  • Today I am making a fun French Toast breakfast for my kids. Shout out to my brother-in-law Jake, for the recipe idea! French toast roll-ups are perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a snack. I also include a way to utilize extra leftover bread crust for baked French toast fries.
Welcome to Simply Mamá Cooks TH-cam Channel! I am a Mom to a blended Korean / Mexican American family that loves to share what I cook in my home. I am still learning and enjoy the process of making home-cooked food.

I think I'll try these for breakfast at my house tomorrow. I'm an old kid (retired) but I like french toast and I think I'll like these too. Great idea to use the remaining ingredients. Your family is lucky to have such a great cook to prepare their meals. Keep up the good work and take care. Thanks for sharing.

Too old for kids and can’t eat due to feeding tube but I love cooking and miss it! Thanks hon! Practical Texas cooking
    Try cheaters chicken and rice...
Boiled and debone chicken ( save stock for other dishes)
Fix whole box of minute rice or equivalent
Can each of cream of mushroom and cream of chicken (can sub cream of celery for mushroom)
Salt and pepper of course plus can add any seasoning you like
Throw cooked and deboned chicken in 9by11 casserole or equivalent
Add cooked rice, creamed soup, and seasoning
Throw in oven around 350 (hell I dunno, Texas cook learned from mama and grandmas who never measured anything) til everything is hot, edges of casserole may be lightly brown
Can add cheese on top to baking process if you want
Can’t get much cheaper except maybe chicken and dumplings (I use canned biscuits dredged in flour, small pieces ripped off and thrown in pot like you hate food, great for releasing stress) or hamburger goulash, use jumbo elbow Mac and good italian seasoning, also good in hamburger soup and spaghetti!

Aww... I'm so sorry to hear your on a feeding tube😔 ...and your here looking at recipes for the ones you love ...you're such a carry person to think of others and at the same time your unable to eat the food yourself! ...||First before I talk any further ... for readers reading here ... if you don't like what I'm writing here please don't leave a comment to me ...Thank-you Kindy! || ...I use to be a nurse and what I had some of my patients do when-ever they craved certain foods I would get what food they craved (if it was made in the hospital kitchen of coarse and I would give them a little bit at a time. Some would chew for a sec... then I would have them remove the food into a tissue. Then... I would have them rinse their mouth out with water and put their rinsed water in a cup. If they wanted a bit more I would repeat until they felt satisfied.
After tasting their food I would get them to brush their teeth. They were so happy afterwards and felt so content even if it was just a wee bit of food. There's so many words to express how they felt during and after tasting their food ...I have to say I was so thrilled for them! Also ...because I choose to let them taste at all or for such a *short *period *of *time and not longer ...I had to be careful that their swallowing instinct would not kick-in!!
Note: I would highly recommend that you talk to your doctor and see what he thinks about tasting food as I explained here before trying on your own! Take care and God Bless you for you are truly a very special women!

Cream cheese has a tendency to separate and curdle once frozen and reheated so maybe try with a small batch first just so you don’t end up ruining them

Just make only three or four of them, if you don't want all of them for breakfast, just save them for a cup of coffee in the afternoon.

THESE ARE AWESOME! Thank you for childhood memories.
When I saw this I had to try them; when I was a kid my mom made something similar with left over apples and pears. She also made a savory version of a croque-monsieur in this style (most likely because we were low on ham) - spreading bechamel with Grueyere and slices of ham on the bread which was rolled up and crisped up in butter.

I made these this morning after watching your video. Had to substitute canned peaches for the strawberries & ham for the bacon since I didn’t have those ingredients on hand. The french toast fries were a hit with my kids. Everything was yummy & I love that the crusts didn’t go to waste, especially at this time. Thanks for posting!
