It's pretty cool being able to emulate Windows XP on phones nowdays, considering you had to have a big ol' desktop just to run them back in 2001. Yeah it's not the smoothest, but these phones weren't made to run Windows in the first place. It's a really cool thing to see though. Such nostalgia :)

Maybe in 20 years we'll have Android virtualisation apps that are as good as the PCs we have today, but by that point it'll be about as impressive as this is now.
amazing.. thanks.. now, I can install all my favorites windows apps. Hmm.. let change the windows theme and looks first. Btw, I use this FolderChanger program to enhance the overall look of my desktop and folders. It works pretty well. Google "folderchanger" and you'll find it.

4:52 So if you get a file picker to browse for the OS image, what was the point in copying it to the Limbo folder? You could have just kept it anywhere and browsed to that location later.

Excellent..kept it very simple and it worked like a gem.. Two things i wanna ask one is I've installed ur said xp version in my tablet and the landscape screen is opening somewht near to 80% how to make it 100% wide.
Secondly from whre can we get windows 10 android version is there an update version on xp ?

By "Run" you mean emulate... You need exponentially more power to emulate than to run something natively so this is unfortunately merely a gimmick.

Totally agree with. This dude saying that you can run anything, even Windows 10, but I would like to see how he would try to run it with only 1 emulated CPU core. I have doubts that it would even start, but if it is it would take like forever to boot.

Tostop simulation go to the top right and then select pause vm or virtual monitor to pause and shutdown to end simulation

You can do it if you want. This is kinda like getting a game on android that's on the PC on the android in the PC way. You can use Puffin browser to get the game that's on the PC on the phone like the PC way. 🖥

It basically is a browser that emulates or runs flash. Most mobile devices and browsers are not able to. I used Puffin a few times to go to a video-chatroom site, that doesn't have an app. (Ezcapechat) It works, but right before I log in to the site, Puffin demands that I play some stupid game. A "game" that will probably infect your phone with adware if you install it, since that is what most mobile "games" are. Just carriers for adware and spyware. I HAVE to let it sit there and run, ( I don't actually play it) collecting who knows what info, for at least 30 seconds or it won't open the site. I'm trying to find a way for friends who don't have, or won't use real computers to use the chatroom site. But the asinine "games" and annoying un-skippable ads are too much.

jim k you need to download xp img and then put it into limbo folder...thats why you dont see it

question: i see the windows cursor on screen. you have to move with your finger anywhere on your screen to click windows buttons on your screen rather than pressing directly on the button at location where it appears.
i think this means using a bluetooth mouse on your phone, the android cursor pops up and moves freely without the windows cursor moving with it, resulting in having to click and drag to get the windows cursor to move, then click again when you reach the button. am i correct?
You could buy a really cheap iRulu phone to do this. Would be nice to use Windows 10. If it truely installs the system and wipes away Android and doesn't just emulate it. I'm not interested in emulation though
my phone needs to be rooted to do this my internal storage is 6 gb so I need to use my sd card but it has to be rooted to have apps on sd

If you have a PC with Windows OS just simply get TeamViewer and control your PC from *any* device provided it is networked through an internet connection. This comment is mainly for people who are having trouble installing Windows on their Android device.

Last time I ran Android86 on an old windows tablet that was made for win7, it ran like dookie and most apps did not work. This was about 2 years ago, maybe Android86 has improved. RISC ARM programming on CISC86. This is interesting because now, the scenario is the other way around. CISC86 running on RISCARM, and it seems to be running good. I tend to believe anything over Win7 will run like crap, even on newer phones. I heard rumors that Microsoft was developing Windows 8 or possibly 10 to run native on ARM. I guess that fell through. Now installing Linux using this, sounds like a viable option. "But Android is built on linux". Well sort of, ITS STILL NOT THE SAME!

Well, DeX is not a Windows spinoff, it's basically an Android spinoff. And Limbo is an Android app for emulating Windows inside Android. So in theory, since DeX is still an Android, this can be made to run in DeX.

mostly games. I long to play some old PC games on mobile device because I don't want to sit there for hours playing old games.
The thing is, you need somesort of Virtual Machine to run Windows on Android device. you can't just port PC games to mobile because these PC games use x86 processor architecture to make while most android devices run on ARM or ARM64. That's just the difficulty on processor's part, there are still some Graphic Card, Drivers, and other compatibility issues if we want to use windows emulator on android.

Hard disk A dialog brings up a file manager and the iso file does not show up. Cant select it if it doesn't show. I tried renaming it to XP (has an .iso ext.) no help. I cannot get it to find the image file. It is in the limbo folder as instructed. I even named the machine (step1) identically. Help?

Follow all the steps. Otherwise, glitches like that will happen. You might find you haven't connected Limbo to the .IMG file.

Figured it out. That win10 ISO is fucked. Try mounting it to power iso or daemon tools. You'll find that it wont work.

Complete waste of time, this works through "X86 Emulation", so it will be as fast as installing Windows 10 on a 20+ year old computer.
Nobody needs that.. except for nerds that can wait 30 minutes for Windows to boot up and then say "I have a Pc that fits in my pocket".
Just get a cheap Windows tablet which is a lot faster. Or even a GPD Win which is a 5" laptop that fits in your pocket but with a real PC compatible CPU. ;)
Some of those nerds really are nerds and are interested in ways of getting legacy software up and running on a portable phone. There is so much scientific software out there written for java, flash, even windows itself that was never ported - some of it much better from a technical point of view than anything else available - that it is downright frustrating. It isn't necessarily for just a geek show.
