    I passed an uni course on irony/satire/parody literature and writing with a satirical essay on writing essays. It also included a "review" on the essay I wrote myself, trashing my own text as if I didn't write it. The grade I got was average as my professor picked up on it being BS (obviously), but the fact it still passed makes me happy to this day. Sometimes in life you gotta go for the stupid option and own it 100%. Makes things much more interesting. 😆

    When people talk about Pluto’s moon Charon being a reason for Pluto not being a planet they mean that Pluto and Charon actually orbit each other also with clear orbit thing, it matters for Pluto because the other things in the Kuiper Belt are very similar in size to Pluto while the objects near the planets are way smaller.

    • @mateotovar4548

      This thing with Charon being very similar to Pluto in size and both rotating each other means that there can't exist binary planets (they wouldn't be considered planets because orbit is not clear and they're like a moon of each other) just like there are binary stars?
      Man does this means that the twin planets from Outer Wilds are not planets?

    • @89_jojc57
      @89_jojc57 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mateotovar4548 I’m not saying binary planets can’t be planets, I’m just saying why people bring it up. I think the reason why people use it as another thing against Pluto is because when we found Charon we thought it was just a moon but then when we discovered that it was in a binary system with Pluto, we still just called it a moon and not another dwarf planet so we just saw it as Pluto and it’s moon orbit each other.

  • @bageldogm

    A really interesting argument i saw somewhere was that if some planets were placed were pluto is, they also wouldnt have cleared their orbit, so pluto is only considered a dwarf planet because of its position, not because of pluto itself. Or maybe we should just demote all the other ones that wouldnt have cleared their path there idk.

    • @AuckedGD
      @AuckedGD ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not counting asteroids it's about its largest moon Charon. If Earth was placed there it would still be a planet because it wouldn't have anything 50% bigger than it interfere with its orbit.

      The reason Pluto is a dwarf planet is because of its moon Charon. Charon is half the size of Pluto and due to the rules of something being classified as a planet, a celestial body can only be a planet if 1. It is in a stable orbit around the sun. In which it is. 2. It has to resemble a sphere in which it does. 3. It has to clear other objects in its orbit that is half the size of it or bigger Pluto fails this because of Charon. That is why Pluto isn't a planet and never will be again

    In highschool one of my english finals involved writing and performing a song (I don't understand either). Specifcally, it was supposed to be a love song. Because were children, the teacher specified that it didn't have to be romantic love, but about something in particular you have a strong platonic love or admiration for. Your parents, your teacher, your dog, your friends. I, in my usual sarcastic self, chipped in "Or your lunch".
    This was a no-nonsense teacher, so when the class laughed, she just looked at me deadpan and said, "if you're looking to not take this seriously get a failing grade, sure". I took that as a challenge.
    So in Junior year, I wrote "You're my ham sandwich". And it. was. terrible. But it passed, and more importantly, it had the entire class dying of laughter, stick in the mud teacher included.

    For the “clearing it’s orbit”, there is actually a pretty solid way to define it. By comparing the weight of the proposed planet to all the things in its orbit, there is a very clear divide between the eight planets (the planet with the lowest ratio being Mars) and all of the dwarf planets. And even though I love Pluto for how interesting it’s surface is, I don’t think I can personally define it as a planet

    4:24 clear orbit means it doesn’t intercept/interfere with other plants also it applies to orbit eccentricity meaning how circular it is Pluto fails both of these.
    1. Pluto sometimes in its orbit is actually a head of Neptune because it intersects Neptunes orbit
    2. All planets in our solar system dont interfere with other planets

    Haha great video
    As far as the “cleared orbit” thing, that isn’t the full issue. The IAU could always redefine “planet” to include Pluto. The real issue is that if we included Pluto as a planet, there’s something like 13 other Pluto-like objects we’d also have to include. And nobody wants to make elementary school students memorize over 20 planets

    Fun fact, our sun is officially classified as a yellow dwarf star. So if someone agrees that the sun is indeed a star (duh…) then they are being hypocritical if they don’t agree that Pluto is also a planet.
    Being a dwarf variant of a thing by definition makes you a variant of THAT THING. Dwarf elephants are still elephants, etc. If you want to get real spicy, ask them if people with dwarfism are still people.

    You missed one major point that is also a reason for Pluto not being a planet. After Pluto astronomers discovered more planets that were around the same size as pluto. A lot of them were discovered. It came to a point where they decided this maybe too much planets for the standard solar system models and Because they were much smaller than the other planets. So that is why they started the votes. Because all of those planets are similar sizes all of them were going to be either planets or dwarf planets. In the end all were now classified as dwarf planets.

      Did you not previously research it? The point about clearing its orbit doesn’t make sense. Clearing the orbit means there are no things of similar size in its path. And Pluto is so small there are asteroids larger than it. Plus Plutos moon doesn’t even rotate around pluto because they are so small.
