Knowing the end is near, I had to come back and re-live this. I remember watching this at work and when the official press photos were released I immediately changed my desktop background to one of them. Thank you so much to Sergio Marchionne (RIP) and all the Ferrari engineers that worked on this of art and driving excellence 💯 It will be missed but I’ll be hanging on to my Giulia Quadrifoglio for a long time!!!

pSyk The car was designed at the Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, by a team headed by Marco Tencone and including Senior Exterior Designer, Andrea Loi, along with Interior Chief Designer, Inna Kondakova and Senior Interior Designer, Manuele Amprimo. Development of the Giulia, and indeed of the entire project codenamed "Giorgio" (longitudinal-engined, rear-wheel drive platform), has been overseen by Ferrari technical director and secondee, Philippe Krief. Where is funny? Maybe you are talking about Harald Wester, Chief Technology Officer, Head of Alfa Romeo and Maserati? Yes, he is german, great manager and mechanical engineer. So? A pleasure listening to this gentleman. Who is he? Here in Europe Alfa Romeo is steadily moving away from the past and the less fortunate times with reliability problems mostly corrosion (affecting most of auto makers till late 80's) and electrical issues. Alfa Romeos are made for the sheer pleasure of having one, to detach from the German and Asian crowd and are driver's cars rather than only a vehicle to take you from A to B. US market, being more demanding and dynamic, will definitely be an opportunity for this Italian brand to grow and compete with many of the renown German competitors.

They've been baiting us with this Alfa Romeo USA comeback (and I'm not talking about semi-exotic cars either) for about 15 years now. This car is lovely, but I'll have to see it to believe it.

How is this vehicle different from my 2016 Maserati Ghibli? The horsepower may be slightly higher, but the rest of the car seems to be about the same.

Ferrari pwns the Porsche 911... with an Alfa Romeo full size sedan. It begins, super expensive plan to deal through Chrysler network unfolds. Distribution and reliability will initially hold it back.

Italian build quality - as reliable as Soviet-era Russian cars that fall to pieces all the time. You buy them because they look pretty, women want to spread their legs for you... the sound is gorgeous..but wait till you actually own one. You wonder why you see so many Lexus, Toyota, Hyundais on the road? They sell for a reason. The Italians have a reputation of conceit that is well out of common sense reasonable rationale. Its irrational and illogical, but the art work is what lures us into thinking they are good.
Italian quality.... Does not change.. Even if it were raised to the divine...

Italians my friend are 10 years ahead in car engineering technology is not only the bodywork.. A great racing history, too many automotive innovations.. Look back to 50's when Lancia manufactured hi-fidelity cars (Aurelia, Aurelia spider etc) at that time what kind of cars manufactured from Toyota, Honda, Hyundai etc.. You know how many other car manufactures today uses FIAT's powertrain units? Especially diesel engines.. Why??

It looks dated. Not sure what about it but it reminds me of a higher end Hyundai. Fairly dead certain I've seen those rims about 10 years ago on a ricer car back when I was in high school. I remember their shape because I remember their shape bothering me then as much as they apparently do now.
As far as this race pitch...99.9% of cars don't see professional racing. They see some freeway speeding and some lead footing on on ramps. I'm all for innovations in weight and power but if you sell a 99.9% car you go with the luxury power tech trifecta rather than history race carbon fiber accent crap. Carbon fiber accents in my 06 Passat from the factory... Shit looks cheap.
