Wiper motor was easy. It was just a signal and a 12v park. the motor itself is chassis grounded. Hopefully get the headlights figured out after world cup finals
Damn!! I was confused from the get go! my brain doesn't break stuff down that way! I do understand it a little bit but it is for sure confusing. thanks for that explanations!
Thank you for good video again. I'm going also to the pdm way when i'm getting my car rewired. I want to get rid of relay and fuse boxes in the chassis. Also the old wires and connectors from 1984. Also that's why as you said it's more simple for diagnosis. I'm not going to do the wiring myself so it will be very expensive but it should be worth it. But yeah, thanks again, i like that you tell us viewers some technical information. I'd like to hear that 86 in the videos. But please dont put the microphone in to enginebay in driving footage in my opinion it's too much, no one puts their head in enginebay while they're driving. 😅😂
PDMs are the way to go no doubt. Glad you enjoyed the video! Im hoping to do a driving video soon but the microphone issue is def something Im struggling with on driving things. My current mics get blown out too much but Ill figure something out
I just finished watching your whole ae86 pdm series and I’m so glad I found your channel cause I’m interested in doing it in mine! I am currently running a link ecu with my 20v silver top engine but the chassis harness is a wreck so I think I’m going to go the pdm route now after watching your videos! I had a few questions tho…. Did you leave the oem wires for fuel gauge, clock, door open, etc? Or did all of those come out with the oem harness? Also were you able to find all the wire colors on the fsm or did you have to probe and test each one to figure out the inputs especially on things like the cluster? Thank you!!
Glad you liked it all! I havnt hooked up my fuel level sender yet, but they are easy to program in the pdm. I also didnt run clock/door open stuff. You gotta keep in mind how many inputs/outputs and the size of the pdm. Those also would easy to wire in if you had spares. As for the cluster/gauges i was able to find an old club4age post that had the pin outs. The tach is the only issue as the resistor on the motor itself needs to be swapped out due to the voltage requirement being different from a stand alone vs ignitor/distributor. Hope that all helps 😬 feel free to ask if you got more questions tho
How did you depin the OEM connectors and found new pins for the new wires to put in the OEM connectors? You basically reused the oem connectors but then wired it to DTM deutsche connectors which then went to your PDM? Such as the headlight connectors, you reused the oem ones but still connected them to a deutsche connector somewhere between the headlight oem connector and your PDM?
Yes all oem connectors are a basic little sub harness from the oem part to the pdm wiring. That way if theres an issue its easier to service. I get all my connectors and pins from corsa technic 👍
I can't wait to see the headlights working. I'm planning on a pdm for my ae86 as well. And how did you end up doing the wiper motor as well

thank you for this video !! more pdm stuff !!
Theres going to be some more pdm stuff on a FD rx7 here real soon. Just gotta finish some body work on a wrx
Thanks for breaking it down! That is quite the undertaking. But I can see how it would definitely be worth it in the long run!
Glad it was helpful!

Haha yeah it can def be a bit of a learning curve no doubt
