    • @ananass8030
      @ananass8030 7 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand South Park. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head.

    • @milascave2
      @milascave2 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well, like Shakespeare, it operates on multiple levels. There are simple jokes that even kids can get, and subtle ones that take postmodernist philosophy degrees to fully comprehend.

      Whilst I think south park is brilliant and asks questions on a deeper level I have 2 things to say
      A. Watching and understanding the questions that south parks asks and the statements that it makes does not make you smarter or better than anyone else
      B. Just because you make references to what's happening and make commentaries on them does not mean you are right,just because south park separates itself from everyone else and tries to make jokes about everyone else does not mean what it says about everyone else is right

      Donald Baker
      Certain celebrities live off rumors and paparazzi following them (see the Kardashians). They even hire them to take photos of them while they go to the grocery store or wherever so they can stay relevant. The whole celebrity thing is jus a business ploy that shows like TMZ or People magazine thrive on.

    • @markeith50
      @markeith50 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Donald Baker OK..So what constitutes "Celebrity?" Because it would seem that Fox News talking heads have influence. MSNBC talking heads have influence. TH-camrs have influence. Politicians have influence. Don't believe me ask people about Obamacare..then as about the Affordable Care Act. See the difference. People are People. I don't care what Ted Nugent has to say, just like i don't care what Kanye West has to say.

    • @WAX1138
      @WAX1138 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A LOT is always TWO words Well I know the definition could have multiple interpretations but personally I was talking about celebrities in film, TV, & music industry because they are the most offensive & blatant and because their audience is so large... i'm sure some are just ignorant, "Useful idiot". Also primarily I mean the agenda (not necessarily their own agenda) driven stuff that they spread that is not in a person or persons best interest, mortality (life), understanding, happiness, or freedom

    • @markeith50
      @markeith50 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Donald Baker Really?? Mortality? Not in Best Interest of person...i would refer you back to the people who are against Obamacare, but for Affordable Care Act. But I would love to hear of a time you could tell me when a celebrity did such a thing?? Do tell...

    Another must know reference is season 3s Korn's Groovy Halloween Mystery where they parody Scooby Doo as well as the ways of mob mentality through religious dogma when the town of South Park is put in fear of The Pirate Ghosts after Father MacKey warns of the evil that follows Halloween and puts the blame on Korn touring through their town in a great parody of Scooby Doo and 80's Saturday morning cartoons. Not as big an issue or episode but it's still a great early look at South Park's ways of bringing messages in a satirical and comedic way. Also it's one of the first episodes I saw and still stands up every time I watch it, classic episode all around.

    you forgot one that not many people notice, but it’s definitely there. the episode “the jersey thing” references the student revolutionary storyline of les miserables. they built a barricade to revolt against the jerseys, fought with muskets, and ran out of ammo. in les miserables, the revolutionary group suffered the same fate, except the third event resulted in the defeat and subsequent deaths of all of them.

      chapter5 because that what south park has become, not a show with nowhere to go and fans who swallows the loads as told. To all the Wisecrack team : thanks for such a wonderfully clear and structured analysis of South Park, one of my favourite cartoon of my adulthood.
    This is to salute your efforts of documentation, comparative litterature and overall vulgarisation (one of the best words around, comes from the latin word meaning "the people / the crowd"). Making accessible complexe cultural and societal issues is what South Park does best, so congratulations to Wisecrack for reaching the same goal.
    Please keep generating quality content and being humanist (that's the feeling I perceive of you when I watch your channel, sorry if I'm wrong and you're all empathic knowledgeable nazis ;)) Cheers
