This almost had me in tears cause how do you create a safe place when you don't know how to. You want to be able to provide it for sure.

It’s a shame that this young brother doesn’t get the recognition and respect he deserves in Atlantic County , NJ . Keep up the good work.

I’m sure this young man gets the respect he deserves, do you mean you want him to become popular or well shared ? I like my gems to be well kept secrets, like appreciated amongst his community because the ones that blow up change the format and ruin the magic, among other things. This young man deserves a particular type of crowd that genuinely respects and understands his craft & he’ll be just fine ❤

I always wish I could reach out to kids who are being destructive to themselves and others; I know it's because they're hurting inside. But I also have to accept that when they see that I'm not the same gender, age, color, or ethnicity as them, they'll be suspicious and doubtful. I get it, and I don't blame them. I guess the best way I can help them is to use my social privilege for good and support the people they WILL listen to and who make them feel safe. How can I support people like this speaker?

This was absolutely beautiful. This is needed in our communities. So simple steps but because the trauma deeply rooted in our community many need to be taught just those 4 steps!!

Just because a parent is there doesn't mean they're able to do the things you need. We're all a work in progress. My parents went through enormous struggles in themselves to end the generational cycles of abuse and mental health problems. In a way, it was a privilege to see that happen over the years and an honor to have parents who were strong enough to apologize to their children and make real changes. It CAN be done. It's not easy, but it's possible and necessary.

We also lack emotional fluency because we have a subsect in our community who allow celebrities, sports stars to be our heros, and this deep attachment to pop-culture and obsession of trying to be viewed as "cool."
