From "Parks & Recreation": a mockumentary series following Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), the deputy director of the Parks and Recreation department in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana. That's exactly what happened. The writers said in an interview that Aubrey's weirdness and sarcasm irl was so funny to the writers that they created April for her.
that’s literally what happened tho her character didn’t exist but someone involved in production met her and decided that she needed a character on the show
I always figured they saw her in Scott Pilgrim and just said "hey just do that, with less swearing."

Lol, I've actually known someone exactly like April really confusing words exchanged and when you think she's kidding she's not. It's a level of sarcasm that can't be reached. So, it's funny to watch but I know that one day with April and I would be so annoyed. It would be amusing for like 5 minutes though. I actually met the friend before finding this show so when I watched it was so crazy to see April be exactly like this person I know.
Yep. She'll be fun in you spend time 10 mins max. weekly. More than that, it starts from annoying to infuriating (corelated to the number of minutes above 10).
I'm at like 60% of that level of sarcasm and chaos, and people tend to really enjoy it. I think if I went further, it would probably start reaching the "too far" category.

Everyone is pointing out that she is mean specially to Ann, and I dont see anyone explaining why, so I feel I need to. Ann not just used to date Andy but kiss him when he was already with April. So thats why despite of been kind of mean to anyone she is specially mean to Ann. Well and Jerry, but everyone is mean to Jerry and thats the only thing I dont like about the show.
Dont worry, Jerry has the best life, so no matter what they do or say to Jerry, he is living the best life and will never take it to heart. Besides, im sure deep down they all really love Jerry and just make fun of him as a sort of friend or just cause he keeps letting it happen, maybe as a sort of stress release for his co-workers.

The thing that she does that makes her different is that always looks at someone in the corner or top of her eyes. She doesn't turn her head to the direction of whoever she's talking to. She just moves here pupils to a corner of the eye, so it looks more demeaning like you're not fully acknowledging them.
