I’ve heard about this 4 times thing online. I’ve gone in 2x. I was able to stop in the first time and then set up an actual formal appointment for my 2nd time. Both times the rep Ive been dealing with has been really lovely. Definitely was an in depth conversation both times. During my 1st visit we just talked watches for 45 mins. My 2nd visit we really talked about the brand and what I was interested in. My preference is the 37mm date or the 38mm Chrono. Both I imagine will be almost impossible to get.

So first hand experience, real story! I originally purchased my first AP at Westime when they were an AP AD i bought an offshore, with the promise of a RO. However a few months later AP decided to remove them and solely sell their watches from AP boutiques. I was upset about it and tried to speak to the manager seemed like it made it worse lol i was called by a regional allocator won’t say his name and he interviewed me over the phone for about 45 min. It was almost a job interview intensity. I remember him asking what watches were in my collection? Where do i see myself in the next 5/10 years. How do you make a living etc…. After the interview he said be patient. So i still showed up to the AD a few times i really wanted a Rose Royal Oak on a bracelet! After a 8 months or so Xmas time they called me to the boutique. Offered me a Rose RO on a strap but i wanted it on a bracelet, salesperson tried to sell me the bracelet seperate (conversion) But the watch ref would be a strap i kindly declined and said i want it factory bracelet please…. I didn’t get called for almost 3 years i had given up on them. I figured maybe since i declined a watch they just black listed me whatever….Out of the blue the sales assoc called and said hey we didn’t forget..And finally got my gold RO on a bracelet. 100% they look you up they see what your about it’s their brand and it’s key for them to have the proper person wearing their product. I for one am shocked a grey market dealer is making a video about how difficult it is to get watches at retail. It’s actually not bad - just got a Starbucks in a few months with no purchase history
How times have changed in 1999 I bought my first AP a Chronograph, 39mm dark gray dial, it's on my wrist now. I bought the AP from a prominent certified AP dealer in Greenwich Conn. I got a 30% discount at the time and yes it was a new watch. When AP and so many other watch brands starting opening their own boutiques they lost their dealership. The same thing happened to my Rolex dealer in NJ after she had spent $400,000.00 to modify her store to Rolex's specifications, these companies are ruthless to the point I simply don't buy anything.
So sick of sucking up to the these certain watch companies AP,Rolex,Patek I’m spending my hard earned money and want what I want when I want it so many other great watch brands that I can actually walk in and buy a beautiful watch without having to suck up to the sales person and telling me sorry we don’t have anything but you can put your name on the list and we’ll call you when we get one in of which they rarely due. Thousands of other great brands people wake up IWC,Cartier,Breitling,Omega, Christopher Ward, Panerai and Tag Huer and on and on. Case Closed.
I’ve found AP great to deal with and in some ways a lot less stuffy than Rolex ADs. I waited around 3 weeks for my 26240OR from AP and hoping to add to my collection of AP watches in the future. Been fortunate to pick up 4 Rolex watches over the past 14 months but definitely think AP feels more special to own
I’m interested in an AP but I’ve not had great experiences when going for Rolex’s from ADs. I find they act quite condescending towards me as I’m only 21. I’ve had one dealer basically tell me I can’t afford it which I found was extremely rude. I assume AP will be similar but even worse
Always know that when you’re walking into a boutique you’re more successful than any of their sales associates. Be proud of your amazing achievement to be able to afford one at 21!

Thanks for the video. I went through 3 different AP House in Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong to see if it is possible to express my interest, build a relationship and buy AP C11.59 or ROO. It is tough to get a timepiece but the experience is awesome including the education on AP history and their models. Hope to land an AP timepiece one day.
For what it's worth, I didn't feel it was overly complicated here in Texas. I went in, was polite, got a wonderful education, and then stayed in touch. I showed my AD I could clearly afford the watch and what my game plan was. He was communicative and eventually after about a year or so (stopping by 3-4 times along the way) I got the call to get my first AP Offshore. Hope to get a Royal Oak next which I think is in the cards. I love my Offshore!
Gotta had in to AP they sell you a bunch of watches you didn't really want in the hopes of buying the watch you actually want and make you think that they're doing you a favor.
I’ve been reading so many comments about Audemars Piguet Boutiques and their vetting process. I went into one of them in London today and can honestly say how shocked I was at the absolutely amazing service. The sales guy couldn’t have been more helpful. I mentioned the 39mm Royal Oak in Stainless Steel and was told the chances of that as my first purchase was highly unlikely but was more than happy to register my interest in a 41mm Royal Oak and a 38mm Royal Oak Chronograph. I also got to try on both of them and was extremely impressed. Fingers crossed that in a year or two I might get the call.

AP has one big problem.. they increased the list prices in the last 5 years like no one. Without a real justification… same very small movements compared to the size, not much innovation and irritating + 2many „limited“ editions. Men Steel watch for starting from 25k$ is just a bad joke. 30k for the Chrono…
Basically to ego stroke, for snobs and insecure folks Its for all luxury brands. Paying 500 for a normal hoodie with a lV or chrome logo on it still blows my mind. At least watches hold their values

Are you talking about the moral standards of same AP who did a made to order 25 limited edition perpetual calendars for Anant Ambani not necessarily because he's such an enthusiast but merely because he's rich and is having a lavish wedding!
But you will always know and say to yourself in the back of your mind that you're wearing a fake watch. You're an imposter, a fraud. Seeking recognition from a prestigious brand that you haven't earned the right to represent (which is why you wear a fake)
Stunning watches, but the luxury brand approval experience is contrived AF. It’s for people who are a little plastic in substance. I’d rather a normal transaction and buy grey market.

The main reason it’s impossible for me to get it is it’s an ugly overpriced piece of steel and I am uninterested 😀😀😀they would be lucky to get my money not the other way around. Respect yourself!
It’s impossible because they are desperately trying to hang onto 2022, it isn’t working and the secondary markets tell the truth. If AP loses the hype, AP is in trouble as their entire offering is 75% Gerald Genta. The hype is old, people are tired of the game and more people are decided that AP should just keep their watches and move onto other brands. It’s just way too much trouble to try to get a watch. It’s not worth it. Just go grey market because many are below retail now and skip all the bullshit.
AMZWATCH is one of my favorite watch manufacturers they do offer beautifull dials, good workmanship & moovements. That smooth sweeping second hand is truly mesmerizing!
Great video, I appreciate the effort put to create it. However I do disagree with AP (Rolex, Vacheron, Patek) policy that is full of shit, as they do not do any vetting as if they were do that there would be no more flippers, just passionate buyers that “meet” the brands image, but my educated guess is that dealers are hand and hand with their friends /family/ grey market who they allocate the watches and they split the profit. Their policy simply adds a middle men and creates/maintains this hype and is a buyers are being incredibly stupid to fall for it (I already purchased overpriced watches from grey market :) )

Crazy how all these watch brands were giving out discounts back then, I’ve heard similar about Rolex in the early 2000s.
@@remmymartinnn7092 Here's a dirty secret: Rolex ADs still give discounts, and they did throughout the pandemic. You just have to be in with them.
Basically the store manager was my neighbour and I got the watch one my first visit to AP
So sick of sucking up to the these certain watch companies AP,Rolex,Patek
I’m spending my hard earned money and want what I want when I want it so many other great watch brands that I can actually walk in and buy a beautiful watch without having to suck up to the sales person and telling me sorry we don’t have anything but you can put your name on the list and we’ll call you when we get one in of which they rarely due. Thousands of other great brands people wake up
IWC,Cartier,Breitling,Omega, Christopher Ward, Panerai and Tag Huer and on and on. Case Closed.
Who are you? Why would they want you as a customer? People who whine aren't exactly their target market. They can sniff that out.
yeah they are not looking for someone like you to be their clients, who always think that their are many other brands out there. Go buy those brands.
@@Colonel.B.Sanders I appreciate that.
@@Colonel.B.Sandersyea right, the audacity of these retail sales merchants to be judging anyone who can afford a 10-20-30 grand watch is beyond obscure.
Ever since I bought a watch from MAMACOO, My question is if it's this hard to tell them apart, what is the point of owning an authentic watch?
I can appreciate the time piece without being blinded by the scummy business practices...
All sounds like good marketing, you desire most what you can t have. With that been said where the money is coming from is they are so strict?
Thanks for the video. I went through 3 different AP House in Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong to see if it is possible to express my interest, build a relationship and buy AP C11.59 or ROO. It is tough to get a timepiece but the experience is awesome including the education on AP history and their models. Hope to land an AP timepiece one day.
2 years after the bubble top and some Brands didn't learn a damn thing
Where should i go if i want to buy watches instantly?? Dubai?
It always amazes me how much beauty and precision are added to the parts of AMZWATCH's watch 99% of people will never see.
0.0% chance buddy
@@markov3043 Why do you say that ?
@@Madeinlondon67the wait list is fake. I suggest u purchase a less popular model like a code or ROO to build purchase history. I got my ROO first and RO 6 months later.
@@JohnAndJaneDoe65 I’m not interested in buying something that I don’t want. I did exactly the same when registering my interest in a Rolex GMT Batman in 2021 when I was told the same thing but refused. I collected my watch on Saturday 26th October and had No previous spend history with that AD.
Laughable that they have a 'vetting process' when they choose to be associated with the likes of Dave and Stormzy😄😄
What's wrong with Dave or stormzy? They are tax paying citizens of the UK that live in London near the ADs selling the watches and can afford the watches not sure why they would be excluded from an opportunity to purchase them
They’re classless roadmen
@@dean9090 unsure what that has to do with buying an audemars from the AD I see chavs buying watches all the time I didn't know social class was a requirement to spend money at a retailer

AP is the finest in entire swiss its finishing or level very hard any other brand to reach even I found Patek Philippe not as good finished as AP but I feel bad their range is very limited or no much versions
I visited AP boutique in Las Vegas in Q1 2024. No appointment. They didn’t want to let me in. Eventually they did. They made it clear I’d need to develop a relationship over 7 to 10 visits over years before I’d be potentially eligible to buy a watch. Get real. I’ll never buy an AP from an AD. Bunch of snots.
But how do you build relationship without being able to buy a watch?
So go in and kiss their ass....then they will "allow" you to buy a watch? GTFOH with that BS! (the AD)
@@HenryLaw19891024you have to take the sales person out to dinner 😂

I've lived in Hong Kong for over thirty years, and in 2016, decided to buy an AP, RO, OS QEII Cup Chronograph Limited Edition in Rose Gold and Forged Carbon, and so, one morning just walked into the AP Headquarters in Central .... They had only one of the watches I so longed for .... So to cut a long story short, walked out of the shop 30 minutes later; one million Hong Kong dollars less than I had earlier .... On reflection .... Still a beautiful watch .... The finish and workmanship are second to none .... Accurate to two seconds a day .... And now my wife has broken her bank and has recently bought her own AP so it's all together for us both .... Cheers ....

As a broke boy and actual enthusiast who wants watch’s prices to crater, MAMACOO is a good choice.
Thanks for the info
P.s. never place your watches on the crown side 😊
I love your videos keep up the great work

The watch Market is dead, gray market dealers are scrambling in the states to off load watches. It’s getting bad here.
I have a royal oak bought it for 15k brand new i couldnt sell it for 2k today . They are not like rolex. Ap does not hold value and its been repaired. My rolex has never been repaired and keeps its value
Went into New Bond Street in London, they were great and could have bought one on the day
This inspired me to go on-line and write them a paragraph. Let’s just say I hope the person reading it wasn’t easily offended. Let’s just say it explained why Casio watches were better in every way
can you also post it here for AP owner entertainment? :D and I hope your main point wasn't that Casio is cheaper :D
MAMACOO!Every time you exhibit one of these watches I become super tempted to get one.
I went into the main one without an appointment - got offered 3 watches on the same day after been there for an hour 🤷🏻♂️

Once I got an Apple Watch, I never put on my Patek Philippe again. You can have your waitlist and your watches, the world has shifted.
The UK is the worst country to buy an AP. Just go overseas or buy it for a premium if you really want it.
If you’re buying an AP paying more than retail shouldn’t be a problem for you unless it’s 3 times retail which is rare.
Love your channel with so many stellar watches! For me the AMZWATCH’ watch is my favorite. Keep the videos coming. Thanks.
I went to Harrods about 18 months back. All very nice and cosy. Registered for a gold Royal Oak, black face leather strap. Can’t remember the 50 odd digit model number. Heard nothing since. If I get the call, great. If I don’t, great… 😊
AP has one big problem.. they increased the list prices in the last 5 years like no one. A perfect example of managed scarcity as a marketing technique. I'm amazed anyone falls for this to be honest.
Basically to ego stroke, for snobs and insecure folks
Its for all luxury brands. Paying 500 for a normal hoodie with a lV or chrome logo on it still blows my mind. At least watches hold their values
You should create your own brand, build hype, and have them available for everyone. Great idea!
it for design
I saw one sitting in the used section at my local watch store.
I went through the whole vetting process I was told I had to start somewhere and to get an offshore first. When the call came I said nope I’m not buying a watch I don’t like and will take a 5K hit on. Since then I’ve been ignored. Fml 🤦🏻♂️
Buy a used one
Love AP, their watches are so beautiful
I’m just getting into the watch scene but this watch looks like a $20 Walmart watch I don’t get why it’s so expensive
Please avoid placing your watches directly on the crown, it can damage the movement 😖
Are you talking about the moral standards of same AP who did a made to order 25 limited edition perpetual calendars for Anant Ambani not necessarily because he's such an enthusiast but merely because he's rich and is having a lavish wedding!
Not worth the hassle at all. Not a big fan of the overhyped AP. Clasp construction is not the best imo and no micro adjustments in the bracelet.. 🥴
Go to Hongkong they have authentic APs left and right. You can buy it with premium but no problem and complications such as "vetting" lol
What you just explained around @7:30 to @8:00 is called Antitrust
My super clone looks identical and is a fraction of the cost lol
But you will always know and say to yourself in the back of your mind that you're wearing a fake watch. You're an imposter, a fraud. Seeking recognition from a prestigious brand that you haven't earned the right to represent (which is why you wear a fake)
Fr I’m bout to cop it for 1300$
Just bought a Selfwinding, most uncomfortable watch I ever wore
It aint anymore bro.
The muppet boiler room secondary grey luxury watch market is dead
Stunning watches, but the luxury brand approval experience is contrived AF. It’s for people who are a little plastic in substance. I’d rather a normal transaction and buy grey market.
Definitely the most interesting & informative channel in TH-cam,and I am your fan! I’ve been watching MAMACOO and buying them recently to complement my watch collection. Good video
The main reason it’s impossible for me to get it is it’s an ugly overpriced piece of steel and I am uninterested 😀😀😀they would be lucky to get my money not the other way around. Respect yourself!
3 AP's resting on the crown - hurts my heart.
Who puts up with this bs just to get a watch
Watch Goblins.
Watch gobblers more like
Beta men
My sentiments exactly.
Pagani have started vetting customers. I still managed to get an AP for £40 😊
