    Excellent! I was trying to do just this with DaVinci Resolve but this method using Magix is much simpler and the 3D labels are much more attractive. Great job.

    Thanks so much for making this how-to Dave! I will certainly be playing around with this feature!
    Oh, and thanks for the shoutout! 😄

    It looks like you don't need to go to the effects tab because the resize handles are on the viewer by default so you could just drag it to size without resorting to an unnecessary step.

    if your tracking a player in a soccer game would you follow the same steps? Also does magix pro allow you to put a spot light/ highlight a player using the same steps?

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The highlighting could be done but tracking a soccer player would not work very well because MEP relies on high contrast areas on the subject. If the lighting changes or another player crosses over the subject the tracking is lost.

    Hi do you know if I can add a 3D object and motion track it? NOT TEXT an actual chosen object but 3 dimension, I know how to do this but it is only 2 dimensional. Thanks!

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To the best of my knowledge there are no actual 3D objects in MEP. It's just a movie editor not a 3D animation tool.

      @@DaveMerc Thanks for getting back, yes it is just I already have the 3D image. I can do image tracking but when I add the 3D image it just comes out all flat. I am just not very good with these software programs, I tried after effects and was overwhelmed with it and did not have a clue. But I am so used to Magix as I had it since version 15 and I have this version too and quite familiar with it. Just a bit frustrating as I just wanted to do was add a 3D skull I already created with faceworx witch was surprisingly easy. I can do the motion tracking quite well on the magix movie edit but it looks crap as it is only 2D. Have you any idea of an easy way to do this, it doesn't need to be perfect I just want to add a 3D skull head I already have in place of mines. Thanks!

      @@zombeat7376 I'm sure it's probably a format problem and could be resolved by changing the output of your 3D designer however I don't have any idea what settings are required. If you ever find out I would sure like to know. Xara is used with MEP sometimes th-cam.com/video/eapOcYhS--o/w-d-xo.html

      @@DaveMerc thanks again. I had a look at the xara thing you have to do a 2d image to open on mepx. I downloaded trial for mepx and xara. Messed around with it for a long time and got nowhere. Looks like magix is just not for custom 3 dimensional images, although it has it's own ones for fonts. It's obvious i will need to just try and get to grips with the power director or after effects. Or... Just forget it and just go with the 2d effects and just accept that it looks dodgy 😁

      @@zombeat7376 How about Davinci Resolve 6 which is free? It has a fusion tab that can do amazing things.

    Thanks for showing that can you make a video showing how to use section under view animation

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I probably could. It's often used in combination with size/position or other effects. It can also be used as a crop tool if free-proportions is enabled.

    What if the object you're tracking is not visible enough on a portion of it's path to be tracked automatically? Can you edit or expand the automatically generated tracking frames?

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can manually create keyframes for just about any effect but it's very tedious to do manual motion tracking and to make it look locked on.

    • @WinstonSmith1984
      @WinstonSmith1984 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      But can you do a combination of the 2. Imagine you have a video of 2 quadcopters flying that you want to label just as in your example, but one of the quadcopters disappears behind a tree briefly. Does it all have to be done manually then?
      B.t.w. thanks for the tutorials

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have tried it one time and had limited success. You can go to size/position and edit key frames but the motion tracking makes thousands of key frames which is hard to manage. Best to just trim your clips to remove sections that go off screen.

    • @birdseyeinc.341
      @birdseyeinc.341 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Couldn't you just have the label tracking the quad and have the label fade out just as it disappears and have that label end, than create a new label that fades in as it comes back into view. Just creating two labels at different sections when the quad is visible.

      I'm not sure what you mean by "the new update". Are you talking about MEP 2017?

    • @fishycomics

      Yes they did an update it changed the import/effects/text templete and audio.

    • @DaveMerc

      MEP 2017 has a much better menu layout and I like the new features. It's only for 64 bit Windows however.

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think in the older versions like 2014 you could export as animated GIF
      but the version I am using now does not have it. Too bad because it was a cool feature.
