Great video! It really makes a huge difference in our style and how we look while skating if we do the "balance" right. Took me some time but I finally got there :)

awesome tutorial, super helpful! I am a little confused on this one with the slalom tho. they are two different moves aren't they?

Yes they are two different moves. This move, the feet at wide apart and you are one gaining speed from one foot. The slalom has the feet close together and speed should be gained using both feet on each curve. Hope this helps clarify the difference.

@@IceCoachOnline thank you so much for the clear clarification! I've seen ppl doing both skiing-like moves at the rink and now I understand!

As a beginner, I've been practicing the half swizzles pumps on a circle. took me 5-6 pushes to complete a hockey circle and I was trying to bend the knees and lean towards to the circle center. However I found it super hard to hold the feet wide apart for long. Like the second I push, I have the immediate tendency to close the two feet back together so that I won't stop or fall :'(( I know I definitely need tons and tons of practice, but if you might have some tips on what I might did wrong or can improve, it will be sincerely appreciated! :)))

@@cindytong173 a lot of people do their forward two foot slalom incorrectly and let the feet come apart too much, resulting in something that looks like half swizzle pumps!

@@cindytong173 it's hard to say without seeing them for myself but it sounds like you are not confident at getting your weight over the new foot after the push.
Forward pumps are useful to teach you correct weight transfer between two feet. So it sounds like you leave your weight back on the foot you are pushing with instead of transferring it during the push. This would make you feel very unstable and if you don't bring your feet back together you would fall. Try to make sure you always have your weight over one of your feet at all times and use this exercise to practice getting use to transferring that weight from one foot to the other.
      Hope this helps,
      Lloyd
