    Man this was the pie iron video I’ve been lookin for......simple....cheap....and daaamm good. Every other video people are prepping the food in the kitchen before cooking Over the fire. Also using ingredients someone bushcamping wouldn’t have on hand. bullshit! But You my friend did it the real way. Thankyou for this video! Fuckin awesome

    One of my favorites is mini meat loaves, fried potatoes and onions and a peach pie on cinnamon raisin bread. Your favorite meatloaf recipe in one pie iron, slice potatoes with onion, season to taste and a dash of vegetable oil in another. Pie filling and cinnamon raisin bread pie for dessert.

    A friend of my old man's lived in a trailer park when I was a kid, maybe like 7-11 years old(30 now), he showed me these way back then, haven't had them since, but I never forgot about them. Might have to pick up a set of irons and a fire table so I can have some this summer.

    The pizza pie is the best!!!! I also do a chicken bacon with pepper jack cheese.. it is bangin! Mountain pies are so diverse and easy to make! In my opinion the best bit of camping gear you can own, aside from a good sleeping bag of course

    Loved these! Haven’t had any in a long long time. We always called them pudgy pies. I’m going to have to buy myself a cooker now. I used to love shoving marshmallow and chocolate inside for s’more ones

      Clay Neal definitely get a new pie iron but watch out because some of the new ones are cheap metal and will actually melt if you put them on direct coals.
      I also used to make a peanut butter and marshmallow fluff mountain pie!!!

    Little suggestion put butter on the bread it helps keep it from burning

    • @TheBudgetSportsman
      @TheBudgetSportsman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the tip, we’ve tried both ways and prefer putting the butter straight on the pie iron. It’s much easier and the butter ends up in the bread anyways.

    Hey man - nice video! We just made these the other day. This is the first time I’ve heard them called “Mountain Pies”, we’ve always called them “Pudgy Pies” where I’m from.
    Question for you: where did you get those giant pepperonis!? Those look amazing!
    That dessert you mentioned also sounds pretty epic. I think my favorite pie iron dessert is just a simple cherry pie with standard cherry pie filling.

    • @TheBudgetSportsman
      @TheBudgetSportsman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats funny, because I have never in my life heard them Pudgy Pies. It's amazing to me things that are called different things around our country.
      I made that video a long time ago and I can't be sure exactly where we got the pepperonis, BUT I do know that Dollar General sells packages of sliced salami and Pepperonis that is quite large. They are normally in the dry food section in a sealed package. I love the Salami for an on the go snack when I am out in the woods.

      The Budget Sportsman - good call. I may have to go see if I can find some at Dollar General. Thanks!

      And yeah, learn something new every day! I honestly didn’t know the irons were called “pie irons” until I saw it on TH-cam. I’ve always just called them “pudgy pie makers”, because that’s what they make lol.

    Did you use white bread? Italian bread would work better.

    • @TheBudgetSportsman
      @TheBudgetSportsman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Either will work. It’s personal preference I would say. Our family enjoys honey wheat bread.
