivia is blessed to have such fine models of a Christian life. May God continue to Bless you and all your viewers
Glad to see you invested in some EMP protection. We have those for our system, as well as our vehicles. Not a lot of money for peace of mind. Good job!
Hi Al & Gina. I have to say i admire your work rate & ability to work around the system.
As for the Moose they look fantastic standing by the house. Take care happy family.
Good morning Al, Gina and Olivia. Well Al you did it again now you've installed your off grid lights . That is a neat system all covered and it has a clean line of products. ❤😊
I have followed you for a long time and I am still amazed at all you and Gina have accomplished.
Yes they are super stars when it comes to learning how to do new things. I would love to see a air shot of before and how..that would blow your mind. ❤
That is a clean system, no wires and junction blocks everywhere. Looks great. 👍
Al, you are truly a Jack of all trades. You’ve proven that there’s nothing you can’t build yourself. You choose to get help with some projects but that doesn’t mean you can’t do it. You save so much money by doing all your projects yourself.
That is one heck of a system Al. I love to watch you work on the install, My son is an electrician and I love to watch him work but he hates to be watched and runs me off when ever we have him doing something at our place I have to check it out after he is done and has gone home. You know how that is, the cost per hour doubles if you watch and triples if you start suggesting things.LOL😂
Al you look like a Pro doing what you do on everything you have learned. You learn very quickly. Well done on you both.
I'd just like to know why Al dubbed his voice in during editing instead of real time. I think he had some professionals on-site.
Great installation, nicely done! In the UK, you need to be certified/qualified to do what you have done. The crazy thing is, your install is far better, safer and neater than anything I have seen UK qualified electricians do
Why did Al dub his voice in after the installation? Curious minds want to know...
Goooood morning Al, Gina, Olivia, and Lumnah Acre friends!🌄😊 Love a foggy morning! Have an awesome day everyone! Gonna be a good one🤩
Good morning Forrest! 👍🏾🤩🐶

Gooooood Morning Forrest
@@homesteadedman4784 HI Edman, thanks!🤩
Good morning, Forrest. :)
Al, you made it look so easy. It’s like you do it every day. A great bit of work my friend. Wow!
They have some great training videos.
Good morning from West Virginia love seeing how close the moose come to the house. Things are looking great.
That is best looking solar system I have seen on TH-cam and you make it look like a walk in the park putting it in and the fact it has worked great for you in your home all this time. That makes me feel that the system I would want.
I don't believe there is anything that you can't do if you set your mind to it. So proud of you all.
AL PLEASE do a video on your planning process. I think we would find it interesting how you think things out and plan ahead. I do a lot of projects myself and it just seems like everything is ready to go for you which I know is impossible. Unless you have 5 or so people doing these things for you. PLEASE...
I love how you hesitated at the very end like “if I can do it, then…… well no that doesn’t mean you can do it too, who are we kidding, but…. you know, within reason, you might” 😂😂 all true man, you’re amazing and for how hard you work, you deserve it 👍
FYI, Milwaukee at Home Depot’s sells a SDS MAX Ground Rod Driver for your rotary drill to make that ground rod job easier, about $40.
I’ll have to get one
Make sure you hammer rotary tool is “SDS MAX” shank, it won’t work with a “SDS PLUS” shank.
@@LumnahAcres🔓🔑🔓🔐🔑☀️☀️☀️💡💡💡📲📳📲📳🈴🈴🚰🚰🚮🚮☀️ good 👍 yes
Al and Gina, this is by far the best and cleanest solar system that I have ever seen or demonstrated, congratulations on choosing this system, I think it was a very wise choice, can't wait to see how well it performs, especially this winter.
I’m a big fan of Al and Gina but you should also check out Country View Acres with Evan and Rebekah . Evan also installed a solar system. Quite excellent .
Al, having driven dozens of ground rods in a former life, I would recommend using your two handed post driver after getting a good start with the sledge. Save time and knuckles.
Very Impressive Al. You did an awesome job!
Our may not claim to be an electrician, but you are an expert to installing a solar system! I’m impressed!
We AL that all went straight over my head but very interesting to watch great job ❤🇬🇧👍👍 love to all
Good 🌄 morning to the Lumnah Family and all visitors to the OGP! Our high is supposed to be 38°F and the wind is from the SW5 to 7 mph. Should be partly cloudy and a good day.😊
May we all have a blessed day!🖖🫖📚🐈⬛🍁🎃🕊🙏
WOW $67,000 + generator + installation x 2 - great idea but WOW ! I wonder how long the batteries last ? and what the insurance companies think of all the stuff being inside the main building ? Great video but WOW ! thanks
Good morning Al, It looks like you are becoming a pro at installing these solar systems. This system does look improved over what the tiny house has. I can feel your excitement for having solar power your workshop. Next, get some heat in the workshop as it will only get colder as time passes. I know you have a lot on your plate, now with trusses on the ground for the barn. Many blessings your way as you continue to shepherd your land.
I've used a magnetic bowl or tray for years to keep the hardware from rolling around. This will also attach itself to the metal boxes you're working with.
Years ago I had to install a grounding rod. I beat and beat on it and it was barely moving. I have a small jackhammer and I decided to take the bit out of it and slide the hammer onto the grounding rod. I pulled the trigger on the jackhammer and it drove the rod into the ground in just a few seconds. One of the best time and effort saving ideas I ever came up with.
an attachment is now sold that fits in a common hammer drill. Just about every electrician I know has one these days.
Al, that was a great install! I don't know how you did all of that without your main helper! LOL
There is no doubt that you know what your doing, I’ve been following your family builds for several years and am really impressed with your knowledge on it all. Your videos make my week, thanks for taking us along.
Gina is getting more and more comfortable in front camera … go girl!!!
I agree go girl❤❤
what is this all about? she wasn't even in this video at all and she has been comfortable in front of the camera for years, none issue, why make this comment, also, why is there 26 thumbs up for it? makes me think there are auto commenting for this channel
@@wavytiger1 she was very shy on camera for a long time...and then when her health problems escalated/in a lot of pain/discomfort was obviously not feeling like herself...but now she appears to be fully recovered, feeling good, and able to get out and do more physical tasks and enjoy herself.

Good morning and howdy howdy, Mr. Ed! This is an amazing system Al hooked up in this episode. Most impressive... Cheers to you as well!
Hello Sam I hope you and Mrs. Sammy are doing well. @@samvalentine3206
That is very nice and clean. As a controls engineer I’m impressed! Your giving me too many ideas Al.
It looks so nice and compact.
Thanks
I know you were speaking English but it was all Greek to me. It’s impressive that you knew how to do all of that.
We were quoted $70,000.00 for a 2500 square foot house from Lion energy . No generator. We’re 68 years old and would NEVER recoup our money on solar. Crazy
I know, right ?
I'm sure this array was over $70K, with what they spent on the other one they will never pay for it either.
Why would you need such a big array for a workshop ??
Good morning! Very impressive, Gina, Olivia and Al! Good job on all the wiring - you made it look easy! Can this system "see" your home wifi? Can you check the status of this system from the comforts of the Harvest House? That's great if your shop and the Harvest House are connected to your same data network. Thanks for showing this, Lumnahs!
Morning Sam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good morning Sam hope you had a great weekend and are looking forward to a golden fall week ahead. A bit like Al, Gina and Olivia the light will seem brighter for them from now on as the shop is now totally off grid so it will seem brighter than if they were paying some electric company for each watt of power.
Let the light shine down brighter on those who only see a spot of light in a deep tunnel.😊😊
@@ericroadking7564 - Hey there, Eric! 👋
