      I don't understand why he didn't take the block out of line and just hook the hook straight onto the strap or took four clevases and put them on each corner of it and wrapped a chain around it all and hooked the hook back in the middle of it and picked it straight up with that either way

      @@jamesburke5709 for starters, I could have done this about 5 other ways. No need to play the what if game. If this method didn't work, I would have had to take the snatch blocks off. But it worked on the first shot, so why bother? And did you see the video? Each transformer was missing a lift point, they each only had three not four.

      @@jamesburke5709 I'm sorry if I came off harsh, I didn't mean it in a bad way. I just speak very straight forward. I'm ALWAYS open to suggestions. I was just pointing out the second part of your suggestion wouldn't work because the lift points were not all there. For your first part, I didn't feel I needed to remove my snatch blocks because Dave was able to load his transformer, and Big Flipper is a bigger truck than Hulk so I knew I could do it.

    Well done. I can see why the CHP calls Pepe's Towing Service. Pepe's works with what they have, their equipment is clean and well maintained. Pepe's always does a good job. Attitude is everything. Josh is focused on doing a job to be proud of. A minor note: be very careful of transformer oil. It often has really nasty compounds in it: furans (Organic and very nasty) which you absolutely want to avoid. Be very careful of walking through pools of transformer oil and avoid when possible. 😀

      I have fun doing this hard jobs, but I always feel for the drivers in these situations. What might be a fun call to me is probably one of the worst days in the driver's life.

    • @steadholderharrington9035
      @steadholderharrington9035 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The driver that "dropped" that load, was a certifiable idiot in a rush to get his load from Point "A" to Point "B". He didn't even bother to properly secured those transformers to his deck using the proper tie-downs, nor use any cribbing that would be normally screwed or nailed down to his deck to help prevent such slippage. And he sure as hell wasn't paying any attention to the approach speed for the ramp approach to the bridge underpass. Technically speaking, if those transformers had been PROPERLY Secured, you should be able to flip the trailer they were on upside down and not have them shift an inch, IF they were PROPERLY Secured. And I very much doubt the driver will have taken ANY Lesson away from this Entirely avoidable incident except maybe, "Dang Dawg! I done Screwed th' Pooch on that load! Hur-hur-hur-hur..Oh well..." 0_o

    Really nice work here, enjoy your videos so much! Those transformers are so heavy and being filled with fluid, the oil inside shifts badly when they are transported. This seems to happen quite often if the transporter doesn’t know a lot about the load...
    Thank goodness that these were new transformers and just filled with mineral oil. Just caused a big mess but low toxicity... Older transformers were filled with PCB’s (Polychlorinated biphenyls), super nasty carcinogenic oil for cooling and insulation. That stuff was really bad news.

      You never see those in California or any state for a variety of reasons, including permits. It'll be quite expensive, and have very very limited use. That would require getting permission from the dealership. I'd have to send someone down there, get permission, then see if I can somehow manage to get a Landoll into the back part of a dealership where they store hundreds of cars. I fail to see how that was easier than literally just backing up a few feet under the transformers.

    Awesome recovery in a tight space guys. I feel sooo sorry for that audi dealer! twice in quick succession.. first the concrete lorry , now the oil from this.. i think he's gonna be looking for a new yard elsewhere soon! I know you're rigging for 30Klbs as mentioned... but what's the lift capacity with the boom stretched and angled at that 10degree first angle you mentioned and then the 2nd lift at 20degree?

    • @PepesTowingService
      @PepesTowingService  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yup, I have a feeling I will get another call soon enough in that area where that dealership will get impacted again. In that range I can lift about 30-40k lbs.
