The one content creator who keeps it REAL! I really appreciate you George. Thank you for making honest, fun, engaging reviews. Im sure I speak for many when I say we appreciate the honesty.
George, what a weird experience you had with the Anona people. Having a manufacturer ghost you must be a first? Thanks for all the time you invested in this review. It will save some of us from the pain you experienced.
It was pretty disappointing, because they were really nice and awesome to work with at first. I’m hoping they were just waiting to get back to me when they had a solution and it just hadn’t happened yet.
I had a feeling this would be your take on this lock! I had many of the same experiences, but in the end I could barely get it to work in Apple Home, and in the end I gave in and asked them to collect it, as I couldn't effectively do a review. They asked me to return it, and said they'd refund me, but I wouldn't go for that, so they told me to keep it in the end, so it's sat here collecting dust. They told me i was the only reviewer that found any issues, but all the other reviews before yours came out didn't show any examples of it working with Matter - and now I know why.
You definitely aren’t the only one. I spoke to a few creators that were having the same issue and decided against doing reviews. Anona has since contacted me & they hope to have a solution by Sep 2nd (so it is definitely a known issue). They have also temporarily pulled all promotion for the lock.
@@GeorgeLangabeer good to know, thanks. They were polite at all times, but I felt in my gut they weren’t being totally honest about the issues. They even said the reason it wasn’t working for me was due to their server being in the US, and with me being in Taiwan, it was the reason for the issues. I told them as its Matter, it shouldn’t need to connect to a server anywhere, and should work locally. They didn’t reply after that point.
I see the lock is back on Amazon (as of this morning), so maybe they think they’ve solved the issue. I threw it in the trash, so I can’t test it to find out. lol
Thank you. Great review.. This lock has everything I need. I don't care about the matter integration or any o fthe other issues you had.. As for the looks it looks great to me.. the keypad looks like the same style as the interier so I don't see it as anything other than apprpraite.. both units are a bit chunky but I'm not complaining it''s still great. I ordered mine and can't wait to get it.. I'm a renter. Best to you..Thx again.
As I said in the review, if you don’t care about all that, it might be a great lock for you. I’m just not a fan of a brand promoting a feature (the main feature) of a lock & not delivering. It’s false advertising.
@@GeorgeLangabeer agreed.. it's not good practice to take liberties or outright lie like that.. It just so happened what they offered fit the bill for my limited use case. I'd probably be less inclined if I was actually paying for it (I got it for free as a reviewer, and only the lock came there was no keypad unfortunately). I was never able to get it it paired with Google via Matter, but it was of little consequence. 99% of the time we enter through the garage, but having this gave us a bit of piece of mind on two fronts, having a way to get back in should we lock ourselves out accidently (we have a key hidden also, but after so long we might forget it entirely, or where it is). Anyway I did mention in my review the issue with Matter, so I'm totally with you on that. Thanks again, you're channel is great.
Love your Tell it like it is review. Nice to hear your spouses input as well. My Anona locks works well with HomeKit as long as I reboot the lock every 24 hours.
I actually had this lock in my Amazon cart. Wanted to do some more research before pulling the trigger..came across your video and removed it from my cart. Customer service is everything, and if they don’t have it, they’ll lose money. Thanks!
FYI I watched your review after I bought this lock and the august gen 4 w/keypad since I was undecided. Was disappointed to hear about your challenges, but tried it anyway because it was so much cheaper and I didn’t want the August door position sensor. Long story short it worked perfect with matter integration so apparently they fixed something.
They told me they fixed the issue, but like I said in the video, I threw mine in the trash. They were supposed to send me another one so I could do another video (I wanted to try it to be fair), demonstrating they fixed it, but then they ghosted me again. I’m glad you’re happy with yours, but I’m 100% done with that company. They’re too sketchy.
I guess the Amazon unavailability was simply out of stock as I bought this lock via Amazon about a week ago. It works great as a simple smart lock so far. I will need trying to pair it with Alexa sometime soon...
No, it was temporarily unavailable on Amazon right after I released this video, because of the issues they were having with the matter integration. They claimed to me the issue was fixed and they were going to send me another one to test (because I threw the first one in the trash). They flaked on me again and I never received the second one. So it might be on Amazon again, but I can’t verify that it works with matter like it’s supposed to.
I think you spoiled me with the previous lock and my easy Apple Watch access. This lock didn’t stand a chance against it. (It also sounded “stronger” lol)
Please help. I need a suggestion for a simple, single camera for my front porch to monitor deliveries. I live in up north so cold in winter. What camera do you recommend.
I have been using my Anona smart lock for few months now and maybe I was lucky but I have a full integration with apple home thru Matters. Can even control my lock with siri on my apple watch. Hope you will be able to do the same soon
They have told me that they have fixed the issue with firmware updates. But I wouldn’t know, because I threw mine in the trash (as I said in the video).
Brutal and honest! Good for you! Ghosting is never a good sign.
I'm hoping they just disappeared because they are working on it and will get back to me when they have a solution.
Love your honesty
You know I'm always going to keep it real!

Yeah, you shouldn’t have to reboot it every 24 hours. That’s ridiculous. In my opinion that’s not working well with HomeKit.

Hello George! Do you edit videos yourself, or have you hired someone? I’m an editor and would be glad to discuss it if you’re interested.
I’m not interested. Thank you though.
I appreciate your quick response!
