Mark talking about racing etiquette is the best take I’ve heard on it. Ill get so frustrated on IRacing from other drivers and Mark got it perfect when he said the right move isn’t your own to make anymore.

Mark was my favorite Nascar driver by far. I was a drag racer for 10 years and, racing a Ford, I had my engine built by Jack Roush. This was in the late 70s and through the 80s. That's when Mark was coming up and, through the Roush connection, I began following him on the Nascar curcuit. I saw him run good at MIS and went to Talledaga and saw him beat Dale Earnhardt in the only caution free race there. He never won a Nascar championship but he was a class act and certainly a champion in my book. Great interview, guys!

I am 2 years younger than Mark and amazingly fortunate to live in Wisconsin all my life. We got to see Mark, Trickle, Kulwicki, Shear, Senneker, Wallace etc so many times a month. My home track was Slinger Speedway in Slinger Wi. Worlds fastest 1/4 mile high bank asphalt. Every Sunday night we would go and hope to see one of those guys show up. Especially Mark, for some (usually ridiculous) reason he would get sent to the rear. Absolutely the greatest thing was watching Mark come through the field against very fast local guys, like Alan Kulwicki started there etc. Super late model world track record there is held by a local guy 11.095 Tony Strupp. They have a huge race once a year now(was twice) but nascar guys would show up 3, 4 maybe 5 of them. the Allisons, Bonnett, Earnhardt sr, Schrader, Senneker, Trickle, Wallaces, Waltrips etc etc. It was amazing, and after the races like Mark said they/we would all go to a local bar. Bar owner would slide 8-10 cases beer out the back door at closing time. The parking lot was packed. From just over the state line was Rockford speedway up through Wi. a lot of asphalt tracks including the Milwaukee Mile. I was so fortunate to race slot cars with a couple guys and through them I pitted for Joe Ruttman in USAC and Tony Strupp (the world record holder for late models at Slinger) Meeting Rusty Wallace and his brothers in USAC is how i became a huge Rusty fan all my life as my best friends fav was Mark. We bet on everything they raced each other lol. Then to find out that Rusty and Mark were very close friends. Awesome times, and sorry so long, but i could go on n on lol

I came into NASCAR in 2009...Mark Martins "swansong" season. Well, dammit, I was a fan. Hendrick hired him out of retirement, and he came on strong in that five car. He's my age and he came in to the 5 car, and won a bunch of races that year! Life sized images were up in my local commissary for his sponsor at the time. He was basically superman...Jimmie said so. Jimmie had the utmost respect for him. And Martin came in second for the championship....again. He really deserved to win a championship, but I've never seen him show any bitterness at all. He always comes across as a very likeable guy that I would love to sit down and have a beer with.

Funny Mark Martin saying Martin Truex Jr. reminds him the most of himself. Anyone else remember those old Xifnity (Busch) series commercial from 2004/05 where an Xfinity driver would talk but then they’d take their face off and they’d reveal themselves to be a Cup driver saying “That’s why I like racing in the NASCAR Busch series”? After talking Truex Jr pulled off his face and revealed himself to be Mark Martin.
