  • In this video we remove the brake drums to inspect the brake shoes and the mechanism. A find a few bits needing attention.

There are two empty holes in the brake drum that if you screw a bolt into each they ground against the hub backing it off for you. Great series. Keep up the good work.

Hi Irishman, thank you for your comment. I will need to take a closer look at the drums for the two holes. Thanks for the tip!👏😉

Those screws alrways tighten over the years with vibration, corrosion and the wheel hub pressing against them.

They are almost always an issue! 😉

Just done the same job on my 135, used Tekton manual impact driver which worked perfectly for one, then had to drill a hole for a punch as the slot on the next one was trashed. When the second drum came off there were no drum screws. The working parts inside both drums were badly rusted, I have no idea why the brakes still worked. When the drums came off everything just collapsed and fell to the floor. New brakes right through starting with the back plates.

Hi Lloyd, it is incredible to me how something like brakes on a vehicle can be so neglected by some people. These are the most important part of any vehicle and should be serviced and maintained regularly. I mean these things save your life pretty much every time you drive the vehicle- right? Anyhow good luck and I hope our video/s help in some way. 👍
