The App is called Fishing Calender, Solunar in the Apple App Store. For those who are wondering it is a free app.

I check the lunar charts every day. I’m retired so I can pick my fishing days and times. I try to go when the chart is “good” to “excellent”, but sometimes I just want to fish regardless. I have had some really good trips when the lunar forecast was “poor” I have also had a few poor days when the charts were “excellent”. One reason, in my opinion, is that the lunar forecast doesn’t consider things such as frontal passages, water conditions, or temperature changes. That being said, I fish whenever I take a notion, but I always make sure to try to go when the charts are in my favor. Keep the episodes coming!

I've had a similar experience, and I'm retired too. My last trip was listed as 70% "Good" on the Solunar App, and the 2 hour window started around 11a. I was on the water at sunrise and had 1 in the Live well at 9:30a and around 7-8 by 10:30a. At 11a, the hogs started feeding -- I had a limit (25 in TX) by 1p and caught mostly 12-13" during the feeding window. I've also noticed that fronts coming through also have an impact regardless of the solunar table, and I've caught fish on a day when the solunar table said "poor". But, I will work to get out on the water if the Solunar table says it's gonna be good! I enjoy your vids Brandon -- thanks for sharing your knowledge!!

I'm a true believer in the moon charts. Been studying them for deer hunting for years and have paid fairly close attention in terms of fishing the last year or so but never put all my eggs in that basket. Can't catch em on the couch! Really enjoy your videos.

An old timer told me once if the cows are up and eating grass the fish are bitting too. If they are just sitting around the fish are not feeding either. I think that matches the soluner tables too.

For many many years I have kept records of using the Solinar Tables. The Major & Minor feeding times of Bass & Crappie. They Definitely work for me.
The periods of the New Moon, First Quarter & Full Moon Phases are the Best parts of the month.
The Last Quarter Moon is the Toughest of them all.
Barometric Pressure is something to keep records of also.

Those Itty Bit Slab Hunt’R jigs are the ticket right now. Walked into GTO the other day after getting skunked from the bank and got me some in Monkey Milk. They can’t resist the little tail action these jigs have. Thanks for the awesome videos!

I have been a big believer in the solunar tables for 50 years. Stabilized weather will make these tables very accurate. Approaching storm fronts usually make the fish feed early.

I agree with you and everyone else on the lunar tables. would like to learn more, keep the video's coming. Would like to know what your thoughts are on wind direction. I have heard it's better if the wind is out of the south. Do you keep track of the barometer preeure?

ive been following the major feeding times on bass forecast app for three months now .i was on the very same lake yesterday and found a school of spotted bass in 25 to 30 ft and caught a bunch in the major feeding window then they just shut off .

Brandon....like you, I have studied the lunar cycles for many years. For the most part, I believe the position of the moon and the cycle of the moon do have effects on fish. I see it more so down in the gulf of Mexico then I do here in north alabama. Like you, I thought the light bulb went off and then all of this information that I had packed my brain with kind of went out the window. This is what I have come up with. Lunar cycles do have major impacts on feeding cycles more so on Lakes then rivers. I have been on Pickwick and planned my trips based on lunar cycles and have had success and I have had bad trips when I was following peak feeding times based on the lunar cycle. For example, I feel lunar cycles would have more effects on lakes like Champlain or lake erie. On river systems like the Tennessee River, I feel like the lunar cycles have more effect on Lake Guntersville then Wilson or Pickwick. I do know this.....on Lake Pickwick and Lake Wislon the lunar cycles have less effect on feeding times. What does have major effects on fish in these two lakes is CURRENT! As I stated earlier, I have planned my trips to Pickwick looking for trophy smallmouth and although the lunar feeding times were at their peak I didn't do very well during the windows of feeding times. What I didn't have that day was current and I think that had everything to do with it. You already know this but fish are still there and can be caught but when TVA is not releasing any water, the fish spread out and don't set up in their normal areas such as current seams and current breaks. As fisherman, we always try and learn and put ourselves in a position to have advantages over our competitors and increase our chances when targeting trophy fish but even with all the data out there at our finger tips it will always will throw us a curve ball. On your home Lake which is Tim's Ford, I suspect lunar cycles have much more effect on fish due to it being a deep lake and not having much current. I know one thing, as a vetran smallmouth angler, I have come to the conclusion that sometimes I out think myself. You might disagree with me for what I am about to say but if had to pick one thing that effects fish the most it would be severe fronts coming in. Back in 1989 my fishing partner who taught me every I know about targeting trophy smallmouth would only fish the severe fronts coming in the month of December. He would time the sever fronts perfectly coming in every year and sometimes we might fish 2 trips or we might have 8-10 trips but Ken would not fish Pickwick in the month of December unless there was a sever front coming in. Keep in mind we were not pre-fishing for a tournament or fishing for fun...we were targeting world class trophy smallmouth. Ken use to explain to me that there are fronts and then there are severe fronts and those were the ones he would pay attention to. In 1989, the day the tornadoes hit airport road, Ken had been watching the weather models for over a week. The day before he called me and said be ready at 3 am becausea we were heading to Pickwick. When we got to McFarland that morning the temp was 72 at 520am. Keep in mind this was December. We finally got down to Kogers Island and as we were fishing the wind was blowing from the south west and although we were catching fish it was just another average trip. About 1240 that afternoon Ken looked back to the west and said get ready. The wind all of a sudden switched direction and now it was coming from the north west. About that time Ken's weather radio went off with a tornadoe watch and the skies started getting really nasty. It wasn't long after Ken said get ready the first fish was netted which was a 6.11. We sat there at the down stream side of Koger Island and in 2 hours we had a 5 fish stringer that weighed almost 28 pounds. As quickly as the bite started the wind kicked up and Ken said it is over. It wasn't long after he said that the bite shut completely down. The temp at the end of the bite was 54 degrees. And dropping. By the time we made it back to huntsville from McFarland boat ramp the tonrando hit airport road and unfortunately ended up killed 22 people. By 7 pm that same day it was snowing in Huntsville. That particular front was the type of front my freind Ken would target and pay attention to. I do pay attention to lunar cycles especially when I night fish or a lake that doesn't have a lot of current but I pay more attention to weather fronts and TVA's water release data. I know in your case lunar cycles are important when "fun fishing" but you really can't follow the lunar cycles when tournament fishing. The lunar cycle might not be the best the day of the tournament so you have to go off of instinct, knowledge and skill. It would be nice if you could inky fish your tournament when all the "stars" were aligned but unfortunately you dont have that option! Thanks for sharing this video. For some, it might get them to think out of the box and open up other opportunities. I know one thing....in the 55 years I have been fishing and targeting big smallmouth and crappie I still get humbled more often then not. That being said....I have had trips that most people wouldn't believe....fortunately I have mounts and pictures to prove it!

Yes sir in a river system current trumps everything. Weather system’s definitely play a big role as well. What’s your biggest smallmouth out of Pickwick?

I had that same "tornado" experience on woods reservoir..
Fortunately (for me) the tornado stopped about a mile from the lake, after starting in northern Alabama through Fayetteville..it stopped on utsi road..
But my experience was while the wind was out of the south the fishing was nuts, but the wind changed and everything stopped..
The shad were gone and of course the fish..

I have definitely seen solunar times make a difference. Ive seen it make more of a difference during stable weather days where the weather is consistent all day. I still think a weather change during a day trumps the major and minors like wind or clouds picking up or pressure drop.

I track them religiously because I need every advantage I can get because I can't afford expensive electronics. Barometric pressure, feeding times, wind direction and solunar tables. Never found them to make any difference at all.

I use the one that use to be it the back of fishing magazines, it's an app now.
It seems more accurate in spring fall and winter..and only on full moons in the summer at night with small mouth.
    That's been my experience..
I WISH!! I could use it to pin point what and when it is crawdads are doing when you get to the lake and notice them all over the banks...
I've tried to line that up with the "signs" on a co-op calendar and I can't figure it out..
My grandma used all that stuff for everything, from sauerkraut to cleaning fence rows, and in my 12 yr old wisdom I thought she was nuts..
But after she passed I realized she was correct.

I have watched tons of the live streamed bass tournaments the last several years. It is absolutely proven to me that there are peak feeding times. Its like most of the field either goes through a lull or the whole lake comes alive and every body starts catching them.

I think it’s most accurate on a poor to fair day when the pressure is high and they’re not very active. There feeding windows are going to be shorter on these days.
