This is - by far - the most in dept and well put together wheel tutorial for FM8 to this date. Also, by all what I've read and tested so far, it's the only one that actually gets all the settings CORRECTLY. It's honestly mind blowing to me, how many self proclaimed "sim racing content creators" out there put out similar guides in the last couple of days, that are just completely off and not correct about what setting does what.
TLDR: Thanks, best guide, can recommend!

After watching many of these videos and feeling like all of the setups I’ve tried are crap, I’m really hoping that what you’re saying about this one is true cus man I just need a good feeling setup so I can actually start playing the game 😂

@@TimmyTheSnail i think you wont be disappointed - do yourself a favour though, and actually WATCH the entire thing and try to understand the concepts explained here. Don't just simply copy and paste his base settings. While they are a very good starting point, you can (and should!) still further adjust to your liking. The tools are very well explained here. For example, i decided to go with much higher mechanical trail than him, despite being on a belt wheel, just because i liked the heavier feeling result more.

It seems the same as Forza 7, in which case I'd recommend checking out Blue028's video on FM7 FFB where he gets real in detail on what each setting actually does. Unless they changed it for FM8, which is possible, the FFB scale does not scale all effects, only certain ones.

Thank you so much for this video! Two days of testing setting suggestions by others, and now I finally have my Thrustmaster T300 feeling just right in Forza Motorsports after watching your video. Just used this guide to set up a G923. It feels really good. Cars communicate well through the wheel and you get a really good feeling of the limits of grip. I'll add this is my first wheel and pedal set up.

Oh man, tanks you for this. The FFB is so dialed in for me now.
I've been sim racing for 3 years now, played em all from more sim-cade games like GT7 to full sims like iRacing and everything in between. This may sound crazy but I feel this is the best FFB I've experienced.
Now before the pitchforks come im not claiming that Motosport has better FFB and physics than iRacing, but thanks to this guide my ol' TS-XW has never felt so perfectly connected with a virtual car.
Hopefully I can use some if this new knowledge to get my settings just as dialed in with my other games.
Edit: Just read some of the other comments and its seems like there are quite a few people with the TS-XW and they feel the same way, kinda interesting.

For real, though, this helped me a ton. Forza's descriptions of these adjustments are not clear at all and I'm pretty sure are mostly copy pasted from FM7 ("from the ground up" my ass).
    Keep up the amazing work!

Here sir, have a like! Excellent baselines and with some custom tweaking to personal preferrence, it made my old csw 2.5 feel very nice. I actually did not think forza could ever feel this good, it is not assetto corsa but i gotta admit, it is up there. Great video❤

Mind sharing your Assetto Corsa settings? I have the CSW V2.5 and I feel like Forza FFB feels better than Assetto Corsa.

@@akaspoonn the difference between forza and ac ffb is that forza is using all sorts of "artificial" elements to give you the different sensatsions of the car...in a way its cool but but true ffb in AC just feels better imo. But here are my AC settings:
Wheelbase: SEN 900, FFB 100, DRI 2, FOR 100, DPR 100, SPR 100, BRF what ever you like the best.
AC Settings: Gain 65% (also have to adjust per car setting but usually 75%) works best for me. Filter 0, Minimum force 0, all the effects 0, enhanced understeer effect 0 and soft lock is activated.
Center boost range is 10% and experimental settings are on with gyroscopic effect. In this setting Damper gain is 100%
Bare in mind, order of these settings are as displayed in Content Manager.
I feel like even if you dont like these settings right away, it gives u a good baseline to work from.

So, I've got this game for free through gamepass and my buddy and I both just got Moza R5 wheels. We've tried out assetto, auto mobilista, etc. but find that the multiplayer aspect (having to choose a specific server to join) and the complexity and annoyance of having to constantly back out to change settings, adjust ffb, etc. is really frustrating. Ease of use is definitely on the low end, though the FFB is incredibly detailed and realistic.
We've been spending most our time in Forza Horizon 5, simply for the ease of playing together, variety of surfaces/cars/race types, ease of adjusting settings, and so on. However, the FFB leaves a lot to be desired in comparison to Assetto. Obviously this is understandable because its more of an arcade, but I have felt for many years that Horizon needs to update its FFB engine. Anyway, I have thought about playing Forza Motorsport, because I am under the assumption that the FFB is at least slightly more realistic and ease of use in terms of playing together, changing settings, etc. is still there and far better than Assetto, but I have heard mixed reviews about the game itself.
Is Forza Motorsport a bad experience, or are people just complaining because it wasnt necessarily all they were hoping for? Was it maybe bad at launch and since gotten better? I'm curious what you think is a good balance when it comes to ease of use for Novice sim racers and also detailed FFB.
    Thanks!

im not as knowledgeable on these types of things on what settings to change where i dont have to "Big toe" the brake and throttle like im in spongebob and i have messed around with the settings but figured you the internet knows best.

It's crazy how different setups vary for wheels and different drivers. I have a Logitech G920 and my setup is way different than some of your recommendations here. I have been racing in online Forza lobbies for years and feel like I have a pretty quick setup. First I don't run sim steering because I'm a veteran of online lobbies. I know first hand that when someone bashes into you. (and they will..) Sim steering is much harder to recover and in previous games has always felt to snappy. I haven't played with it to much here. But if you do a lot of online racing normal steering is usually better.
I tuned my vibration scale all the way down because I think a properly tuned wheel doesn't need extra vibration. I agree force feedback is like a master volume switch. Mine is relatively low as I use the other adjustments to fine tune my wheels overall feel. Mechanical and pneumatic scales I agree are probably some of the most important tuning calibrations for this game. I don't believe belt and gear setups benefit from lower mechanical and higher pneumatic settings though. My mechanical is almost maxed out because I prefer to have as much machine feedback as my wheel will allow. and pneumatic settings I found work best lowered at a ratio of about 110-130 points below my mechanical setting. It creates a sweet spot where you have the mechanical weight of the car and the assistance, or feeling of power steering.
Road feel is a setting I think should be mostly left alone until all your other wheel tuning is done. If after you've made all your adjustments you still don't feel the road enough then you can come back to this. I think load sensitivity should always be turned up close to if not the maximum. The more feel for tire load changes the better. This is why your overall force feedback scale is so important to get right.
I have my wheel dampening maxed out the complete opposite of what you suggest. This might be because I have a gear driven wheel and this is probably very different for direct drive wheels. My wheel feels very well balanced with this turned up. I would play with this setting before I adjusted force feedback scale to set your road feel and wheel resistance. I do agree with you that center spring values are not needed if your wheel is tuned properly. Having this to high can cause some wheels to shudder and bounce in the center.
I have my dynamic damper behaviour all the way up because of how much I have my wheel damping scale turned up. Having this higher preserves the detail in your wheel when tires start to slip. This seems pretty important to me. I have my steering sensitivity turned all the way up too. This may be different for direct drive wheels. But having a sensitive steering wheel that responds to the smallest input from the driver is also very important to me.
All and all I think this is a good video. But, I think I will stick with my setup. It's gotten me a few top ten leaderboard times so far this week and I love how the cars feel in this game with my setup.

Amazing work, got some really good settings for myself on my CSL Elite (the belt drive one) much more enjoyable to play with the wheel now!
Its not AC but its much better than "good enough" and miles better than previous forza games. Your explanation was also awesome for helping explain what all the feedback its giving is indicating which helpedy driving immensely.
I personally like a bit of centering spring, just feels less "floaty" for me and im more precise with it. Maybe one of these day ill pony up for a DD.

@@FUTRat-eg7dx 10, it's just enough to have some on center feel that the game lacks without it. You could go a bit more without it affecting other things too much though. Also prevents the death wobble at low speeds.
