You're funny. I'm in upstate South Carolina & the hurricane has knocked out our electricity. I'm going to cook my "freezer food" on a fire tomorrow; it's all thawed out. I got branches down everywhere. Bon appetit. ❤
If you can find a shovel ,dig a pit for your fire, you will keep it contained eaiser without danger. We cooked over a campfire every summer at the fishing camp. WE DUG A PIT , or grandma canceled our plans by throwing everything in the cold spring creek. Fire hazards are ground to a stop by following her fire danger rules.
those all sound fantastic! we called them "hobo dinners" haha. the staple for us was ground beef, potato, carrot, onion, salt and pepper. Cubed small with a pad of butter and tossed into the coals. Its a must anytime i camp. brings my right back to being a kid camping with grandma and grandpa. love it
When you mix the dry ingredients at home... for the blueberry crumble, add little pats of butter to it and knead the zip baggie until you have a crumbled mixture. One way to make sure it is easily incorporated when heating the bag.
I do something similiar for my breakfasts when thruhiking. I'll take oats, chopped almonds, coconut milk powder, vanilla carnation breakfast powder, dried blueberries and strawberries and heat it up in my steel mug. Around 700 calories and 35g protein per 12oz cup, and tastes phenomenal.
You should try a season mix packet like McCormick Montreal Steak Seasoning (my personal favorite). These looked wonderful and easy to make (I love a packet meal for dinner) (I again use hamburger patty for convenience ) Keep camping and I'll keep watching.
Just a tip with your apple blueberry dessert, put your sugar on your fruit 10-15 before cooking and it will get juicy, also message your butter into your oatmeal mixture with your fingers or in the ziplock, it will come out perfect !!! If you don’t have time to get your fruit and sugar juicy just add a couple tablespoons of water. It all looks fabulous!!!
One tip pine coals burn hotter. So a just your cook time to type of wood. The hard wood dosent burn as hot and is slower. First time to make what I call hobo meal it probably will be less than done or charred. It just takes experience.
Fire grilling & baking is going to take longer than a freeze dried meal or a boil in bag because you're actually cooking just like in an oven, and that takes time. Healthy? Cut back on the butter. Maybe exchange with some olive oil. Kudos for not being afraid to try some new things. Have a good one. 👍

I've been using these for years - greatest thing for camp cooking. Why do you bring everything up to the top and seal it there? It is much easier to fold the edge of one side over to the other side and seal them flat on the table. If you seal it properly it functions exactly like your version

@CynthiaRockroth yep I've ran a 12 acre campground on Lake Ttavis, Austin Texas, for the last 10 years. I know a bit about campfires. And mowing. Lol.
Love these ideas and how you narrate! It's so natural and inviting! Thank you :)
I make packets up at home, put them in zip lock bags with tags, and no muss, no fuss just do the fire and relax. Your recipes are great!
Great idea!

The last two meal looked and sounded delicious 😊 Thanks for sharing.
I use parchment papper inside the foil. Helps with several issues.
Found this video before drifting off to bed prior to camping tomorrow. You have good energy. Stay true to yourself!
Hope your trip was a great one.

Those meals looked amazing! And I swear I could smell all those wonderful smells just watching!😋
Informative content which has encouraged me and have started to use foil cooking in my home pie maker. Thanks, Kiwi Tim
I think that last recipe was Bacon {Embraced} Chicken Strips. They all looked seriously delicious.
Bacon *Embraced* - I wish I had thought of that!! 😅
@@WildernessGrandpa I was thinking 'infused'.

I WILL be trying all of these on my next trip! Thanks, Wilderness Grandpa!!!
Thank you so much for being part of the channel! I really appreciate it.

Packet meals are fun to do! Try a cornish game hen wrapped with potatoes and corn on the cob!
Oh... butter is one of the healthiest foods available.
Great ideas! I've only tried barritoes wrapped in foil, but these look like great camping additions!
We used to do all kinds... experimenting was most of the fun
Good job Uncle!! My hubby and I are doing these this Memoril Day for our family camping trip. Thanks!!!!
Nice!!
Just found your channel and absolutely love it! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and going what you do!

I love these ideas!! Definitely going to do these myself.
Great video man, thank you.
My favorite is a hamburger patty, a long thin slice of potato, long thin slices of carrot, and a slice of onion, salt and pepper.
I'm going to try something like that next time. It sounds really good!
Liked the chicken and bacon lattice
You did well on those dishes...all e looked amazing. Thanks so much for sharing
Those are some great camping recipes!!
Thank you for sharing
I’m going to try the pizza this week
Nice! I hope it turns out well for you.
love this!!
Everything's better with butter.... He'll yes!
Great idea I'll use it next time I go camping ❤😂
In your backyard. Cool cool cool!.....
Really?? Glad you found the channel. I really hope that the past and future videos will be a help for you.
Thanks loved it!
Those look 10x better than my wife's cooking 🥺
I laughed... And then thought maybe I shouldn't have
🤔

love your work.

Awesome video bud 👍
Thank you so much!
I saw another video where they wrapped crescent rolls on a stick & put it over the fire for a side.
Nice!
Wheres the cream, maybe rub butter in to the crumb
Awesome
Can you bake these foil packets in the oven if you don’t camp?
Yep. Or on a grill
What’s the other wrap you use inside the foil?
Parchment paper
Do you just keep them in the fridge at home before you travel?
The ingredients that need to be in the fridge, yes. But I assembled them all at camp.
Wouldn't a "scramble" normally have scrambled eggs in it???
😂
does aluminum from the foil really leech into the food..
I prefer not to take the chance, but sometimes it's just the only way
@@WildernessGrandpa I looked it up and it can leech into the food...smart man...I never thought about it but I will now...
Why the parchment paper?
To try to protect from the aluminum as much as possible
It makes no-nonsense to me the criteria of fast to prepare and bed of coals. If one makes a bed of coals while camping and slow cook.
I'm sorry, but your comment makes no sense.
Price Plaza
HE Must be some place with no bears.
😂
aluminum leaking into the food?
Man I can smell the pizza.
Sir, maybe you could have kept the camera a little closer?
Kept the camera closer to what?

You must be a butter fan, too!
I know of a family that only ever uses butter and no high cholesterol or health problems
butter is good for you!
looks like you deuced in that foil
