How did you manage to have the app in the android auto menu on the car? I followed every step but looks like the app is installed only on the phone but not on the android auto
@@simeonpetrov4398 You have to have developer mode turned on in your phones android auto. Than under developer options you can choose to show unknown sources.
Harry, I was able to get everything to work as shown in the video, however, no videos from any apps, Netflix, Disney, spectrum none will play video. Video shows on phone and only audio over vehicle. But, Pluto tv app works and some of Plex. Lots of errors now trying to use Plex. I was under the impression screen2auto would direclty mirror phone to HU. Some apps on phone work with HU others do not. Somewhat of a nightmare getting to this point only to be let down. I will say your tutorial/video was spot on. Very good material. Thankyou.
I'm glad you found my video useful! I've been looking for a solution to the Netflix, Disney, etc. apps for AA but I've found absolutely nothing in the last few years that actually works. I've tried everything and still no luck at all. Yeah some apps like plex did work but the content is no match to the other apps which is why I deleted the app many months ago. I'm still looking for proper solution to netflix and hopefully I'll find something to showcase in one of my future videos. I did find out that rooted phones are able to view the videos in head units along with audio but neither have I tried it myself nor do I recommend it as that will void the phone's warranty.
@@HarryWT Harry, somewhat related to topic, is there a way to get AA and apps such as carstream , fermata etc to play/view on rear monitor? I'm using the wired version of AA on 2016 Tahoe. Others I've seen using the DLNA for wireless connectivity with AA to both HU and rear but I do not have the wireless capability. My AA only displays on front HU. A work around that I've used for both front and rear is using a screambeammini2 dongle (HDMI to VA converter) with RCA component under aux option from rear console to mirror the phone without restrictions, however picture quality is greatly reduced from HDMI to analog. I also have video in motion module installed so viewing while in drive isn't a problem. Carstream with/Plex or S2A under AA is the goal on both front and rear screens. Any suggestions would be awesome.

Harry, hopefully you can help. Previously I was able to get Pluto to play videos with no problem using S2A , now everything is mirrored to HU except video. Screen goes black. I uninstalled everything from S2A and reinstalled and same problem. Also cannot get phone screen to auto flip 90° on HU . Any ideas?
@@jbucks166 for the black screen you'll have to try selecting either of the 3 profiles repeatedly and reconnect a few times as it isn't really streamlined yet, in my experience. for the screen orientation, go to screen settings in the app and select the desired orientation in the second option. 5:50
Thanks Harry! Well done. I watched the video many times to get those settings just right. I am connecting wireless using my Z Flip 4 (Android v13). I noticed my phone heats up pretty fast, especially since I have to keep the phone screen on the whole time I am watching from the car screen. Any thoughts on how I can minimize the work my flip phone is doing? Is there a setting that will allow me to close the flip without killing the head unit? Unfortunately, my 2017 Mercedes does NOT have a touch screen. The only way I was able to get Android Auto for it was to buy the GTA conversion kit.
Glad it worked for you! I'm not really sure what app or feature can help conserving the battery life. However, upon some research just now, I found out 1 app that might just do the trick. It's called the black screen and it's available in play store. See if that helps. Do let me know too if it does work so that I can let everyone here know as well.

Unfortunately, none of the latest android 14 devices are able to access these sort of apps any more. The only known alternative now is to use android boxes such as this one: th-cam.com/video/rbzUF1I1hSo/w-d-xo.html

Glad it worked for you. It didn't impact my phone till now and many have been using it too. If you feel it is impacting your phone in any way simply delete the app at that point.

Glad it worked for you. Maybe it has something to do with the app settings that we checked. Try changing the brightness, or anything similar, from there.
Yes, I'm planning to do that but none of my phones have the android 14 update yet apart from Pixel which just seems to work differently from all other phone brands. By the end of this month hopefully I'll have a video or 2 of it on Android 14.
Which phone are you using? Ideally it should've worked on android 13. Since it isn't working the only cause could be the latest android auto version in the car. Still looking for a solution to this ongoing issue but no luck yet.

Hy Harry, thanks for the video, the app works good on Ford Sync 3.4. Regarding to the app, it doesn't show the video from Netflix or other Sattelite TV app. It shows the menu, audio works, but the image of the movie it's not being shown(on telephone is playing ok). Happy to know that it worked for you. Regarding Netflix and other such apps, the apps themselves have restricted mirroring access on the car's head units and is common for all factory fitted infotainment systems. I get the same issue you are facing as well. Unfortunately, there is no way around that using any app whatsoever in my extensive testing. Glad to know s2a is working for you. However, with reference to OTT apps like Netflix, there is no workaround to mirror it on the car screen as I've tried every possible method. Glad to help! The problem may be due to an incompatible phone unless the infotainment unit didn't come preinstalled in your car. If none of the 3 options worked even after several attempts then I'm afraid this method won't work for you. Nonetheless, you can try several other ways to watch the videos. I noticed it didn't work for me either the first few times but then it worked. You can try that. There doesn't seem to be any other alternative though.

Success. Everything's working. Keys for me: Turn on Accessibilty in settings. Native touch setting did not work at all. Alternative 1 was good for TAP but not scroll. Alternative 2 was good for scroll not touch. Alternative 3 is good for all. I shut off car before trying each new option. Yay! Thanks again.
@Joes-xi1qg I am using an S20+ and cannot get the car touch screen to work with screen2auto. I have the app turned on is accessibility, and switched the option 3 in the app. Shut all apps, turned off car, etc. Booted everything back up, but no touch. Anyone have any ideas?

Glad it worked for you. Unfortunately, streaming apps don't allow screen mirroring in car screen. And AA mirror / plus have stopped working for everyone now which is why I made this video instead.

Hi. I appreciate your kind words and am glad everything worked out for you. Unfortunately, the AA Mirror and AA Mirror plus stopped working on all my phones. There doesn't seem to be any solution to that as of now. I'm still looking into it though. And yeah, there isn't any solution for netflix, amazon, etc. I tried a lot of methods but none of them worked.
The issue with streaming Apps such as Netflix etc is that they have DRM protection and is set to block video playback whilst a vehicle is in motion for road safety.

So I've just followed everyone of your steps with everything downloaded from your site. Everything seems to work on profile2 except my streaming apps (Netflix, AmazonPrimeVideo, ect...) show everything except the actual video. Strange cause things like NC17 and other display things show, and scrolling the playback bar show the screenshots as you go. Any ideas?
Yeah, those apps don't allow screen mirroring. That's why you can see just a black screen and possible the subtitles too. There is no solution for that as of now, unfortunately.
The touch screen doesn't work with screen2auto. I out it on all 3 selections and retarted android auto. My phone can operate the screen but it doesn't work the other way around

It's basically because the app is not available in google playstore. You may choose not to install it, I understand since this is a 3rd party app and we don't know how safe it actually is.
Yes, it's normal. Unfortunately, these apps have themselves restricted mirroring capabilities on car screens which is why we usually get the black screen with working audio and subtitles. Don't download either the AA Mirror or AA Mirror plus as they no longer work for most of us. Did you try this app? You can also sideload the apps without AAAD as shown in the later parts of this series.

Correct. Those apps have set a limitation on android auto because of which we cannot see the video while audio is there. No solution to that in terms of apps. But you can use an external device for that, video out tomorrow: th-cam.com/video/sRhK496wM_Y/w-d-xo.html
@@HarryWT Whether it's connected or not even connected when I play a TH-cam video for example after a few minutes the audio goes out of sync, in other words the voice no longer matches the movement of the mouth of the people talking on the TH-cam videos. Is there a way to fix this?

Screen2Auto was installing fine on my phone through AAAD but after the march update it won't show up in AA launcher after installing it. It was still working after the update but I uninstalled it to change some settings and after uninstalling it I can't get it to show back up in AA. This march update really messed up my set up. It's aggravating. Any suggestions? I've tried AAEase but that doesn't work either.

Installed it but not exactly how it went. But after installation even thought I can tap on the screen on any profile nothing actually works. No applications can be started or anything can be viewed. Even TH-cam doesn't work. Oh, and my phone wants to uninstall it because it think it is a malware.
@@HarryWT What do you mean by redo the steps? APP is installed and shows up on my car screen. I can click on it and it opens up with 3 icons on the bottom. I can also go to the apps from inside and it shows all my apps from the phone. The only problem is if I click on any of them nothing opens. I thought it was some kind of the setting you knew about.

I have Android 14 my smartphone is Google Pixel 6a and Android auto 11, it no longer works, I cannot activate all the buttons of screen2auto, android blocks the process (restricted parameter)

AA is 11.3.640614 Followed your video until 5th minute but cheking AA hidden apps there is only a few to choose (checked apps are also the same list). Actually those which were there before. A73 samsung android 13 Phone worked with AAAD it seems google play protection is stopping it I really o ly want it to show navigation apps that aren't allowed in android auto like Memory map for all

It's not included in the playstore and is thus considered unsafe. However, I've been using it on few of my phones without any issues.

Glad it worked for you! I'm not really sure what app or feature can help conserving the battery life. However, upon some research just now, I found out 1 app that might just do the trick. It's called the black screen and it's available in play store. See if that helps. Do let me know too if it does work so that I can let everyone here know as well.

Unfortunately, none of the latest android 14 devices are able to access these sort of apps any more. The only known alternative now is to use android boxes such as this one: th-cam.com/video/rbzUF1I1hSo/w-d-xo.html

Glad it worked for you. It didn't impact my phone till now and many have been using it too. If you feel it is impacting your phone in any way simply delete the app at that point.

Hi followed your video and it worked perfectly on my Motorola edge 30 ultra , I just have one problem when not connected to android auto the phone keeps going from 100% brightness to 50% brightness by itself the automatic brightness is turned off too. Any idea why it's doing this ? Thanks again

Yes, I'm planning to do that but none of my phones have the android 14 update yet apart from Pixel which just seems to work differently from all other phone brands. By the end of this month hopefully I'll have a video or 2 of it on Android 14.

Which phone are you using? Ideally it should've worked on android 13. Since it isn't working the only cause could be the latest android auto version in the car. Still looking for a solution to this ongoing issue but no luck yet.

Regarding to the app, it doesn't show the video from Netflix or other Sattelite TV app. It shows the menu, audio works, but the image of the movie it's not being shown(on telephone is playing ok). Happy to know that it worked for you. Regarding Netflix and other such apps, the apps themselves have restricted mirroring access on the car's head units and is common for all factory fitted infotainment systems. I get the same issue you are facing as well. Unfortunately, there is no way around that using any app whatsoever in my extensive testing. Glad to know s2a is working for you. However, with reference to OTT apps like Netflix, there is no workaround to mirror it on the car screen as I've tried every possible method. Glad to help! The problem may be due to an incompatible phone unless the infotainment unit didn't come preinstalled in your car. If none of the 3 options worked even after several attempts then I'm afraid this method won't work for you. Nonetheless, you can try several other ways to watch the videos. I noticed it didn't work for me either the first few times but then it worked. You can try that. There doesn't seem to be any other alternative though.

Success. Everything's working. Keys for me: Turn on Accessibilty in settings. Native touch setting did not work at all. Alternative 1 was good for TAP but not scroll. Alternative 2 was good for scroll not touch. Alternative 3 is good for all. I shut off car before trying each new option. Yay! Thanks again.

Unfortunately, none of the streaming apps allow mirroring the videos on an external display due to safety and security reasons.

Glad it worked for you. Unfortunately, streaming apps don't allow screen mirroring in car screen. And AA mirror / plus have stopped working for everyone now which is why I made this video instead.
So now for my note 10 i wait 1 month to download screen2auto

Hi. I appreciate your kind words and am glad everything worked out for you. Unfortunately, the AA Mirror and AA Mirror plus stopped working on all my phones. There doesn't seem to be any solution to that as of now. I'm still looking into it though. And yeah, there isn't any solution for netflix, amazon, etc. I tried a lot of methods but none of them worked.
The issue with streaming Apps such as Netflix etc is that they have DRM protection and is set to block video playback whilst a vehicle is in motion for road safety.

So I've just followed everyone of your steps with everything downloaded from your site. Everything seems to work on profile2 except my streaming apps (Netflix, AmazonPrimeVideo, ect...) show everything except the actual video. Strange cause things like NC17 and other display things show, and scrolling the playback bar show the screenshots as you go. Any ideas?
Yeah, those apps don't allow screen mirroring. That's why you can see just a black screen and possible the subtitles too. There is no solution for that as of now, unfortunately.

It's basically because the app is not available in google playstore. You may choose not to install it, I understand since this is a 3rd party app and we don't know how safe it actually is.

Yes, it's normal. Unfortunately, these apps have themselves restricted mirroring capabilities on car screens which is why we usually get the black screen with working audio and subtitles. I'm not really sure why it didn't work for you. Where did you download the s2a app? Try redoing everything but use my apps instead, both of them.
Unfortunately, this does not work for the z fold. It has its own screen in the car and does mirror the phone.

Don't download either the AA Mirror or AA Mirror plus as they no longer work for most of us. Did you try this app? You can also sideload the apps without AAAD as shown in the later parts of this series.

When connected via a wire it was in sync. However, in wireless there is a bit of a lag.
@@HarryWT Whether it's connected or not even connected when I play a TH-cam video for example after a few minutes the audio goes out of sync, in other words the voice no longer matches the movement of the mouth of the people talking on the TH-cam videos. Is there a way to fix this?

Screen2Auto was installing fine on my phone through AAAD but after the march update it won't show up in AA launcher after installing it. It was still working after the update but I uninstalled it to change some settings and after uninstalling it I can't get it to show back up in AA. This march update really messed up my set up. It's aggravating. Any suggestions? I've tried AAEase but that doesn't work either.

Installed it but not exactly how it went. But after installation even thought I can tap on the screen on any profile nothing actually works. No applications can be started or anything can be viewed. Even TH-cam doesn't work. Oh, and my phone wants to uninstall it because it think it is a malware.
Yeah, phones will try to uninstall it since it isn't available in google playstore. I think you might have to redo the steps.

Sorry, I haven't come across such an issue so I cannot confirm the solution to this. Perhaps you can check the phone settings maybe some feature or application is causing this issue.

Hi. thnx for that video but cant get it work. Phone is galaxy A52 with android 14 (one UI 6.0 ). AA is 11.3.640614 Followed your video until 5th minute but cheking AA hidden apps there is only a few to choose (checked apps are also the same list). Actually those which were there before. Any thoughts?
The latest android version is causing a lot of issues and I'm currently looking into it for a solution.

Phone worked with AAAD it seems google play protection is stopping it I really o ly want it to show navigation apps that aren't allowed in android auto like Memory map for all

Unfortunately, all pixel phones are facing this same issue. I'm planning to buy a pixel phone too as soon as possible to get this thing resolved. I'll upload a video if I find a solution.
