I Installed an Adjustable Exhaust on My BMW M2 and It Sounds Wild - XForce Varex Exhaust DIY

- Turbo engines don't always make the best sound, and that's really what's been bugging me about my M2. This car is super fun to drive, and very powerful, but it wasn't exactly inspiring to listen to.
That's why I partnered up with XForce. XForce is an Australian based company that makes affordable quality exhausts for a huge range of cars. In fact, I've actually already installed one of their exhaust on a previous car with great results.
Follow along this episode as I not only show you how to install an exhaust on a F87 M2, but also give before and after sound clips of what it now sounds like.

No joke. It sounds fantastic. I would keep the valve open all the time.
What did you do with the original bmw valve control plug and did it throw a code if not plugged in somewhere? Love the vid, looking at doing the same and found this very helpful, cheers
Sounds great! What's next for that car?
I really like it as is, so not sure. Any suggestions??
@@EatSleepDrive here are some ideas ranging from nearly free to quite expensive (combination of what I've already done and what I'm about to do):
Code out the ASD if it's not done yet (bimmercode or protool, there's also an ASD defeat harness that you can get)
Code in CS software for steering, LSD, dtc (use protool or esys, or pay someone to do it remotely, maybe a dealer can do it as well)
Charge pipe since OEM plastic fails
Intercooler upgrade
High flow sport cat downpipe (unless you're ok with decat)
Intake if you want more turbo noises
Inlet and dv upgrade if you want a more better throttle response and to avoid leakage
Custom tune with bm3 or whatever you like, although at high elevation it likely makes sense to do a turbo upgrade to tte460 or pure stage 2 (or you can go cheaper with dinan big turbo), would likely also need to upgrade hpfp with a turbo upgrade, or you can just do an ots bm3 tune and code out the aggressive cold start and stupid burbles (or make it burble more or less, as much as you like really) as well as adjust the throttle response and tie rev matching to modes, enable max cooling mode and what not
Square 18" wheel and tire setup (M2CS racing wheels look awesome, but require big spacers, camber and stud conversion)
All kinds of m performance carbons and reflector deletes and what not to make it purdy
Maybe some little mud flap from automotive passion or some other brand (can't remember the name right now) to protect the car from throwing pebbles all over itself
Maybe some mesh for the front grilles
autosolutions short shift kit as well as e90 slave to remove cdv for sure
Ultimate clutch pedal
Better brake pads and fluid for sure
Ohlins road sport or something decent to replace stock economy car level suspension
Camber correction hubs or adjustable front LCAs unless you're ok with camber plates to combat turn in understeer
Front thrust arm monoball conversion
Dual mount rear diff plate and bushings (single OEM bushing on early cars fails), should help with traction and wheel hop too
Rogue engineering trans mounts
Adjustable end links for front sway bar if doing coilovers, maybe M2CS racing front sway bar as well if you get coilovers with softer front springs so it doesn't lose as much camber under load
Dinan rear suspension links with SPL eccentric lockout (or spl toe links with traction arms, or ground control links) to reduce the variation in rear toe under load
Speaker upgrades (+amp if desired afterwards)
Add sound insulation from regular 2 series back to the car to make it more better for road trips and highway
Idk about M2CS racing wing, looks kind of weird, will see how it feels after I have the suspension dialed in
3d printed bracket to make the wireless charging pad accept bigger phones
More aggressive seats like sportster CS would be nice, or pole positions or something similar with rear seat delete for weight savings if you don't need the back seat.
Whatever else I forgot here

Why on Earth does BMW have so many different kinds of fasteners? The goal should be to have as many of the fasteners be the same size as possible. BMW doesn't even use the same type of fastener - hex, Torx, E Torx, Allen. What a ridiculous decision.
I was scratching my head as well while doing this job. The sheer amount of random tools you need to do the simplest stuff always boggles my mind on German cars.
@@EatSleepDrive It's irritating enough when they use 10, 12, 13, & 14 mm fasteners all in one area. Why couldn't they standardize on two sizes?
But to use three different types of fasteners is just ridiculous. Think how that must complicate BMW's own inventory system.
Should I sell my frs and get an M2?
Depends. M2 is about faster but limits are higher. In some ways that’s more or less fun depending on how you look at it. I would say it is a logical progression in terms of stepping up to something more refined and well built.
Better get a bm3 and turn off the nasty burbles.
