4AGE has to be one of the best sounding I4 engines ever hell it definitely my second favourite I4 engine sound, just behind the Honda F20 from the SP1 S2000
Any high revving engine with ITB's sounds amazing, but having VVT also helps of course. A nicely tuned, high revving straight six with ITB's sounds absolutely glorious!
@@duanJ_aka_wfoundry I prefer the 4A over any of Honda's i4 vtec. And I daily a k20 lol. I find whatever engine Toyota makes to sound good. Used to have a 7M and 1JZ and both sounded amazing
I want to commend you on a lovely demonstration of spirited driving on a road. You drove well within your capacity, slowing down extra where an unsuspecting hazard could be coming but giving it the beans when appropriate. It's nice to see such a calm, collected and respectful drive that is still thrilling. That car was putty in your hands. Love it!
This (the original) was the reason I kept coming back to your content, and what led me to subscribe. I love the sound in the video. Still excited to be given the opportunity to listen to it, thank you
I truly do not know what’s more impressive the self control on those beautiful roads or your ability to heel toe in crocs and socks. Leave some nookie for the rest of us you damn legend.
Love it! My mum had an AE82 FXGT when I was growing up, and now I have an AW11 with the 20V in it. Can't beat '80s Toyota in pure fun factor, honestly.
I was reading into the 4AGE and the development of it, the AE86 and the FX16 Corollas for other markets, and Toyota was apparently inspired by the Cosworth BDA engine that Ford was using in the Mark 1 and Mark 2 Escort, particularly the ones built for motorsports. Broadly the same dimensions, bolts up to a Ford gearbox. Toyota took the concept and basically made it reliable. I've been coming back to your videos for years. Nothing like a 20v (known as the blacktop?) on ITBs!
10 years of watching your videos .. and I'm still yet to fit my 6 speed manual transmission and rebuild the ol 1998 Toyota sprinter GT 20v blacktop. Love your videos brother 🙏🏼
Sounds so awesome! Nice driving and shifting too! Thank you for the upload. When i hear this i kinda wish i went for the 4AGE 20V instead of the 2ZZ because the 20V sounds fantastic across the whole rev range which i miss on the 2ZZ.
One day, you will be older and the Corolla maybe no longer be there, and you'll watch this so many years later and you're gonna realize that was the best car you have ever owned. And you're going to say: ah yes, the Corolla I really miss that car.
on that first downshift my headphones have almost exploded - ITBs just make an engine sing such nice gurgly music, it is so hardcore that it makes you, in fact, croc it to the metal ... (I think that crocs are still probably better than heavy boots - I for instance when traveling on a longer distance just drive with socks on, it really does change how one feels them pedals)
Thanks for this beautiful piece of content! I still get so excited every time you put new stuff out. This was the exact road you were driving on one of your earlier videos that made me subscribe to your channel in the first place Love the heel and toe on the crocs haha! Strangely, I enjoy driving in my crocs too.
oh man thats one NASTY sounding little engine! Nothing beats good old N/A power! Must be so fun and driveable on such nice roads! Big support for more of this!
Cool video brother! Freshly laid tarmac, the cool crocks and socks with heel and toe like a pro and a beautiful sounding engine with ITB's...doesn't get much better ;)
One day when the original 4afe in my '90 sedan dies (it only has 110k km on it so could be awhile) I'll have someone do the full swap to 4AGE. Such a glorious sound
Still adore this car. Inspired me to buy an even higher revving, even less power and displacement twin cam snotbox of my own. 1991 swift gti twin cam, g13B engine is just a wish 4age. Admittedly missing the extra intake valve, itb’s, and everything else that makes your car great
Had to reupload because original had a weird audio pop sound at 10 seconds!
You got may message about the cams im using?
You jest 😂 but the original video made me subscribe
Heel toe with crocs - this guys a pro😂
They're not even in performance mode
god foot is bare feet 🤣
Only Bunta has him beat with socks and sandals lol
with hot cheeto socks
He slipped on the Crocs and said "later gator" 😂
The real flex isn't the engine, the car, the speed. It's those magnificent crocs blipping downshifts.
I think it really is!
Plus the heel-toe technique while on crocs. Lol

What do you mean? Crocs with socks will always be cool. Especially colorful ones xD

Lightweight crocs, this man is serious.
