“Pure sine”, there is one reason why it is more expensive. Many of the DC inverters have a modified site wave, and are cheaper. This will not harm electronics. On the “feature”, a hack is to connect an electrical timer that would turn on every 50 minutes for about 2 minutes that would turn on something more than 80 watts. I found this information on another channel. So, does this mean it is definitely meant for a contractor site, and not the home user? Ego does have a solar powered attachment they have just announced for their Battery Powered Generator, and they don’t auto power off with lower power draw devices are connected for an hour. Based on the comparison between Ego, Dewalt, and Milwaukee, I would probably go with the Ego.

Cheapest was the Ego, the Dewalt, then Milwaukee. They even say that the Milwaukee is definitely geared toward construction. The Dewalt is a little older, so technology isn’t up to date as the others. I believe I saw a price of $500 for the Ego, without batteries.

It’s because it’s Pure Sine Wave Power. Meaning clean power not raw power that a conventional generator produces . you can power LED TVs , even a microwave! Regular Gennys can’t make that unless you get an inverter generator which does the same thing as this but look at the price difference of those Generators
@@tannermartin7263 To the best of my knowledge, the alternator on a "conventional" generator (or at least what I think you mean by that) does produce a "pure sine wave", in that it's not filtered from a pulse width modulated DC voltage like many cheap DC-->AC inverters*. On the other hand, it won't necessarily be frequency stable, or voltage stable. To be frequency stable, the engine would have to hold either 3600 RPM or 1800 RPM, depending on how many poles the alternator has. I don't think an alternator without correction can be voltage stable at constant RPM; please correct me if I'm wrong. An inverter marketed as "pure sine wave" will probably also yield a sine wave that's not mathematically pure, but unlike simple alternators, inverter microprocessors can sense load changes and correct phase shifts and voltage drops, assuming enough DC power is available at the input. This doesn't mean that every product _does_, just that the technology we have makes it possible. *I imagine you could even have a worse waveform from a cheaply made inverter generator than from a regular generator if a bad circuit topology is chosen for the inverter.
@@connors.1077 Some of the higher end inverter pure sign wave Gen sets produce a better sine wave than you will get from the wall. Those generators in question have power factor correction. However, those are also very expensive and often propane. I have also never seen a portable one that is not massive exceed 6ooow.
If you're doing it yourself you could build out a solar system with 3kwh of battery power, a 3kw inverter/charger, and 600w of solar panels for the roof of your van for the price of this power station. I'm honestly surprised tool companies can keep getting away with putting out these offerings when their market should be able to make their own better diy solutions.

The big mistake with this power supply was flexibility. You're locked into their features. Had it been more flexible with its features and with solar panels. That would be a deal maker for many people. Right now it feels like Milwakee is telling you what they want vs. what we want.

You do know this isn’t the first one like this don’t you? DeWalt and Ego have had power inverters out for a while now at way less cost than this monstrosity. Ego is also about to release a smoker charging adaptor too.
Milwaukee has a new version which does NOT shut off after 1hr at less than 80 watt draw. They supposedly have a program where you send in the old. They make the change in the software and send it back to you no charge.
I've been following these "power supplies" and right now I'd lean towards the ego version...still not really a replacement for a generator...maybe good power source for camping...but new trucks are coming with built in battery power supplies and inverters...
The inverters in trucks are at best like 400 watts you can charge batteries but that's about it for a job really and it has to be running I mean you could do some lights but it would have to run and it would work for camping but for that there are so many better options but at a job it is a perfect replacement for a generator because most tools that you would use need that big power but only for a few seconds at a time maybe a minute vs a generator running the whole time just wasting fuel so unless it's like a house where you are trying to power your fridge and lights may a tv or something to keep you entertained it's not going to last long and a generator would be a good choice I do think it's over priced i could build something better with like 4 times the battery for cheaper but it's a ready to go solution
@@markbuckeye I saw 7.2kw and was like that must be a mis print because the biggest alternators from the factory are less than 2Kw but it says hybrid so I guess it will have the battery but that's a real rare thing I imagine but currently they are like 150w, 300w, 400w as far as I know I assume they are modified some wave but I have not found any info on them when I looked and have not checked one
@@james10739 There is a video out there of a guy testing his new F 150 to run most everything in his buddies rv,it all worked flawlessly...theye were however in a cold environment so no a/c, but the whole rv was running micro and all and not gettin no where near the max of the supply..

Myself as a fabricator and mechanic this would be useful at salvage yards if you really need power and battery tools won’t cut it. Although myself I have been good even cutting cars in half for quarters with Milwaukee battery’s.
Does it have a filter in front of the cooling vents, or does it cake up the electronics on a building site? And why not build your own using a handtruck, a few car batteries, and off the shelf inverter & chargers? You can add a radio, lights and battery chargers for your cordless tools. And charge it with 12V when driving from job to job..
Solar Power option would be great, only problem is that solar power does not charge large batteries very quickly (from my understanding). But who knows what some R & D can accomplish!
Can’t afford it, just bought a dual fuel generator and I’m pretty happy with that. Thinking about getting a battery system to retain a charge and have a closer to pure sine wave for the smaller stuff. Thanks for the review Vince!
What I'd like to know is whether or not it's suitable for a mobile car detailing business. It would be required to power a vacuum cleaner and a pressure washer, average shift 10hrs.
It will last long enough for a week of camping to keep my batteries charged in my radio, fan, and light as well as make a couple cups of coffee a day and some toast for breakfast I'm pretty much sold
I would consider it but 80 watts is a deal breaker I would use it to run my cpap machine when power is out last time my generator ran for 11 day straight generator did it but die after that but kept me alive .thanks for what you do keep up the Great Work
I'm considering this as I'm already into the MX fuel line. I have 11 batteries between my core drill, 14" concrete saw, and the breaker. I would have plenty of batteries to do anything I wanted all day.

It is reported that Milwaukee changed the design and newer production eliminated the timeout feature because of complaints from customers. Add the solar charge option. Going to buy one for use where I can’t use gas engine

The jackery is a better option at half the price. Plus you can attach solar panels to charge. I think if Milwaukee redesigns this and add solar panels or a place to plug in solar panels and make it useable while charging it would be a solid product.
Ya 2200 is a pretty penny for something like this. The only thing really different between this and a standard inverter generator is the battery vs gasoline power
With the microwave, the system is probably putting out very little power at rest and then takes a few seconds to ramp up to high output when demanded. Maybe try the microwave again while also drawing some power from the secind socket as well? Just to see if that's what the problem is.
Curious how many watts and amps that table saw says it pulls. I have the newer 10” dewalt tablesaw, amazing tablesaw btw, and a 2300 watt generator won’t run it without tripping but a 2800 watt one will.

I'm I'll a DYIer I'll wait for Gen 2 if at all, i like this in concept but they need to include pass-through charging, charge batteries all at once, solar option and maybe a cigarette charger option. Other features would to make every side of this unit into a super multi voltage charger ontop of outlets

They can add one through the power Inlet. I've already figured out how to make a charger for using solar. I did buy this unit and am not in love with it but it is cool.

20 amp interlock kit for this +40 amp interlock kit and 2-4kw generator and you have an overnight battery and daytime power generation for extended outages. Reduces theft and overnight noise. Will be plenty to run non electric heat, a tv and LED lighting. Tho is looks like the Ego it going to be better priced for this usage.
Why not buy the Ego? For $1000, you get two 7.5Ah batteries (can run up to 4 at a time in various sizes). 3000 watts peak, 2000 watt continuous. Or $1300 for four 5 ah batteries.
Okay but like... I honestly feel like I should thank you for spending that kind of money to make a vid for us😂 now on that note considering a quiet Honda generator costs half that I will never be buying one of those but as always great vid!
about solar panel. the charger for these batteries requires around 400-470W , 1 squared meter solar panels (used for homes) produces around 150-200W on a sunny day now I will let you calculate how much of solar panel you will need to have to charge this thing at a reasonable rate.
Liked the Video Vince, but gotta say. Was a bit disappointed by this new Milwaukee “tool”. Kinda a bummer, imo, and hoping a gen 2 will “fix” the power saving feature”. For the performance, new features coming, and what “able to run”....along w/ cost of batteries, my pick would be the EGO. The EGO Power+ Station (whatever ya call it, lol, along w/ interface display) is what I’d spend my money on. Especially if load the Ego up w/ the new batteries and fill all the slots. Also don’t gotta do the timer hack😉 I was hoping this would be a viable solution for when hurricanes hit, or other “emergencies” that leave us with no power (& sometimes....for weeks), but....just don’t think this is the tool for me. Hope to see an update in 3-6 months and see what still think after been using. Cheers✌🏻
A override button would be good for the 80w timed shut down. One thing to keep in mind for the solar idea is it would do a bad job at recharging it at a usable speed without lots of panels
Also the purpose of auto shut down would be the fact that the invertor idling (waiting for a power draw) will drain the battery e.g. you make a few cuts with a saw head off to the hardware store and come back to dead batteries in the unit
I don’t think so, there are so many solar inverter power sources in which new models/mfrs roll out every month that preppers won’t consider this. Those solar inverters have more options other than solar, like the ability to daisy chain Li ion or lead acid batteries to create a power bank providing three ways to keep the inverter charged up.
It is fundamentally incompatible with solar. What it would need is to be able to charge via solar and be used as an inverter at the same time. If it could do that, it could be used at a small constuction site, like a house, to power a small amount of appliances or chargers.
90% of my work can de done with cordless tools so if I picked that thing up it would be mostly for recharging batteries, running compressors and warming up lunch.
What’s the other advantages aside for the “One Key” feature for this MX fuel Carry On Powerstation versus the M18 Carry On Powerstation. Both are rated 1800/3600w and max capacity of 864wh Is it really worth the extra cost investment for the MX Fuel version. The platform M18 is way for flexible with more tool availability…

ok ok I know i’m late to the party. $2200 it’s doable, but at that Price I can get a Honda generator or the HarborFreight special (with two Golf Court batteries and a inverter, it’s heavy) it works.
For $2200, you can get a portable power station that does accept solar. And they store a HELL of a lot more power than 2 6AH batteries. It would be crazy to but this when there are so many better options on the market.
It would be better from an efficiency standpoint to have the multivolt charger built in to the thing. Changing the battery voltage to 120v ac just to have the multivolt charger step it backdown to 18 or 12v dc is less efficient than simply stepping the big pack battery voltage down to 18 or 12.
I’ll keep my Honda 2200, this is a neat idea, severely overpriced. I like the options you mentioned for solar. I wouldn’t pay more than the Honda ($1000) for this.

I believe this one is best suited for contractors, I still want to see someone put 4 10amp batteries on the Ego nexus and see what it can do!

Don't use it to run a fridge in an emergency because if it doesn't run for an hour boom shuts down...

Do both batteries have to be in for it to be used? Could you charge a battery while the other one operates it
It will last long enough for a week of camping to keep my batteries charged in my radio, fan, and light as well as make a couple cups of coffee a day and some toast for breakfast I'm pretty much sold

I would consider it but 80 watts is a deal breaker I would use it to run my cpap machine when power is out last time my generator ran for 11 day straight generator did it but die after that but kept me alive .thanks for what you do keep up the Great Work

I'm considering this as I'm already into the MX fuel line. I have 11 batteries between my core drill, 14" concrete saw, and the breaker. I would have plenty of batteries to do anything I wanted all day.

@@xxxmikeyjock It's a fantastic tool. Way more bulky compared to an air or corded breaker but I'm a fan of the battery and not having a hose get in my way. It is also considerably quieter IMHO too.
It is reported that Milwaukee changed the design and newer production eliminated the timeout feature because of complaints from customers. Add the solar charge option. Going to buy one for use where I can’t use gas engine
Looks pretty cool. As much as I would love to buy it, I am hopeful and will wait for the day they release a M18 Fuel version. The Ego power station is pretty tempting though. The jackery is a better option at half the price. Plus you can attach solar panels to charge. I think if Milwaukee redesigns this and add solar panels or a place to plug in solar panels and make it useable while charging it would be a solid product.
Run though power is not what you need with this tool. If you have power on the job you wouldn't use it. I like it.

Ya 2200 is a pretty penny for something like this. The only thing really different between this and a standard inverter generator is the battery vs gasoline power

With the microwave, the system is probably putting out very little power at rest and then takes a few seconds to ramp up to high output when demanded. Maybe try the microwave again while also drawing some power from the secind socket as well? Just to see if that's what the problem is.

I have the newer 10” dewalt tablesaw, amazing tablesaw btw, and a 2300 watt generator won’t run it without tripping but a 2800 watt one will.

Hmm. I'll stick with a gas- powered generator. Knowing the MX is NOT a generator, but rather, a power supply, I'd think that a standard inverter and a couple marine batteries would be more affordable. 🤔 Thanks Vince and God bless! 😁👍✌

They can add one through the power Inlet. I've already figured out how to make a charger for using solar. I did buy this unit and am not in love with it but it is cool.

Will it run a 60+gallon air compressor
20 amp interlock kit for this +40 amp interlock kit and 2-4kw generator and you have an overnight battery and daytime power generation for extended outages. Reduces theft and overnight noise. Will be plenty to run non electric heat, a tv and LED lighting. Tho is looks like the Ego it going to be better priced for this usage.

Why not buy the Ego? For $1000, you get two 7.5Ah batteries (can run up to 4 at a time in various sizes). 3000 watts peak, 2000 watt continuous. Or $1300 for four 5 ah batteries.
Okay but like... I honestly feel like I should thank you for spending that kind of money to make a vid for us😂 now on that note considering a quiet Honda generator costs half that I will never be buying one of those but as always great vid!

Ego uses a replacement power brick with a 180w limit and also doesn't do pass through power...
about solar panel. the charger for these batteries requires around 400-470W , 1 squared meter solar panels (used for homes) produces around 150-200W on a sunny day now I will let you calculate how much of solar panel you will need to have to charge this thing at a reasonable rate.

Liked the Video Vince, but gotta say. Was a bit disappointed by this new Milwaukee “tool”. Kinda a bummer, imo, and hoping a gen 2 will “fix” the power saving feature”.
For the performance, new features coming, and what “able to run”....along w/ cost of batteries, my pick would be the EGO.
The EGO Power+ Station (whatever ya call it, lol, along w/ interface display) is what I’d spend my money on. Especially if load the Ego up w/ the new batteries and fill all the slots. Also don’t gotta do the timer hack😉
I was hoping this would be a viable solution for when hurricanes hit, or other “emergencies” that leave us with no power (& sometimes....for weeks), but....just don’t think this is the tool for me.
Hope to see an update in 3-6 months and see what still think after been using.

A override button would be good for the 80w timed shut down. One thing to keep in mind for the solar idea is it would do a bad job at recharging it at a usable speed without lots of panels
Also the purpose of auto shut down would be the fact that the invertor idling (waiting for a power draw) will drain the battery e.g. you make a few cuts with a saw head off to the hardware store and come back to dead batteries in the unit

I don’t think so, there are so many solar inverter power sources in which new models/mfrs roll out every month that preppers won’t consider this. Those solar inverters have more options other than solar, like the ability to daisy chain Li ion or lead acid batteries to create a power bank providing three ways to keep the inverter charged up.
It is fundamentally incompatible with solar. What it would need is to be able to charge via solar and be used as an inverter at the same time. If it could do that, it could be used at a small constuction site, like a house, to power a small amount of appliances or chargers.

Sequential charging makes more sense because you might have three batts and need to swap a discharged one in so you can keep running a jackhammer...

90% of my work can de done with cordless tools so if I picked that thing up it would be mostly for recharging batteries, running compressors and warming up lunch.
What’s the other advantages aside for the “One Key” feature for this MX fuel Carry On Powerstation versus the M18 Carry On Powerstation. Both are rated 1800/3600w and max capacity of 864wh Is it really worth the extra cost investment for the MX Fuel version. The platform M18 is way for flexible with more tool availability…

ok ok I know i’m late to the party. $2200 it’s doable, but at that Price I can get a Honda generator or the HarborFreight special (with two Golf Court batteries and a inverter, it’s heavy) it works.
For $2200, you can get a portable power station that does accept solar. And they store a HELL of a lot more power than 2 6AH batteries.
It would be crazy to but this when there are so many better options on the market.
Can't see much point in returning to corded tools thru' an inverter pack. Sure, there are instances but Milwaukee have most areas covered with M18.

It would be better from an efficiency standpoint to have the multivolt charger built in to the thing. Changing the battery voltage to 120v ac just to have the multivolt charger step it backdown to 18 or 12v dc is less efficient than simply stepping the big pack battery voltage down to 18 or 12.

I’ll keep my Honda 2200, this is a neat idea, severely overpriced. I like the options you mentioned for solar. I wouldn’t pay more than the Honda ($1000) for this.
I rented a version of this not 'milwaukee' for building a shed in a park. 4000w, ran the chop saw for the day. silent. it was awesome. no screaming genie annoying the park users
Sir u should be using the safety device that comes with the table saw. Milwaukee is big on safety .
