This has just popped in my recommended videos and well.. I loved it! Love how you describe things and test sofas 😂 subscribing to watch the other ones. Moving to Dublin in a couple of months so very good to check out how the ferry works!!
Thanks for subbing! I'm glad you enjoyed it - there's an updated version of this video for 2022 on the channel. Welcome to your new home (or back to Ireland if you're returning)!
This was the first video I watched on this channel.. Enjoyed the tour as well as the generous dollops of humor... Hello properly lit mirror... That was really funny 🤣.... Best wishes from India
We just did the ferry between Eemshaven NL and Kristiansand NO. The 18 hours trip was very comfortable. We are now looking at the Ferry trip to Ireland from Cherbourg next year. Hope driving an Electric Car is doable in Ireland.
I was just in Norway and the facilities for electric car charging were excellent. I can see there are a couple of Tesla chargers in some Irish locations and other providers too, including at traditional petrol stations. I think there are some apps that you can use, which would help you plan your route to keep charged. Safe travels!
Yes I do! Nothing like a final Irish sausage before facing into a month away from traditional food! You spotted that I did have them for dinner AND breakfast. Guess the diet's not going very well! Glad to have you as a subscriber.
Patrick I've just found you! Love your style. Clear and concise. To my ear you have a southern accent but you say somethings with a northern twang :) I look forward to catching up with you in the future so I thought it best to subscribe. Keep up the good work.
Thanks and welcome! I have a mish-mash of all the accents at this stage of the game! I'm glad you subscribed - Only 122 other videos to catch up on :)!!
@@PlanetPatrick No seats back then, I tried to sleep in the "lounge" and got kicked out, then tried to sleep on the floor in a common area to be awakened by cleaning staff running the vacuum cleaner into me at 3 or 4 am... it was a memorable trip at least! 😆

Hi Muhammad, I am sorry about your situation. It is not possible to take the ferry illegally. There are considerable checks before anyone can get on board. This may not be helpful, but it would be sensible to be in touch with migrant organisations who can help and represent you and amplify your voice.

Hello Patrick from another 4 pillow lover! We're relocating from Ireland to Sweden next Spring and doing the "flying vs ferry" thing (we have a dog). But, selfish woman that I am, all I could do when you mentioned the "rollong and pitching" was groan...I get seasick. And airsick. WHERE IS THE DAMN BRIDGE ALREADY!!? Ahem ,sorry, lol.. Please can you tell me honestly how rough it gets, and does it last most of the journey? Great vid though, thanks. :)
We are very special people, us 4-Pillowers! Thanks for your comment. I am not sure there will ever be a bridge, or a tunnel, but you never know! I wonder which route you are thinking of for Ireland to Sweden? To Cairnryan or maybe Holyhead or Liverpool and then to Holland or direct to Sweden from Immingham? I'm fine with gentle or even firm ferry 'rolls', but really not okay when it gets super-pitchy, at least for a long time. I can bear it if it's a short journey. I've done the Cairnryan trip tens of times (I lived in Glasgow for a while) and only once did it get very pitchy. Normally it's fine. Irish Ferries to France is mainly fine, but there is significant section where it does get pitchy, even with stabilisers. I will be posting a new video in the next week or so from Brittany Ferries from Spain to Ireland and I had to stay on the bed for a lot of the trip. I certainly couldn't read or focus. The direct ferry from England to Sweden is, I think, 28 hours. All of this depends on the weather, the time of year, whether stabilisers are used, etc. I think short journeys are fine, especially with a pet. Here's my thoughts (others, please share yours!): 1. If driving from Ireland to Sweden, go via Holyhead (short) and then cross either to Rotterdam, or take the Eurotunnel or Calais ferry. Drive to Sweden. Obviously this is a major commitment to driving. 2. Flying: some of the full-service airlines DO offer a dog-transfer service - it's much faster (more traumatic for the pooch?) and it's one and done. 3. No car? Take the train and use the Sail/Rail fare from Ireland or Northern Ireland - I'm not fully aware of pet policies, but it's worth looking into. If I've forgotten anything, prod me again!
@@PlanetPatrick Huge thanks Patrick, lots of helpful info in there and I do like the idea of the shorter ferry trip and driving up to Sweden, but also I've never heard of the Sail/Rail thing so am off to check that out. Again, many thanks, you've been really helpful. :)
Thanks for the sub! I am delighted you are here, and I'm definitely accepting your 'not old' comment :) Hope you enjoy some of the latest videos - if you like ferry videos, there's a new Brittany Ferries one, plus new flight, train, hotel and destination reports from Canada this month!
Hi @Awais - you’ll need the sworn statement letter… the template is available from the Irish Ferries website (they have a page for people travelling from NI) or from the French Embassy website. It’s a one page document which you can print in advance (you must print it). Secondly, your vaccination certificate- you can use the new NI Covid app. I’d download and check it has your details *early* as there were some problems with it last month. Enjoy your trip!
Hi Val, the sworn statement was a requirement of the French government... it's like a one page Word template that you print out and have to sign... saying you declare that you haven't been around people with Covid, etc.
Hi Cillian, it wasn’t completely packed. You’ll see in the video what it’s like getting on board. The restaurant area didn’t get too busy either. I stayed in my cabin after I ate. When heading back to the cars, it got very crowded while waiting and no social distancing.
Hi Darko, it’s terrible. You get a short period free (per device) and you can pay for faster speed up to 4 hours at a time, I think. Some may choose this, I didn’t. I tried to live without. Each device you use gets a short period free, so spread them out.
Absolutely useless, and there’s no coverage in the cabins - wi-fi only available on the main deck. Cabin TV channels are limited to Sky News, BBC. Rather take a book to read.
I can't believe Irish Ferries didn't put 3 pin plugs on the WB Yeats. Only European plugs. Ridicious.. didn't see any Irish staff onboard the ship. Very disappointed with the layout of the ship. Baltic cruise ferries are far superior for passengers comfort
Hi Brigitta- thanks for subscribing! It does depend… if you are coming from Ireland and have an EU Country Passport, and you are fully vaccinated… then you need your Vaccine Certificate (paper or electronic) plus a sworn statement (Irish Ferries has a link to the template to print out and sign, or the French Embassy has it). There are so many other permutations… some people cannot enter France based on nationality and vaccination status, without an essential reason. So it’s worth checking to suit your circumstances. I have to say the Irish Ferries guide on their website is very detailed.
It did not! Pain in the neck and the information desk were nice but couldn’t / didn’t fix it. I took an iPad with a load of movies on it so it was okay in the end!
Very nice cabin though - quite spacious and new compared to DFDS's ships between the Netherlands and the UK. But you have to love that you can "do your business" and have a shower at the same time....convenient for "an elderly gentleman"! hihi And don't you wish you had more of those black-out curtains when you were touring Iceland?!?!?!

I did this trip without a cabin and on foot in 1994 and it REALLY sucked... I've often wondered what the cabins are like... Great vid!
I bet! I think nowadays you have to have at least a reclining seat in order to book a ticket, so I'm not sure how much better that was than in 1994!
