I ALWAYS ship breakables double boxed 2 layers tissue 1 layer paper bubble wrap. Most supplies I ask small vendors small businesses saved me $$$ I sell consignment to encourage my friends to help save package materials Uline is good source for box & poly bags too
Don't let it overwhelm you just remember under a pound ship first class in plain box or poly and over a pound is priority. Weigh the items and put that in for calculated shipping (box size doesn't matter unless it will go over 12x12x12)
That's what scares me too. I'm going to do market place first then invest in laptop and good printer after I make enough to get a good one. I have memory issue and thought this would be a great way to process things I really have to remember.
Omg such a boy thing to try to step on it. I literally spit my drink out laughing. Thanks..... I needed that! Thanks for sharing all the details. Would love to see shipping items like The Niche Lady and Matt does sometimes.

“Don’t step on it” was hilarious! He is so cute!! Excellent job breaking it all down, I now have a whiteboard with your notes above my shipping area thanks!! Question about Regional boxes and best time to use those. Haven’t heard much info on them. Disappointed I missed your premiere hopefully make next one!
Helpful...shipping is expensive here but recently a business by the name of sendle has emerged with great rates and includes a pick up service in the price which is generally cheaper than traditional services....one will need to visit the post office from time to time. Really like how u guys can do pallet boys...haven't seen much of that here but my eyes are now peeled... , thanks Kat
yeah it is getting quite expensive here as well! I have people complain frequently and we don't charge handling fees just exact postage. I'm glad that company is having good rates for you! I don't know of pallet places there but I would think there are some. Are there auction sites with estate items etc?
USPS provides insurance on items up to $50 ON PRIORITY ONLY. If I sell something over $100 I add insurance to shipping in 1st class. USPS insurance will cover damage too.
Thanks for the advice, I have been struggling with shipping, free vs calculated. I live in Washington Sate so similar to you being in one of the corners of the country. When I do free shipping about 75% of my sales go to zones 8&9 and my calculated shipping items sit a lot longer and ship to closer zones. I feel I am losing out on sales when I do calculated as higher shipping costs put people off. I have to bake shipping into my selling price and I am probably losing a bit on the east coast sales but I feel getting a sale and losing a $1 or $2 is better than not getting the sale at all or having items sit.
For me unfortunately it isn't a dollar or two. I do breakables so alot of times the difference is $10 which if it is a $20 plate would mean my profit would be gone out the window unfortunately. Luckily I think enough of mine is one offs that people are willing to pay the extra on calculated.
@@TheNurseFlipper laser printers use toner. In my experience toner lasts much much longer. And you can print anything with a laser printer. In my case I already had a laser printer. This is the one I use amzn.to/3JEVl0y I use it for everything it goes up. It really depends on the quantity you buy (I buy in bulk because I sell alot) smaller quantities cost more. You can use any bags for usps but can't use priority to go first class is the big thing but ebay can go first class
I would ship first class in a plain plastic poly mailer or small envelope. I don't ship regular mail because there is no tracking, so the lowest shipping we do is first class. It should cost right at $3
Great video! Love It! I really appreciate your description of what you mail in the various types of supplies. Do you mail cosmetics? If so, any tips? Thanks!
I don't sell many, but when I did I used alot of small 4x4 or 6x6 boxes depending on the type if lotions and stuff padded mailers the small 6x9 work great !

Really good advice on here, I am struggling with no internet so I have the post office scan the upc off the labels on make Ebay sent to my email. It can be hard at the post office if you bring a lot of packages.
Am I correct that eBay gives us a discount when we buy our postage thru them, but then takes a percentage of the shipping charges as a separate final fee? Thanks for a very informative video. Dave in PA.
Yes that is correct. They take 10% of shipping cost as a fee I believe. This is because a long time ago (I remember this!) people would charge 99 cents for an item and way overcharge on shipping say $49.99 so ebay started this to deter that. However, the discount is normally I believe 20% or more so you still get a extra 10% which I figure will normally cover box and packing materials in most cases!
You have a huge Winnie the Pooh plush. How should I ship it? I’ve heard you can use a big black garbage bag. Can you give me the specifics on doing this?
Thank you! I’m thinking I will wrap it in a garbage bag and then wrap it in another one. So I’m assuming you just measure the largest dimensions if Winnie as if you were putting him in a box?

Yes priority mail labels can be used on any box as long as you're shipping priority. You just don't want to use priority branded items to ship first class or UPS or Fed Ex!
Hey there and thanks for all of your helpful video's! Quick question for the pamphlets you've been selling do you use some type cardboard in the mailing envelope to protect the item? Thanks, Ann of annsouthernfinds

We bring ours to the regular post office. You can also have your mailman pick them up when they deliver your mail. You can put in mailbox if they fit or schedule for a free pickup on USPS.com

@Jody Stewart the only flat rate packages USPS offers are through Priority. So the one you're probably referring to was a padded flat rate envelope. So this would cost about $8 if the item is 1lb or 15lb as long as it fits in the padded flat rate envelope.
