- SEGA has produced countless games over the years, and continue to support several noteworthy franchises. Some of them, however, seem to have been left behind, and their 1995 platforming gem Ristar is one of them. Today, we look at the brilliant Genesis platform Ristar and explore why it's worth playing to this day, and why the series never went anywhere. #SEGA #SegaGenesis #Ristar

What are some forgotten franchises, SEGA or otherwise, that you want to see come back?
I would LOVE to see another Bonanza Bros game.
@@GumshoeGamer Ah, not too familiar with that one, but it's definitely on my list of games to try out!
*cries in jet set radio*
Yet another franchise I need to try out!
I know they already brought back donkey Kong country games. And they are good. But I would kill for another dkc game with the same graphics, atmosphere and music as the first 3
Sequel should be
Ristar and Knuckles
Ristar is literally my favorite game ever to be 100% honest this game brings me pure joy and every time I sit back and think about how it may never return makes me wanna cry anyways this is an amazing review and I'm glad ristar still has people talking
Thank you so much! I'd definitely love to see Ristar come back in the future. I know it isn't likely, but I think there's absolutely still an audience for it!
To this day, I wish Ristar had a trilogy.
Complete with lock on tech
u mean like sonic lock on or like zelda Z targeting...?
Aiming is part of the skill, why remove that?
Ristar and Knuckles
I guess this title really ... grabbed you. Great video! It's very informative!
Well I gotta...hand it to you, you're right on the money!
I love this cute little star! The more curious and overall cuter design is a nice contrast against Sonic’s “cool, bad boy” attitude and aesthetic. I’ve always considered Ristar as somewhat of a little brother to Sonic. He lives in his shadow, and personally I think he shines brighter than Sonic does. I would love to see a sequel, but I also don’t want the series to follow Sonic’s footsteps. There’s a big part of me that thinks he is perfect where he is. Ristar was important to not only the fans, but SEGA as a company as well. If they do indeed end up bringing him back, I hope he is still the Ristar we know and love. He has so much potential. Though overlooked, he has a well deserved spot in the hearts of all SEGA fans.
Well said! I'd love to see a Ristar sequel as well. If they leaned into the "simple is better" approach again, a new Ristar game has lots of potential.
Cool video, I love how high quality the audio and visuals are. Can't wait for your next video!
Thank you! If all goes well you shouldn't have to wait long - I plan to release a new video tomorrow!
I’ve seen him around as a joke for smash for years and never knew where he cane from
Ristar would actually make a great addition to Smash if it wasn't for his limited moveset. It could possibly work, though!
@@CloudConnection man they could have fun with him. His extendo grab is perfect for Smash. His shooting star animation could make for an excellent attack kind of like how Capt Falcon and others have a dash type attack. Do a little ground smash for a short range but double sided attack. Lots of freedom bc of his unique abilities imo
Amazing, simply amazing. I didn't expect so much quality from the title. Great work. I would only argue that Ristar's character design could use some more work to fully nail the essence of the original design. But that's subjective, of course :)
Great video my man! Freaking love your content
Really good video -- Keep up the good work, man.
14:18 I was hoping to hear Busy Flare's awesome bass break (at 14:42), great OST indeed
12:03 Some of us enjoy being completionists :P
It's something about those old sound tracks that just brings the joy, btw if you ever host a live both I'll make it my best effort to meet you 👍🏾
I'd love that! And yeah, this soundtrack really takes me back every time I hear it.
I knew about this because I played it on the sonic mega collection plus and other bigger 1 on the Xbox 360 ( I don't have it anymore because it broke) also dynamite headdy is good
UMMMMMMMM!!!

It's Ristar.
i think his name is supposed to be short for "rising star" so /Ry-star/ makes sense to me

I grew up with German so R'ee'star was more natural to me.
In Katakana we get リスター (Ristaa) which sounds more like 'ree'... Dun think there's a wrong way to say it tho.
Say Raigh-Star if that sounds better to you ☺
Yay I am 1st
I have no prize for you unfortunately, but congrats anyway!
@@CloudConnection Oh well, gotta say this video was great! I always loved Ristar even when I 1st played it on The Ultimate Genesis Collection
