    Yes please for the MIG demo. I love how a Jeep is instantly recognizable even when it is in pieces! Your building process is outstanding!

      Ok. Just be patient with your sheetmetal work and you will find that you won't have to use buckets of filler on your project. Keep watching many more videos to come.

    Very nice. I know how much work it takes, and you do a very good job. I enjoy your videos, because there real and your work is done to a restoration quality. I also know the behind the scenes work that we as viewers don't see, patterns, templates, multiple measurements, etc. Once again, nice work and thanks for the schooling.

    Finally ran the numbers for the CJ project. According to the block # 4FR13121 and body ser# this turns out to be a later model CJ3A…
    I’m cleaning up the block and parts…shopping for a head for the F134….and now a 3A body. I’m too old to make all those parts myself. This is going to be a parade jeep…

    Really interesting!!!!!!!!
    Thank you, will be watching as much as I watch "Old Time Steam Powered Machine Shop."
    I want to make the "finger joints" for a wood bodied station wagon and a wood bodied convertible, and a wood bodied sedan, also how to make and use a "steam box" to curve wood.
    I wish I was 30 years younger!!!!

    The CJ is quite a bit different to the GPW/MB, is there a doubler inside the top fold over of the body on this ? You are spot on about the accuracy of the panel fit on to the outer panels, just a little bit out and it distorts the flat outer panels, it is also critical in which order you spot weld them, this one is coming along very well. Thanks for posting. Chris B.

    • @metalshaperJeep
      @metalshaperJeep  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes there is a doubler on the top edge of the panel. I have not installed those pieces yet but will soon in another video. Thanks for watching and commenting, much more to come.

    Nice work im just starting out on sheet metal work having only been involved in bar rod and plate until now. The welding primers you use seem great but I was always taught galvanised and welding is nota good mix...... particularly in respect of fumes and metal fever etc. Id like to know more about the cold galvanic primer you use

    • @metalshaperJeep
      @metalshaperJeep  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everything is a danger in the auto restoration world. Welding fumes, paint fumes, oil and grease is bad for you,......etc...... You just have to be careful about what you do and take precautions to ensure your safety. Respirators and other personal protection devices should be part of your routine when working.

    In a previous vid you were "shaping" the side panel before any "shrinking" or plenishing hammering .... where did you get the STEEL templates you used to pound the edges of the side panel around the edge of the template ? Did you make these yourself, or can you purchase them from some fabricator ?

    • @metalshaperJeep
      @metalshaperJeep  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I made all my own hammer forms. Flame cut and then worked by hand to the correct shape. I was lucky enough to have NOS sheetmetal panels to work from. Made patterns off of the original parts and used them for the hammer forms. Tough to get a good form without a good pattern. Remember the panel is only as accurate as the form.

    Except for cost of stainless steel why wouldn't it be better to make the body all stainless steel? Wouldn't it last about forever?

    been watching a few ep's i was wondering is this the way it was made originally

    • @metalshaperJeep
      @metalshaperJeep  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      all of the body parts were originally made in huge stamping presses with specific dies. The dies and presses are long gone and this is how things are hand made now.

    How do you keep the metal from flash rusting?

    • @metalshaperJeep
      @metalshaperJeep  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I keep the shop climate dry, and that helps with any rusting issues.

    Man, watch some youtbe videos about filming. These videos are almost impossible to watch because your zoomed in, hand held and moving. Check your analytics page and you can see when people stop watching. Create more dynamic content with first a tripod and more wide shots mixed in with closer details and more structure such as intro, content and closing. Later lighting, edits and sound come in to take it to the next level. Your parts are hand crafted, take the same steps when making your videos. Brand identity and culture are important aspects of what we do. Like who are you? How'd you get into this? What fun and neat tool features can you do having specificly to do which making these bodies. Fun facts like how the radius on the rear corner of a flafender tub is because the machine that formed it came from a washing machine factory. And so on..

    • @metalshaperJeep
      @metalshaperJeep  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am trying my best to bring out better videos. Was hoping to find someone who wanted to do the filming for me while working but can't seem to get anybody who is interested. Very hard to set up the camera and do the work at the same time. IF you watch some later videos you may see some improvement. Thanks for the comment, and stick around the videos will get better.

      I can tell you I didn't stop watching because of the production methods. It's hard to focus on filming and the project at the same time. For those of us interested in your fabrication methods...👍

      I'd watch you sweep the shop floor!!!! I understand there is most always a better way to make a mouse trap ( filming). But your work and attitude are such that I'd watch your videos if you filmed them with a flashlight! I think you're great at what you do and you come across as a fair and honest person. I put you right up there with Covell. Keep up what you're doing!
