Yeah also the first series is non reversible this one is via a second active wire similar to mistrals the controllers work similar but not the same with a switch on the side of the controller to make it reverse
Nice find. I think these GEC ‘pancake’ models are not very fast. The TAFE I go to for electronics has half the classrooms full of the 36 inch industrial versions and they are not fast for a fan it’s size.

Update: I finally got the original controller wired up and it is working with the fan

Yeah they aren't to fast but for being slow I find them to be good air movers
