My little sister was once a littler sister, and she decided to start playing Pokemon Ruby. BEFORE she got the chance and ability to catch Pokemon, she encountered a shiny Wurmple. She knew about shinies and how crazy rare they were, and it was completely impossible for her to catch! I'll always remember what she said. "I guess this is how my life is gonna go, huh?"

+1UP Arcade Dude same story from when i was a child, Ruby and Sapp JUST came out for Gameboy Advance, i am at the first town and i see a Shiny Wurmple... Purple Wurmple.... i thought my game was broken so i either turned it off or beat it, i forgot which one, but then i asked my cousin what was up with that odd colored pokemon and he freaked out saying it was a Shiny and what not... i went back to the same spot i found it in thinking i would see it again xD.
I remember I found my old game boy in my closet while cleaning and got distracted and deleted my save and started again (Pokémon fire red). I played up to get poke balls and the first Pokémon that showed up right when I was about to start making a team I found a shiny pidgey!
I’ve encountered 2- both in black 2 A shiny unfezent which I caught and never actually used A shiny audino. This one was when Clement was with me and we could double battle… he knocked out the Audino before I could catch it
I have a shiny spinda, one of the most unique shinies you can get since it's VERY unlikely that anyone will have that same exact shiny spinda since their body spots are randomly generated
I only ever use Masuda method. You always have direct control over exactly what Pokemon you're hunting for, the range of WHAT you can hunt for is limitless bar legendaries, and unlike most wild shinies, chances are you'll get a shiny with near or even perfect stats and movesets. The only downsides are it is slower than some other methods, and when you do get a shiny there's no sparkle fanfare upon encountering it.
i am personally also a big fan of the masuda method since you have a chance to get a shiny for every single mon that is not a legendary or does not have a gender. plus despite probably taking the longest time between each encounter, you get that sweet 1/512 chance
A few years ago when Sun and Moon were new, I got a random shiny Zubat in Diglett's cave or whatever it was. I said, "oh that's cool," Quickballed it, and then left it in my box for the rest of my playthrough.
@@Gshadewolf14 well then, I wish you good luck on finding that shiny flabebe and all of your future hunts! If you ever start to lose hope or patience, remember to take a break, enjoy yourself, and stay motivated! Wish I had odds like gen 6 and above, been playing through and shiny hunting Soul Silver for the first time, got a shiny Chikorita (named him Maple) in under 100 SRs, but now that I've started shiny hunting in the wild (going for a shiny Sentret or Hoothoot), boy was all my luck drained on the starter. But that's shiny hunting for ya!
I have no idea if you look at these comments anymore but I remember when you first released this video and I used it to catch my first few shinies. Rewatching it has given me a massive wave of nostalgia and brought back that part of my childhood. Thank you for making this video and I’m glad to have found it again
+exlatios I watched all the pokemon videos without owning any gen 4 and beyond games... then I had a seasonal job and I finally bought me a 3DS and Alpha Sapphire. and now I can use this "knowledge"
+exlatios I did too, but it was because i was preparing for getting a shiny when i get my game. I want a shiny- Serperior(2nd fav) Arcanine(My fav pokemon) Cubone(Also my fav, tied)
I did a race with my friend to see who could get a shiny on Wonder trade first and I got a Lv 100 shiny Beedrill and won the contest. We did a round two and he got a shiny furfrou
+xLinkTijger It was the first shiny I caught in Emerald, and let me say that it felt both amazing and disappointing to get the one shiny everyone's already got :P
For those who are considering Poke Rader as your method of shiny hunting I have a few more tips. First of all, it is NOT easy at ALL. Poke Rader chaining requires concentration, a lot of time, and TREMENDOUS PATIENCE. I cannot stress enough how much patience you will need. On average, it takes an hour and a half to reach the chain of 40. And since you will probably fail more than you succeed, be prepared to have hours worth of time and effort go to waste. Sometimes it will only take a day or two to successfully chain a shiny, other times it can take WEEKS. One time it only took me one try. It depends on whether the game wants you to get it or not. Or just plain luck. And when they say you will need LOTS of repels, they means HUNDREDS. Trust me, you do NOT want to run out. In a chain, there is no such thing as too many repels. Don't have any eggs in your party, when they hatch they WILL break your chain. Also, if you need a break from chaining, it's okay to close your 3DS, it won't break the chain. Just try closing it in the middle of a battle. That way when you resume your chain you won't have to remember which grass patch was rustling last. To keep track of your chain, use a pokemon that has lot of PP for it's moves. Like 20, 30, or 35. This way, you can remember which chain number you're on by deducting the number of moves you have used. Because of this, a strong pokemon, that can quickly defeat opponents in one hit, is preferred. Some grassy areas are better for chaining then others. It has nothing to do with chance, but bigger grass areas are much easier to work with. The larger, the better. When choosing grass patches, as it was said in the video, always pick the strongest ones. Avoid grass patches on the edges. Because when the chain starts again after the battle, there is a chance no patches will shake, and the chain may break. Always pick patches that are strong and not close to you. The farther a patch is from where you are, the better your chances of keeping the chain are. NEVER pick a patch that is right next to you, even if it is strong. There is a chance it will break your chain. Also avoid patches that are rustling right next to eachother, they aren't bad choices, but they aren't the best. As said in the video if there are no desirable patches, just run around and try again, it won't break your chain. Just avoid the rustling patches as you run. If you thought you saw a good patch, but you weren't quite sure, just try again. It isn't worth breaking your chain. Don't use your skates or your bicycle. Bringing them out will break your chain at once. You've been warned. When you finally do see a sparkling patch, it doesn't matter where it is, go straight toward it. You don't have be picky anymore. If you are lucky, you'll see a sparkling patch before you even get to 40. But it's unlikely, so don't count on it. It's only ever happened to me twice. Keep your ears open, they are just as important as your eyes. If your working in a big patch of grass, you might hear the sparkling patch before you see it. Overall, stay FOCUSED. One false move could destroy your chain. Never let your guard down for a second until you've caught your shiny pokemon. No matter how hard this may seem, trust me, when you see the sparkle of that shiny pokemon you want, all your pain and effort will be worth it. Don't be intimidated by this method. It may be challenging, but I have successfully chained and caught over 20 shiny pokemon this way. Good luck, and keep trying! If you have anymore questions, let me know.
+Lillian Lyles i remember i was following tamashii's guide which was inaccurate imo and it took me around 5 days just to get a shiny never doing that again, its frustrating and requires a tremendous amount of concentration
Kat Luu It isn't as easy as they say it is, right? It does take a lot of time and effort. I learned my shiny chaining methods through trial and error. You can trust my advice. I've caught many shiny pokemon through chaining. I know what works, and what doesn't. Sometimes practice makes perfect. Chaining sometimes take time to master. I'm a lot better at it then when I started. It's takes skill and luck.
+Lillian Lyles You wouldn't happen to know if breeding with a shiny pokemon will increase chances of hatching a shiny, would you? I'm planning on helping my sisters get some shinies, and I'm hoping this will give us a bit easier time of it...
Just a helpful tip for completing the national dex: Divide and conquer! Start with your games local Pokedex, besides a few exclusives which can be traded for easily (besides legionaries). The best way of doing this is going to every route in the game, and capturing every possible Pokemon. Once this is done, the oval charm is yours. Now start completing the Pokedex one region at a time, you will find that the Pokedex will already have a nice start thanks to finishing your local dex first. I started with Kanto, and went forward from there. If you have ether X/Y AND Omega/Alpha than things are much easier since you can get pretty much every non event Pokemon without the need to transfer them from previous generations. Now the difficult part, evolving all the Pokemon you own to their final form, or breeding them to get their baby forms. Again I recommend going in linear order to make this simple as possible. If you own Alpha/Omega than this part is far easier, because you can download Smogon secret bases and those are filled with level 100 Blissies that knock themselves out in a triple battle. Combine this with a lucky egg, and you should be able to evolve a Pokemon once per battle. As for breeding for baby forms, remember that since you got the oval charm earlier, this will speed things up. Use flame body as always (my favorite is Talonflame thanks to having both flame body and fly) Just take it slowly and do other things in the background, or hyper focus it in periodic sessions. One thing you will find is that the more region dexes you complete, the faster the next regions dex will be (seeing as things overlap) On a fairly casual level, I managed to do this in two weeks. Best of luck folks!
+TheFingerTrapMaster That is very similar to how I went for completing the Gen 6 National Dex, only I added in breeding multiples of the same evolution line (Number varies on how many stages, and if they they do or do not branch like eevee, or Kirlia and Snowrunt). And put them in my Pokemon Bank for future Gens. I actually got 3 shinies hatching the eggs, a Chimchar, Chikorita, and Ralts (and that was before the shiny charm).
My first shiny was a shiny Boldore in Pokemon Black. I think my best shiny Pokemon encounter would be a shiny Graveler on Iron Island (Diamond) (I was hoping like hell that Riley wouldn't defeat it)
I forget what game it was, but my first completely random shiny was a lickitung that I found and I really don't like lickitung. I still loved the shiny though
I unintentionally got a Masuda-method Metagross while breeding for a competitive Metagross, so it has four perfect IVs and is basically competitive. Certainly one of my favorite shinies. Interestingly, one of its parents is also a shiny, as my breeding ditto is shiny since I got it from sos chaining
Since gen 7 has such a paltry post game, I've made shiny hunting pretty much the only thing I do in US. My shiny dragon team is well underway and I friggin love it.
The expression on my 11 Yeats old face when I implemented the "chain fishing" method without knowing it, finding a completely random golden Magicarp, was ✨magic✨. I remember that I start to screaming SO loud and then, starting to jump like an idiot all over my room. I'm so Happy that i don't forget that moment AHAHAH
Several months ago, I Radar Chained for a Shiny Cherrim on one of the Mirage islands. It took me over 999 encounters to search for it all day to night time; I didn't mess up and I catched it!
I have a tip if you want legendaries from other games (not event): 1) Get a lot of dittos (I mean A LOT!!!!) 2) Put them on the GTS for a non event legendary (don't put specific gender or level) 3) Wait for a while. sometimes it can take 2 hours or 2 days but just be patient This has helped me get every box legendary up to gen 6 and all lake spirits without a lot of effort so hope you find this helpful (P.S. I did this in X/Y because it's easy to get ditto. if you have a friend safari with ditto in it, it can be even better)
The shiny slowpokes only difference is that its slightly lighter and a bit more purple. I ran into the shiny slowpoke and I wasn't paying attention so I killed it. Hate my life 😔👊
My first shiny I caught was a shiny Spinda in a horde encounter. Without using any special methods. No, seriously, all I was doing was looking for a Scyther.
Similar story. I was EV training a Ralts in Y and looking for a horde of something or other that I can't recall, but got a horde of Whismur instead. One of them was shiny. Then while walking around in Omega Ruby, not even searching for Pokémon, I got a random encounter. Shiny Swablu. I have played at least one version of each generation of Pokémon and these were my first two shinies ever. I also got a shiny Roselia and something else I can't remember through Wonder Trading, but I guess those weren't legit.
My first random encounter shiny was a female shiny Sneasel in pokemon sun. I wasn't shiny hunting. I wasn't _thinking_ about shiny pokemon. I wasn't even looking for Sneasel! I wanted to find a vulpix to transfer to my shield game. Then boom Pink Sneasel. my first ever shiny was a lucky eighth egg in a masuda run breeding goomy. I love him and his name is Noomy.
This was a pretty informative video to me! Fun story, I actually encountered a legit Shiny Pidgey while trying to complete my X National Dex. That was quite the surprise!
took me about 4 hours in total to get a shiny eevee (#Sylveon) But it took about 2 days since i accidentally ran the first day after accidentally running from a 70 chained eevee.. then i spent about another hour chaining.. broke my chain.. tried again... 8 chain - "Bling!* Me - *ARE U FRIGGEN KIDDING MEH!!!*
+MonacleEmpire When Renae played through AS, she named her Pokémon after subscribers on Twitch.tv. This Ninetales is named after "BlisseyMorning", which wouldn't fit, so there you go.
+victoryiamjay I feel like a noob looking back on my first pokemon game. I saw a shiny cubchoo, thought it was a glitch, and KOed it immediately. I fell so stupid...
HAHA pulled this video up again just to play in the background in 2021 cause I wanted to breed a shiny Fennekin, and hatched it while they were explaining Radar Chaining, after 226 eggs! It's my first time actually doing Masuda method hatching (with the Shiny Charm, no less), and I learned all that information for the first time when I watched this video when it first came out years ago. Thanks, JWittz!
When I found out about chain fishing 3 or 4 years ago, I got a shiny relicanth within 5 minutes. I was all like “whoa this is lit” and proceeded to waste several additional hours getting absolutely nothing. It was a fun day.
Honestly, getting a shiny is super easy in ORAS, I already have 7 without shiny charm. The longest one was 1004 DexNav encounters with Pikachu. The odds are super kind in the games, and there’s tons more methods than newer games
remembers playing pokemon emerald, found first shiny ever in my life, a shiny female rydon, it was lever 27, in the safari zone..... it ran away... i will never forget those odds of 8 thousand.... and how that shiny ran away... then found a random shiny zubat in pokemon moon, and caught it... wow it did get easyer...
My first Masuda Method shiny was a Starly. With the help of a friend, I was able to get a perfect IV Ditto & a perfect IV Staraptor with Jolly. I named the Shiny Starly Avius, and I hatched him before I even filled my first box. Now I'm trying to hatch a Shiny Turtwig. I'm currently on my 13th box and still counting...
+Subliminal Circles I accidentally got a shiny Munchlax while trying to breed them for Wonder Trading. I named it Greg after the father in Steven Universe. I bred around 300 eggs to get it, I know because it was my first hatched shiny in the game and I had hatched around 300 eggs prior to it.
+Subliminal Circles Heya, i just wanted to ask you, if you could borrow me this Starly/Staraptor? Cause Staraptor is by far my top fave Bird Pokemon and i really wanna do a Masuda Egg with it And dont worry, i will give it back to you immediatly after i got my own Shiny Starly ^^
Dirakia (Sorry for replying so late) Sorry, I already traded it back to my friend. Though since I used a destiny knot, I'm sure I have a perfect IV Starly if I just took the time to judge them. Even then, they're all guaranteed 5 IV. If you're still interested, you can keep one since I have dozens.
10:59 Just for anyone seeing this video later on, while this is entirely true in Generation 6, the video this is about, it's important to note that breeding changes with each generation and later generations can actually pass down balls at a 50% rate if the Pokemon match. So if you heard about the Masuda Method from this video but you decided to do it in, say, Generation 9, the rules have changed and you should look up more info to make sure you get your shiny exactly the way you want it. In fact, it's this change to Poke Ball status that makes it so easy to get say, a Hisuian Zorua in a different Poke Ball than the ancient options from Pokemon Legends Arceus. Since regional forms can breed with each other, you can put an everstone on the Hisuian Zorua and have it breed with an opposite-gender regular Zorua from Scarlet/Violet that you caught in, say, a Moon Ball, and then breed the two together. After you get the Hisuian Zorua in the Moon Ball, replace the Hisuian Zorua parent with that one and all of your Zorua eggs will hatch with a Moon Ball.
I cannot shiny hunt. I don't have the patience for it. The only tried to shiny hunt two Pokémon: Chespin and Cloyster. Weird combination, but they're my two favorite Pokémon. Anyway, I decided to go for the Cloyster first, because I just needed to chain fish for a shellder and give it a Water Stone, and JWittz is right: it's the best and the easiest method. It took me about 30 minutes to get it, and along the way, I also got two shiny Skrelps. After that, I felt confident to get a Shiny Chespin. I decided to go with the Masuda method because even though one my friends had Quilladin in their Friend Safari, I knew I'd have a higher chance of getting something I didn't want. I ended up hatching 432 eggs (I counted) in hopes of finding anything, and nothing. After that, I just gave up. I realized how much of my time would be put into finding that one elusive Shiny Chespin. I'm sure there are other people out there that probably soft reset a billion times to get one shiny, but I don't think I could ever do that.
Brandon J. I know this is one year too late, but before watching this vid, I found a shiny Chespin after 5 eggs with the masuda method, and i immediately thought of this comment... now i wish i could clone pokemon
In my ultra moon game, yveltal was in a wormhole and it is my favorite legendary EVER. Only 78 soft resets and I master balled that shiny Yveltal so fast and named him Barney Lol. Who can blame me though right?
I do not have the patience for it either (not really anyway) but i still do it because the dopamine rush i get (especially if it is relatively long since, again i do not really have the patience at all to do a really long one) is just way too big to not do it, i do realize i could have worded that better so i am sorry if that seemed confusing/just hard to understand.
I had seen this video before, a long while ago, and I had entirely forgotten about the chain fishing method. So, about 4 days ago I was training up some mons in Victory Road in X to evolve, working on finishing the Kalos dex, and I was using the O-power for experience points. I figured that fishing would be a quicker way of getting wild pokemon to appear, completely forgetting that the whole chain fishing thing exists. Was facing a lot of poliwhirl and was thinking "oh come on, give me something different," then a shiny poliwhirl appeared. This was my absolute first random shiny in a main series game
I was EXTREMELY lucky when it came to shinies in Alpha Sapphire, I started the game with a shiny Wurmple, found a shiny Baltoy while looking for Secret Bases, and a shiny Relicanth while I was diving. Although, I did trade the Baltoy after I evolved it into Claydol.
I caught a Shiny Chansey by sheer, glorious coincidence. The most amazing part about it was that I caught it on Easter. And it's an egg-themed Pokémon. What do you guys think I should nickname my Blissey? (Yeah, it's a Blissey now.)
I got my first and only shiny Pokémon (Pikachu) by accidentally DexNav "chaining". Let me explain. I was in the safari zone in ORAS, and decided to catch a buttload of Pikachus for no reason. The thing was, I was using the DexNav to search for Pikachus, and I was so in the moment that I forgot that DexNav "chaining" was even a thing. Only roughly 30 Pikachu catches later -- BOOM -- shiny! I cannot express in words how I felt when I saw the sparkle and the altered palette. ✨
Ive found a shiny feebas after only 84 encounters. There are spots where only feebas appear in ORAS. Using a headphone helped to not miss clicking the right time. And using a Pokemon with sticking hold also helps a lot.
I had shiny litwick, drilbur, hydreigon, zorua and wombat. Sold my game when I was really hard up for money and fell out of love with pokemon. Now I'm back into it, the thought of it kills me every day 😫
I found my first (and only) shiny Pokemon a few years ago, and it was a Spearow, I think. But what's funny is, I acquired Pokemon Y the day after Christmas. As I was healing at one of the Pokemon Centers, Nurse Joy started talking about Pokerus. I looked at my team, and one of my Pokemon had it. And just a few minutes afterwards, every single pokemon in my party had Pokerus, and I had already had 5 of my 6 teammates
My first was a Zigzagoon (now a Linoone) in the original Ruby on GBA when I was 10. At that time I had no clue what shinies were, I just thought it was some kind of cool glitch and caught it praying it didn't break my game. When my friend told me what it was the next day at school, I was ecstatic I had something so rare ^^
+jarren reed That's exactly what happened to me in my SoulSilver. I should've thrown a quick ball right away instead of dwindling its health down like I did, just to at least prove I tried to catch it. What a way for the game to troll players hard.
In X and Y the yellow and purple bushes right outside of the daycare can be circled to have the daycare man turn around. So you don't have to go back and forth from the cave to the town.
I messed up even worse. I found a shiny litwick by walking in dragon spiral tower in black 2. I was a bit dumb back then. So I killed it for experience. I screwed up.
I remember the first shiny I ever got. It was around the time this video was released, so I was 9 or 10. My bratty cousins were coming over and asked me to try find a shiny Pokemon for them. I knew what shinies were but I didn’t know you could hunt them. I watched this video and tried chain fishing. I just did it to keep my cousins occupied and I didn’t expect to find a shiny. After only 16 encounters, I came across a beautiful golden luvdisc. Both me and my cousins freaked out and with shaking hands clicked pokeball and threw a ultra ball at it. And that is the story of my first shiny. Since then I have caught 5 other shinies. In x a wailmer and skiddo and in moon a wingull, eevee and litten(that one took a LONG time)
my first shiny was a geodude after i beat a chancey in pokemon diamond my second one was a poochyata (sorry miss spelled) in pokemon alpha sapphire as my first pokemon caught in tall grass after i got my treeko.
Much as I'd like to play a gen 6 Pokemon game when I haven't yet, my first shiny Pokemon was actually a Weedle in Fire Red. I initially beat the game with my starter as Squirtle, and decided to make a new game choosing Charmander. Found the shiny Weedle shortly after entering Viridian Forest.
I'm STILL trying to find my shiny Treecko...lost track at over 10k SRs, but I KNOW I'm close or at 20k now-I've been hunting off and on for 2 years now, too x.x;;;
I guess the "Shiny Hunting" thing is why I get SO MANY people asking me for shiny trades. I, myself, am not into the hype of "Shiny Hunting"; and, therefore, don't really care. The ONLY shiny pokémon I'm looking for is the Red Genesect. I have NON-SHINY legendary pokémon (including Hoopa). I have a couple of shiny COMMON pokémon that others have traded me. [WARNING: The following is a rant] When I was attempting to obtain a Fancy Pattern Vivillon, almost EVERYONE who was willing to trade me one REFUSED to trade...unless I gave them a SHINY LEGENDARY in return! The only shiny legendary pokémon I had were a couple of the distribution ones. Those I was attempting to trade with said that they "already had it"; and, therefore, would NOT trade with me unit I was able to give them a DIFFERENT SHINY LEGENDARY. I was SO LUCKY to find someone (after twenty-something FAILURES) who traded me their Fancy Pattern Vivillon for a Diancie (that I had recently received when I traded a Japanese Mew -- with it's name in Katakana). [End of rant] I have a few pokémon that I'm looking for: Shiny (red) Genesect, Volcanion, original Katakana name for Pumpkaboo...any size (it needs to be holding an Everstone), original Katakana name for Phantump (it needs to be holding an Everstone), and (although, IMPOSSIBLE) MissingNo.
***** Sorry to break this to you: The shiny Suicune was, probably, the event one. Anyone playing Pokémon (was it Diamond/Pearl/Platinum or Heart Gold/Soul Silver?) at that time -- and was able to get to a Game Stop during distribution -- was almost GUARANTEED to obtain one. Your shiny Grimer was a 1 in ???% chance. However, I WOULD say it was a fair trade. That is, unless the other person used Action Replay to get their shiny Suicune.
There was a time in Pokemon ruby that I came across both a shiny Zigzagoon and a shiny Zubat in probably 30 min. or 1h. apart but then I desided to restart and get different starter and now that memory is going to haunt me forever. This was when I was 6 or so, so I didn't know about shinies at that time.
My little sister was once a little sister? Did u have a auto correct
What a bummer.
Emerald King No he meant that when his sister was younger.
Copypasta is yummy
@@emeraldking1793 He said LITTLER, meaning his sister was younger.
There were no spelling mistakes, you just read it incorrectly

In X and Y, I found a shiny Woobat, but didn't know what Shiny's were, so I didn't catch it.
I still cry
+1UP Arcade Dude same story from when i was a child, Ruby and Sapp JUST came out for Gameboy Advance, i am at the first town and i see a Shiny Wurmple... Purple Wurmple.... i thought my game was broken so i either turned it off or beat it, i forgot which one, but then i asked my cousin what was up with that odd colored pokemon and he freaked out saying it was a Shiny and what not... i went back to the same spot i found it in thinking i would see it again xD.
+Daniel Rivera That must suck
1UP Arcade it sucked all right. Lol
i found a shiny venomoth... i knew what it was...
but it was iin the SAFARI ZONE and ran
You are such an idiotic noob
I've been playing Pokemon for nine years. Never have I once found a Shiny in the wild unless I was actively looking for one.
I remember I found my old game boy in my closet while cleaning and got distracted and deleted my save and started again (Pokémon fire red). I played up to get poke balls and the first Pokémon that showed up right when I was about to start making a team I found a shiny pidgey!
ı found once in firered a shiny tentacool
@@erge24 i read that as “i once found a firered in shiny tentacool”
I’ve encountered 2- both in black 2
A shiny unfezent which I caught and never actually used
A shiny audino. This one was when Clement was with me and we could double battle… he knocked out the Audino before I could catch it
I feel like this is what they teach in school in the Pokemon world
If this is what they teach, I'd actually like going to school! :D
The JWittz is the principal.
+The Surfing Pikachu Why, same here...still can't seem to get that Shiny Kabuto egg...
+Michael Aiyedun lol.
i think id get an F when school is like this
I have a shiny spinda, one of the most unique shinies you can get since it's VERY unlikely that anyone will have that same exact shiny spinda since their body spots are randomly generated
TRUEEEE
mine has two little dots over it's right eye.... I called him Party Animal
I have a shiny vespiqueen
My first Shiny was a Spring Deerling that I got in Black 1. I'm kind of ticked off that my first shiny was a pokemon that naturally changes color....
That's so cool my first shiny was a geodude
The Masuda Method is how I got most of my Shiny Pokémon.
Are you still playing if so do you have a shiny Magikarp
My personal favorite is chain fishing. I got my first shiny
chain fishing. I do not mind the limited pokemon, and I've never traded before soooooooo.
Oh yeah, the masud-*zzzzzz*
A few years ago when Sun and Moon were new, I got a random shiny Zubat in Diglett's cave or whatever it was. I said, "oh that's cool," Quickballed it, and then left it in my box for the rest of my playthrough.
Ayyyy me too except I used it for all the story and evolved it to his final evolution
oh nice
thanks for having me in this epic video!!! Shiny H-Y-P-E!
+thejustinflynn Hi justin :D
Thanks for being in it man
hai justin!
+thejustinflynn Shut up stop braging about your shinys i never got one before

Omg the pain😥💀

I've been doing it for less than two hours. Just saved myself 5 years. Thanks man.
Bro... I am so sorry D:
Sorry dude.
I did the radar chaining today, and found shiny flabebe on the first encounter!
Shiny HYPE!
That is awesome!
I’m actually watching this video because I want to find a shiny flabebe haha

I remember my first encounter with a shiny Pokémon, it was a Graveler that knew self destruct. Need I say more?
RIP
Exact same as my friend; Graveler, Self-Destruct! But he didn't know what a shiny was!
1st shiny was a lombre. I am currently soft resetting for a shiny froakie to play the story mode with, ~30th attempt
My first one was a Hawlucha and Pancham fainted it T^T
Ow
Your WIFE?!?! Damn I remember when she was your girlfriend
I had NO IDEA they were even married! 😯
I was thinking the same thing
Fckn sht you're here as well
+asian2damax I was thinking the same thing.
Guess none of you follow them on social media.
The true way to get shiny Pokemon in gen 6:
Spend 10 minutes on wonder trade
I spent two days. But I didnt get any:/
+asian2damax Easiest possible method without Gamefreak patching/system updating everything....
I remember like a year ago I got a shiny Milotic on Wonder Trade after 1 trade.
My favorite Wonder Trade so far is a "legal" Hoopa.
+asian2damax I got a shiny hacked arceus, a shiny furret, and a shiny talonflame
Best method NA
I have no idea if you look at these comments anymore but I remember when you first released this video and I used it to catch my first few shinies. Rewatching it has given me a massive wave of nostalgia and brought back that part of my childhood. Thank you for making this video and I’m glad to have found it again
I watched the entire thing without even having the game
That's how bored I am
Lol me to
+ItsEax same here *sigh*
+exlatios I watched all the pokemon videos without owning any gen 4 and beyond games... then I had a seasonal job and I finally bought me a 3DS and Alpha Sapphire. and now I can use this "knowledge"
same
+exlatios I did too, but it was because i was preparing for getting a shiny when i get my game.
I want a shiny-
Serperior(2nd fav)
Arcanine(My fav pokemon)
Cubone(Also my fav, tied)
I did a race with my friend to see who could get a shiny on Wonder trade first and I got a Lv 100 shiny Beedrill and won the contest. We did a round two and he got a shiny furfrou
I found a shiny Zangoose in a horde of Sevipers while watching this video! Guess what happened? Life is good, man.
Haxa rip they killed the shiny
Haxa use ominous wind next time.
Or use follow me. That way, they'll all attack you
squishypanda but he cant use that all the time he needs to remove the seviper's from the battlefield
Tyranitoons that’s what I thought
You actually do need Deoxys for the Shiny Charm in ORAS, but that's not a huge deal considering it's available in the Delta Episode.
No u dont.
As long as you seen it its fine, you see it battling it
I GOT A RED GYARADOS!!!
+xLinkTijger The best shiny. No, really, that is actually in my top five favorite shinies.
Hee linkie
nice!
+xLinkTijger It was the first shiny I caught in Emerald, and let me say that it felt both amazing and disappointing to get the one shiny everyone's already got :P
+xLinkTijger You and the rest of the world.
22:25 The acro bike tip to trigger hidden pokes is an absolute game-changer!
+Lillian Lyles Thanks.
+Lillian Lyles i remember i was following tamashii's guide which was inaccurate imo and it took me around 5 days just to get a shiny
never doing that again, its frustrating and requires a tremendous amount of concentration
I'm planning on helping my sisters get some shinies, and I'm hoping this will give us a bit easier time of it...
shadowslayer74236914 Nope. Sadly it doesn't.
ok..once I started X and Y I choosed froakie as my starter, so when I battled Shauna, MY FROAKIE WAS A SHINY

Use flame body as always (my favorite is Talonflame thanks to having both flame body and fly)
Just take it slowly and do other things in the background, or hyper focus it in periodic sessions.
QuassarSonic2010
That is a good idea, and I should do that so I can get the shiny charm easier in later games. Thanks for the advice
No problem. It's nice to go the extra mile to make it easier later on.
+QuassarSonic2010 Can i have the ralts?
(only if u allow it cuz i was partly joking, but I LOOOVE ralts.)
Owen Russell Sorry, I already fully evolved him.
I got 7 boxes of normal snivy

My first ligit shiny was a shiny gulpin in Pokemon y version. I actually nicknamed it "shiny gulpin". But then it evolved.
+Luke Williams Hahaha
My first shiny was a gulpin as well. So was numbers 2-7, unfortunately. I now have seven shiny swalots.

My first shiny was a shiny Boldore in Pokemon Black.
I think my best shiny Pokemon encounter would be a shiny Graveler on Iron Island (Diamond) (I was hoping like hell that Riley wouldn't defeat it)

VexoX PX also there's evidence of soft resetting the Pokemon at the poke palego being a shiny hunting method
yeah make one
I unintentionally got a Masuda-method Metagross while breeding for a competitive Metagross, so it has four perfect IVs and is basically competitive. Certainly one of my favorite shinies. Interestingly, one of its parents is also a shiny, as my breeding ditto is shiny since I got it from sos chaining
nice lmao
Same case for turtonator when I was just hatching random sword exclusive pokemon. Only difference is that I don't really care about competitive.
If you like shiny hunting please go check out my Pokemon Shield streams at th-cam.com/channels/DEJXuRM6T0KsX4T6lpN1ng.html
the shiny charm is so hard to get
I didnt even bother getting one but over three weeks or so I ended up getting about 13 shinies
I actually can not get the shiny charm because my internet is so bad when I try to connect to the internet it just says that It failed to connect :(
how does that mean you can't get shiny charm?
Do you have 0 irl friends with the other version?
Kazaap88 yes I do have friends but none of them play pokemon
It took me about a week. Just make a list of what you need and use friends and gts
TOM Mirage Islands are in ORAS. Radar Chaining is in XY. That is false.
The pokemon on the mirage islands are good ones. I chained a shiny vulpix on one once.
THANKS FOR THE LUCK!! Was watching at 16:33 while practicing chaining, and caught a shiny foongus after 4 chains!!!
I've been SRing for 3 weeks to find a shiny mudkip and I just SRed over one....R. I. P my Kip..
I give you the shiny luck! ✨
eat this lucky dorito 📐
I've been SRing for a shiny Regirock for almost 2 months now, and I still haven't found it. :|
+The Surfing Pikachu it hurts when it takes a long time but it hurts more when you get it and you lose it.
+Titanicchess Meanwhile I have 3 boxes full of shiny Pokémon....
WHY CANT I HOLD ALL THESE SPARKLES!?
I remember watching this 4 years ago never having shiny hunted once.
Back when I still had a life.
My first shiny was a Cutiefly in Pokémon ultra sun. I still have it in my team to this day and never plan to get rid of it
I have a tip if you want legendaries from other games (not event):
1) Get a lot of dittos (I mean A LOT!!!!)
2) Put them on the GTS for a non event legendary (don't put specific gender or level)
3) Wait for a while. sometimes it can take 2 hours or 2 days but just be patient
This has helped me get every box legendary up to gen 6 and all lake spirits without a lot of effort so hope you find this helpful
AwesomeOcto Similar story for me, I was trying to find a chansey in USUM for grinding, But I ended up getting a shiny petillil.
You mean skarmory
Similar story. I was EV training a Ralts in Y and looking for a horde of something or other that I can't recall, but got a horde of Whismur instead. One of them was shiny.
Then while walking around in Omega Ruby, not even searching for Pokémon, I got a random encounter. Shiny Swablu.
I have played at least one version of each generation of Pokémon and these were my first two shinies ever.
I also got a shiny Roselia and something else I can't remember through Wonder Trading, but I guess those weren't legit.
Mine was i shiny male eevee... i was looking for a female normal one... now i am very happy
First shiny: Spinda
How I found it: It was a random shiny encounter when I was collecting soot.
Don't ask.
im collecting soot, I wanna get everything from the secret base, its long :(
took me about 4 hours in total to get a shiny eevee (#Sylveon) But it took about 2 days since i accidentally ran the first day after accidentally running from a 70 chained eevee.. then i spent about another hour chaining.. broke my chain.. tried again... 8 chain - "Bling!* Me - *ARE U FRIGGEN KIDDING MEH!!!*
James Biorci took me 3mins
James Biorci i have a shiny drifblim i pokemon y
Peli's Games 10eggs for shiny yunngoss I found another one in... 10eggs

i got traded a 6IV Shiny Manectric for a starter.
Get on my level.
I wonder traded a breed Honedge for a shiny pokerus Sharpedo with high ivs and evs.

Or you could catch one of Renae's streams and ask her.

Guess its now the noob shiny hunters time....to SHINE!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA (Im so sorry)
+victoryiamjay Also is it sad that I'm watching a shiny hunting video while shiny hunting?
+Agent Pig Chain fishing as I type lol
+Andyman did you regret that choice?
LOOLZ
Thank you. Thanks to this, I got a shiny skrelp after only 5 chain fish encounters!!
When I found out about chain fishing 3 or 4 years ago, I got a shiny relicanth within 5 minutes. I was all like “whoa this is lit” and proceeded to waste several additional hours getting absolutely nothing.
It was a fun day.
As soon as i heard "complete the national dex", i was gone.
Nathan Lafary big mood
I know, I'm not going to be able to accomplish that!
Honestly, getting a shiny is super easy in ORAS, I already have 7 without shiny charm. The longest one was 1004 DexNav encounters with Pikachu. The odds are super kind in the games, and there’s tons more methods than newer games
Using gts or wonder trading is usually the way to go. Unfortunately... servers are down. Only way now is local friends and (less legit) ways like pksm
I found a shiny boldore I've been hunting for for months while watching this, and got pokerus. This video is a good luck charm
remembers playing pokemon emerald, found first shiny ever in my life, a shiny female rydon, it was lever 27, in the safari zone..... it ran away... i will never forget those odds of 8 thousand.... and how that shiny ran away... then found a random shiny zubat in pokemon moon, and caught it... wow it did get easyer...
And I remember another time I tried hatching a Shiny Chimchar, and I named each and every one of the offspring...
Cause Staraptor is by far my top fave Bird Pokemon and i really wanna do a Masuda Egg with it
And dont worry, i will give it back to you immediatly after i got my own Shiny Starly ^^
+Dirakia no why dont you get your own
Dirakia (Sorry for replying so late)
Sorry, I already traded it back to my friend. Though since I used a destiny knot, I'm sure I have a perfect IV Starly if I just took the time to judge them. Even then, they're all guaranteed 5 IV. If you're still interested, you can keep one since I have dozens.
Your Chain will also break if you encounter a Legendary Bird.. Hope this helped :)
I already have the bird
no it doesnt
it actually doesn't
I'm very late, but no it doesn't
Nope
I got a shiny wailmer out side team magmas hideout.
@@wariocapproductions326 Do you mean so you could have given the cloned one to him? (I atleast assume it is a guy based on the username.)

Am I the only one who doesn't play Pokemon anymore, but is still subscribed and enjoys his videos? lol
+TheSubPredicate Yes.
there is actually a good chance you are, I'm not joking
Yep.
nah I'm the same
I didn't even play Pokemon and I still suscribed.
+Kevin Wells What'd you trade it for?
+Hytura Magikarp
Hytura I think it was Jirachi or Latias
I had a shiny Cocoan that evolved to Dustox in my first run and got a shiny Boltoy looking for a Trapinch. now I have about 15 shines
Kevin Wells Jirachi I can understand, Latias... you can get in game or through the Eon ticket which you get just through streetpasses.
I caught a Shiny Chansey by sheer, glorious coincidence. The most amazing part about it was that I caught it on Easter. And it's an egg-themed Pokémon.
What do you guys think I should nickname my Blissey? (Yeah, it's a Blissey now.)
EGG GOD
+Illoosion "Pure Joy"

+Darth Vader
Hah. I get it.
While watching this, I literally caught a shiny riolu on friend safari!!! Thank you so much!!
I dont give a crap about the "experience" or the "journey". A. I just feel proud about finding one, B. I dont own a cheating device. :D
YEEEEESSSSS!!!!
Bryson Barnett I’m suspicious now.....
Give me ur hacks now
They used the words "experience" and "journey" actually to say what you just said but in a "fancier" way
I got my first and only shiny Pokémon (Pikachu) by accidentally DexNav "chaining". ✨
That’s EXACTLY how I got my shiny Eevee in Alpha Sapphire.
I got a shiny magikarp when using chain fishing! I named it butter boy! :D
Ive found a shiny feebas after only 84 encounters. There are spots where only feebas appear in ORAS. Using a headphone helped to not miss clicking the right time. And using a Pokemon with sticking hold also helps a lot.
Just in time! 6th gen only started almost 2 years ago!
Dumbass, not everybody knows about shiny hunting. They can make whatever videos they want, whenever they want .
LuminousStryker Sorry my sass is too subtle for you
Hey the comments are enabled again. Nice! In one hunting session, I caught a shiny Growlithe in 45 mins in the friends safari.

The odds are high
If it helps, seven years later data miners discovered the Chain Fishinf odds are close to/probably 1/100 odds
I had shiny litwick, drilbur, hydreigon, zorua and wombat. Sold my game when I was really hard up for money and fell out of love with pokemon. Now I'm back into it, the thought of it kills me every day 😫

isnt that a manaphy
TurtlePlays52 Nope, the Manaphy is the one with the red gem. Which, that doesn’t help if you were looking at a regular Phione, but still.
So that’s why Phione looked weird..
I caught a shiny wailmer while watching this video!!! Yesssss
my only shiny experience was a golden gravler that knew self destruct. :(
My first shiny was a Ponyta
+Simon Hansen SAME!!!!
+jarren reed That was my second shiny encounter. Since then, I never use master balls on legendaries.
+jarren reed That's exactly what happened to me in my SoulSilver. I should've thrown a quick ball right away instead of dwindling its health down like I did, just to at least prove I tried to catch it. What a way for the game to troll players hard.
When I first started breeding, 2 of my newly hatched pokemon had Pokerus
In X and Y the yellow and purple bushes right outside of the daycare can be circled to have the daycare man turn around. So you don't have to go back and forth from the cave to the town.
Please do research for sun and moon I can't seem to find any good ways in sun and moon!!
Hope that helps
Sos method is sooo easy and fast
try SOS
sos duh
I would say use SOS, but your game a bad. Play X/Y instead.
i fucked up catching a shiny draginier by killing it ...
+gold leo That sucks, maybe next time bring a Breloom or Smeargle with Spore and False swipe
Bruceja - Gaming & More! thanks man . nut i played it in pokemon heart gold or soul silver
I wound up killing a shiny Hoothoot in SS with a crit. I was so devastated
I messed up even worse. I found a shiny litwick by walking in dragon spiral tower in black 2. I was a bit dumb back then. So I killed it for experience. I screwed up.
By I was dumb, I meant I was a dumb KID
In x a wailmer and skiddo and in moon a wingull, eevee and litten(that one took a LONG time)
PokeRadar chaining is new to me, but it was very easy to learn, thank you for telling me what it is!
my first shiny was a geodude after i beat a chancey in pokemon diamond my second one was a poochyata (sorry miss spelled) in pokemon alpha sapphire as my first pokemon caught in tall grass after i got my treeko.
Completing the National Pokédex is A BIT of a challenge?
I just realised, I've seen a shiny pikachu but didn't realise and ran away
Much as I'd like to play a gen 6 Pokemon game when I haven't yet, my first shiny Pokemon was actually a Weedle in Fire Red. I initially beat the game with my starter as Squirtle, and decided to make a new game choosing Charmander. Found the shiny Weedle shortly after entering Viridian Forest.
i found a shiny magnemite in 6 hordes :D
gg!
PotatoTheCarrot PTC nice
I found one in the Soul Silver Safari Zone, then I found one in a horde in Alpha Sapphire while looking for a Shiny Voltorb
i never bought a pokemon game ;D
Shiny hunting then: Actual step-by-step methods
Shiny hunting now: Sammich

Tip: play games with any Pokémon you want to develop a friendship with then feed it poke puffs and repeat.

i tried the fishing chaining and i got a shiny relicanth on the 9th encounter :D
After USUM we need a gen 7 one
Finally! Omg! Just Moment Of Scilence........ Okay.... 27,438 SR yeah... 27K! #ShinyTreekoLOVE
27438?! How do you have the patience? I can barely do chain fishing without getting bored XD
TurtleFlakes I got a Shiny Kyurem after 1000+ Soft Resets. It took me an entire Sunday and half of a Monday
I'm STILL trying to find my shiny Treecko...lost track at over 10k SRs, but I KNOW I'm close or at 20k now-I've been hunting off and on for 2 years now, too x.x;;;
I wasn't counting but I got shiny Treecko after about 2000+ resets. It took me like 2 weeks cause I didn't have time to reset
Im like 2 years late but it only took me around 1500 to get my shiny mudkip
i started alpha sapphire today and the poochyena i got in the dex nav tutorial was shiny :) first shiny ever in any pokemon game
I want to hunt for shinies but I don't have a shiny charm
Me either. I'm going to use one of the methods mentioned where the shiny charm doesn't matter :)
+xXSachiXx awesome I'm trying to get a shiny magikarp chain of 42 right now
+xXSachiXx get anything
+Fetty Wap Did you get anything yet?
+Fetty Wap that's my situation too. I'm glad there are methods that don't require it :)
it took me 1 month to get the shiny charm. i need a life lmao
Really? With that GTS thingy the new games have it only took me like 3 days :p
Thunderboy0312
Lmao I did it w/o GTS. Only Pokebank and Pkmn X
1 month, wow you have friends to trade with? Such jelly
+I'm a Human Being except you know they wouldn't know half this stuff because they can't look at the game code
Took me 5 minutes
I guess the "Shiny Hunting" thing is why I get SO MANY people asking me for shiny trades. I, myself, am not into the hype of "Shiny Hunting"; and, therefore, don't really care. The ONLY shiny pokémon I'm looking for is the Red Genesect. I have NON-SHINY legendary pokémon (including Hoopa). I have a couple of shiny COMMON pokémon that others have traded me.
[WARNING: The following is a rant]
When I was attempting to obtain a Fancy Pattern Vivillon, almost EVERYONE who was willing to trade me one REFUSED to trade...unless I gave them a SHINY LEGENDARY in return!
[End of rant]
I have a few pokémon that I'm looking for: Shiny (red) Genesect, Volcanion, original Katakana name for Pumpkaboo...any size (it needs to be holding an Everstone), original Katakana name for Phantump (it needs to be holding an Everstone), and (although, IMPOSSIBLE) MissingNo.
+PokéTriforce
At most, a Fancy Pattern Vivillon is worth a competitive shiny or two, and those are quite easy to obtain via the use of /r/SVExchange.
Oh shit, I traded my Fancy Pattern Vivillon thinking it was a normal one.....
FUUUUUUU
FabulousKicker I feel for you. It was worth any Pokémon EXCLUSIVE. As long as you got something you wanted and/or needed...
***** Sorry to break this to you:
The shiny Suicune was, probably, the event one.
PokéTriforce
No, it was a bargain. The shiny Suicune would fetch a good 5-6 competitive shinies on /r/PokemonTrades.
