Such a nice build! Gearing I a little heavy though... im using a 1x on my road bike with a 46t front and a 10-36 in rear and absolutely love it. Question though about a checkpoint. My new slr checkpoint came with dub wide cranks and im putting on force *non wide. I can't figure out what spacers I need though for the cranks and since you have built so many up do you know what spacers go on drive side and non drive side
yea not a problem, you'll need 3mm on the drive and no spacers on the non drive. www.sram.com/globalassets/document-hierarchy/compatibility-map/road/dub-choose-a-road-bottom-bracket-compatibility-map.pdf
Beautiful build! Me's got a couple/few questions about your experience with the Echo!!! How does the bike handle on gravel descents and sand. Does the double flip chip do the job between road and endurance/gravel setups? Would running a second set of 650b's x 47 increase the stability on gravel if needing to ride on longer mixed "off-roadish" roads with long fast descents? Thanks!
I think it’s really solid. Definitely wouldn’t say it’s optimal for long descents but I don’t think it’s bad at that. The road mode does feel significantly different
I would have gotten this bike but that stem cable system was a deal breaker . With being a dual mode bike I would desire to change up stems for different types of riding and this would have been a nightmare . And tell me what will happen to that rear brake hose when you crash and the handlebar comes all away around !?
I think if you crash that hard you’ve got more to worry about then a hydraulic hose. They are super flexible to begin with and cheep to replace so I don’t think it’s a huge issue. The bike is also able to run a normal stem so I don’t understand your point.
@@bicyclestation special order ! I like the bike man, I almost purchased one , it was a heard decision but combined with the stem design and the price I have to pay in Canada it wasn’t worth it at this time .
I was worried about that but 6 months later it looks completely fine. I think it’s flexible enough and you’d have to like 360 the bars to really damage it. The bar would break the top tube before the hydraulic hose
Man the greasing of that headset was not done properly… Did you do it off camera? Also, there’s a tool to cut hydraulic cables flush, shouldn’t be with a cable plier. Bike looks cool though.
We have that tool. Maybe I couldn’t find it when we were filming this. It was a while ago. Greased off camera. It’s a balance between showing the whole build process and making a video that’s interesting to watch.
This chain is not a good idea with the red cassette, cause the gaps in the cassette are wider. It will react like a worn cassette. So be careful on a sprint.
Black ink is the component and wheel brand of Factor bikes. Sick colour on the echo man!
I learned that. I definitely liked the bar a lot but I just swapped it for a deda one

Thanks, mines being built up right now. Looking forward to it!
One thing I love about Echo is still looking SLIM for a Gravel Bike . . . Especially if we look at it from the side . . .

@@bicyclestation the cables are run though the steerer tube, please explain how you can run a regular stem ?
There’s a hole in the down tube. They sell it with a normal stem, you just have to tell them when you order it so they cut the holes

Domestic manufacturing definitely costs more for sure
What is the brand of the bar tape ?
PDW, but unfortunately I don't think they make the coffee pot one anymore
I can’t imagine what the hole in the carbon steerer will be doing the the rear brake hose

If you have any steep climbs you may want a 36t cassette.

i got an echo in 2x with two wheelsets... it def doesnt suck!
Hard agree
love the blue but the crux would be my goto.
But then you have to deal with specialized

Its worked fine for months.
@@bicyclestation ok, if your explanation makes sense to you, go for it. 🙏🏻
Honestly after watching this video, I no longer will by Allied Echo. Way too many hassles comepared to other builds.
It is going to be slow!
Why?
@@bicyclestation Fat tires.
Its so it can go on gravel, but they aren't even that slow.
