I had the same issue on my 2013 Jeep Wrangler 3.6 liter. The oil filter housing which holds the oil cooler was bad. I took off the oil filter housing and unbolted the cooler. I pressurized the cooler and found out the oil cooler had a crack somewhere in the cooler allowing oil to get into my coolant system. I ended up getting a new oil filter housing with cooler, problem fixed. Thanks for posting

I still have the car and till this day and thankfully it hasn’t given me a issue since I fixed it. If I were you. I would do a coolant flush and top off just to confirm. If it’s very very tiny amount it’s usually the coating from the newer vehicles. If it’s almost nothing. If you have a decent amount. Just get it fixed. So far. Since I fixed it have had zero zero issues.

Yeah I’m going to make an update video soon. It happens again to me after 3-4 years. I changed the oil cooler again. But this time it has been revised 3-4x since I last did so hopefully they have worked out the problems
That’s the same questioned I asked my friend. He said it’s pointless to change out the gaskets. He said it’s better to replace the whole unit. So I mean he’s a technician at the dealership. He charges me 1/3-1/2 of the price the dealership charges. So i believe him.

I think it’s fine. Supposedly it’s a coating issue and it just does that. If you don’t see sludge building up and it stays the same I would say your fine. But that’s my opinion if your going off road hardcore and getting the engine hot just be on top of it. Do a coolant flush. If you clean it, do a flush and it comes back then I think you should really check it.
@vehiclemods quick question, I’m going thru this issue right now, just replaced the oil cooler and in the process of doing the whole flush. Did you have to change the thermostat and the radiator hoses? How long did it take you to flush everything out??? Thanks in advance
Bro this just happened to my 2019 jeep compass limited I took it to the jeep dealership they said that it was a cooler failure so they replace a cooler. They also replace the radiator and hose system. They charge me 4600 but two days later I notice that there was a light oil in the cooler system again I called the dealership and they said that it was normal for me to drive it around and take it back so they could do one more flush. I didn’t think it was normal but then I don’t know no better then four days later it happened again, peanut butter on my cooler system, take it back to the dealership. They said that it was the cooler that was defect
It look like my uncle just got this same problem with his jeep compass,, but the garage said, there is nothing wrong.they just clean out his water bottel and that was it...I'm not a mechanic, but my uncle told me he is losing his coolant, but there are zero leaks, but it drips out his exhaust,, the oil in the engine and on the dipstick is clean, it's not mixed with coolant...its just the oil in the bottel, and the coolant slowly dripping from the exhaust...does this sound like what you had...
No. Coolant never leaks thru the exhaust from what I know. The exhaust should burn it or maybe you head gasket is bad it could be leaking thru there. However when this started for me it was just a bit in the coolant reservoir. Just a small small amount. Eventually a year in it was that. It could be nothing if the vehicle is a couple years old I know I’ve read the inside coating can cause a little bit but when you clean it out should be fun. Check it again in a month if it’s their again. Then just do the process of elimination. I ended up changing the oil cooler. That’s what caused my problems. After I changed that it was fine.
My 2012 WK2’s engine had to be rebuilted because of this oil coolant leaking and seems after 5k km i have t go back to my mechanic because i see again oil in the coolant water….:(
Bottoms of radiator. There is a drain screw. That’s how I did. I bought 2 radiator flush/cleaning kits from autozone. Then I flushed it again 2 more times with distilled water
the technician drained as much as he could and he hosed down the bottom connections to the radiator. Then he installed the oil cooler. Then from what i remembered he filled it up with that distilled water i think the baby water. He ran it for about 30 mins to a hour. He drained it did that twice and i believe he ran a radiator cleaner the third time before filling it up with the proper fluid.
I cleaned it my self a couple times before going to dealership with my friend. Which he just used a high pressure hose to get it the rest of the way. But he did mention that I got most of it. That it was pretty much fine.
@@VehicleMods it’s worse than expected. I changed thermostat, radiator, oil cooler and the radiator cap. Run the car for testing ( 108 C ) and find out that there is a mixture of coolant and oil under the oil cup. Now k will change the new oil cooler again if the mixture still there will move to the gasket.
@@mohameddiani2824 I would take it to the mechanic. Idk how to check the gaskets. I assume a compression test will help with that not sure. But I would check that first before spending even more money. I would definitely get a second opinion
Switch out,,Dorman makes oil cooling unit ( not plastic ) cast Aluminum...upgrade. because the oil cooling unit is plastic ( OEM ), IT WILL Happen again ),,put in a new one in 2016,,changed it again in 2021 with cast Aluminum ( only got 40,000 miles on the new plastic one in 2016 )

I did end up changing the thermostat only nothing else I just did to a couple coolant flush with distilled water

Also you might just have a small leak somewhere near by and maybe it’s taking on the exhaust.

No don’t get the aluminum one seems to fail more often. Just get the new OEM one. Jeep has revised it like 4 times now so it should be better.
Also if you order from most direct I think it’s like $200 dollars at the dealership might be like $320-350 dollars
Moparparts or oem parts direct shipping is much cheaper than going to the dealership

If your able to flush it out well and it’s working fine, I don’t see why you should. But I ended up changing it because it had a small leak.

when it happened, the engine ran out of oil?
No it didn’t but it was a little low but luckily I caught in time where there wasn’t any damage at all. I know I’m lucky
