Your chain maxes out at 20, at which point your odds are maxed at 1 in 96, so slightly more common than a 1% pokemon appearing in an area. Your chain doesn't break when you find a shiny. Just a Pokémon that is 1/96 won't pop up again and again. Not hating, but this is useful information that has popped up in recent times

If you put a Pokemon with the ability suction cups at the front of your party, it will result make sure you always reel in a Pokemon which is why he had an Inkay feinted (it wouldn't be able to run away so many times if it weren't feinted)

I recommend you get into a battle with the Pokémon then close for sleep mode . You won't break the chain. Leave ur Ds on charge. Have fun and good luck

This method works! I decided to try before going to work to kill some time and I sat there for like 13-20mins just fishing with the inkay all the stuff you need. Then out of no where a shiny skrelp pops out! I used false swipe and captured it with an ultra ball. This would make it my 4th shiny in my lifetime. =)

I've had so much success with chaining. I've caught 15 shiny remoraid (4 in one sitting). my longest chain was 236 without a shiny. I've caught almost every fishable pokemon in Y except chinchou, basculin and dratini but since dratini's odds are like 5% I don't think i'll try for it anytime soon
I actually accidentally found a shiny without meaning to while doing something similar to this method. I was fishing for Horsea while I had a Grimer in the front of my party and after a little while, I found and caught a shiny Relicanth!
I was fish chaining in that exact spot shown at 0:28 and I reached a chain of 405 according to that guy in the fish house... no shiny at all. I had already found a Shiny Magikarp at a chain of about 10 previously...
