- Willy Jansen of Iowa wanted a tractor like his Dad used to have. His is a 1959 Farmall 460, which was just an all around handy tractor on the farm! These Farmall tractors were built from 1958 to 1963. The 6-cylinder engine delivered about 46 horsepower at the drawbar. The engine delivered a little too much power for the original rear end, so I-H had to do some replacing of parts of the tractor frames.

My old boss' grandpa had two 460 row crop. Great tractors and pretty easy to work on.
Red and white is always a delight! Red Power then...Red Power. Now!
I was a JD dealer in the 70-80s in WI, 460's were uncommon but loved trading in 460 & 560 IH tractors (gas). We would paint them and they'd sell quickly to hobby farmers. I have to admit a freshly painted red IH is really an attractive tractor and gets attention.
That Farmall 460 is one gorgeous tractor. Mr. Willy Jansen has some nice tractors and equipment and I'd be willing to bet he is popping his buttons with the granddaughter's involvement too, her 656 is great looking as well. Thanks and I hope you all have a nice weekend!
Nice story nice tractor i always thought the 460 and 560 were Farrnalls best looking tractors and like he said were so far ahead of all the other tractor makers at the time. Many in use this very day so a testament to IH.
Beautiful tractor, I grew up with 560 Diesel, great tractors.
In 1970, my dad and his dad bought a Farmall 460 gas with the fast hitch and also wide front. They likewise had the 3-14's for plowing. It was our biggest tractor until my dad bought a Farmall 706 in 1982. The 450 still gets a lot of use on the farm. I loved the fast hitch when raking, because you didn't need to get off and crank to raise or lower the rake, just had to move a lever on the tractor!
Nice collection sharp 👍🏻🇺🇲
Very nice 59 Farmall 460, & your small collection I/H tractors.
We love are old IH's on our little hay farm, 706, 806, 606, 300, etc. (plus a green JD and a blue Ford). Tractor over-kill.
Factory wide front on my 460,
It makes a very big circle!
Looks darn nice :)
Great Farmall, and a great story too! Great vid!
Thanks for another great video Brian.
It was an interesting video.
That is a beautiful 460. These were good tractors.
We had a 460 and a 560. Both nice tractors.
This gentleman has a nice ih collection. His 460 is very nice.
Thanks Brian.
The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
That's a beautiful tractor. My uncle had a Cockshutt tractor with those narrow wheels on it, my Dad didn't like those tractors very much, said they were too tippy. This Farmall looks better that new! :)
Beautiful work
I'd love to find the Farmall H that my Dad traded a Ford 8N and all its implements for. It burned so much oil when he got it, it looked like a diesel. He had to plow in second gear with the throttle wide open. That Winter he overhauled the engine; installing thin walled sleeves and oversized rings. He stepped the transmission up a gear as well. After that it plowed in fourth gear, half throttle. Any more gas and it would throw the dirt way out of the furrow.
never would have gotten rid of his dads if it was me
As a "Green", gotta poke at the "Reds" and remind you all the '49 John Deere M was the first production farm tractor with rear speed connect hitch.
“And go”
M tractors were the same diameter as the 560 the 460 used H.
1959 630 weighed the same, same power most nearly. What tractor are they referring to then?
Probably compared to Olivers, AC, MF, and Ford.
630 s could tug with the rest of them
Allis Chalmer D-17. They had more power on the PTO but not enough weight even with fluid in the tires and wheel weights they had to be used with the Snap-Coupler plow or they would spin out!
In Iowa you need to be 16 to drive a tractor on the road? Here in NY I have seen kids as young as 10 driving a tractor on the roads.
In South Carolina kids drive them as soon as their feet can fully reach the pedals. We can't wait until they turn 16... Too much work to do.
Probably meant a car driving license so she did not have to be chaffered.
Too much "power" for the frame?🤦♂️
Second worst tractor ever made...
