Such a glorious shoe, the Sen 8. Perfect - perfect! - for tempo runs up to 10 miles. Perfect because of the (non-carbon) rods, which render the ride smooth, propulsive but not stiff. Laces are finicky indeed but the foam is sublime for its intended purpose. God bless! Thank you for your reviews.
Agreed Fordy, they’re not a £170 shoe! I got mine for £120 when the discount codes worked on them. As a 16 min 5k runner I love these shoes. Much prefer the lightweight nature of them, the ground contact feel. They remind me of an old school racing flat. I’m going to take them up to the half marathon distance in a race and see how they perform…
Hey Fordy, updat on Takumi Sen 8. Trafford 10k this morning in 32:37, felt really snappy. Pleased with how they performed, legs don’t feel too battered. Would definitely recommend, probably not at the retail price though still. Hope this helps others thinking about buying them 👍
Hmm, ran some sub 17 efforts in the Pro 2 and I loved that shoe. First time under 17 in a decade. Picked up the Takumi Sen this week and giving it a go in the Gasparilla 8k tomorrow. The thought being the lighter and more flexible shoe might deliver higher cadence than a marathon shoe. We'll see
Ordered the Takumi Sen 9 for about £120. Want to break the 20 minute barrier for 5K. First attempt was this morning in some Alphaflys that have over 250 miles in them. They have died really. Got 20:10. Hopefully the Takumis fit me OK as I do have a bit of a wide foot at the front. Ordered true to size.
Well, would it be fair to compare it to the Nike Tempo Next%? Considering a limited purpose (and less than limited cost) - yea it is. But how do they feel and compare in practice ?
To be honest I found the shoe disappointing in comparison to the Adios Pro, Next% or other high calibre racers. It would even be on the bottom of my list for a 5k behind the Endorphin Speed and Rocket X.
Chris have you reviewed the Adios 6 - would be interesting to do a comparison. I'm using the Adios 6 for short tempo and interval sessions, no carbon plate and light and the lower stack gives you more control over the shoe - Takumi sen 8 seems to be like marmite - mainly due to the price - seems very steep in comparison to other shoes that are way more versatile
I'm struggling to see how this is better at the track and intervals than the Adios 6. This has the same stack height I believe as the original Ultra Boosts whereas Adios 6 as the old Boston.
Thanks for another great review of the shoe. Not sure that I would pay £170 but looking for a shoe that I can wear for when I do parkrun, 5k etc . I do like the Nike tempo and the saucony endorphin speed
I was seduced by the colourway and a 30% discount! Looks great, but just doesn't work for me. Horrible to lace up and just doesn't handle some of the technical tight stuff I do for my road running. I did take it for a 20km and wasn't too beaten up by them. But just the design of the shoe means its a bit unrelenting focusing on your form. I just never felt comfortable.
Hi Fordy hope you and your family are all fit and healthy. I don't think the price of a shoe reflects on its versatility there's lots of specialist racing shoes that cost the earth Nike Vapour fly for instance. In my opinion this shoe is for the ultra keen good club runner looking for fast times. But if you are just a casual runner or jogger this shoe would be a complete waste of money and as you say lacking in versatility.
Adee-Das - not AdEE-das :P your cousins are wrong :P - amuses me that a "5/10km" has a similar stack to the original 4%...... 5/10km is the Adios 6 would be my choice, personal preference.
...btw I liked how you made distinctions in defining the shoe on both track and other running surfaces, I think that should be mentioned on all shoes as far as it's possible, gives a better understanding of the shoe, very discriptive reviews. 👍
Paid £170 used twice I seem to always pick something else over it, it’s a £125 shoe being sold at £170 adidas should be ashamed, £10 cheaper than the pro2 😂😂😂🤷🏼♂️🤦♂️

Glad it’s working out for you
got it for 80€. Had the first Run today. Not Bad. Have the same issue with the lacing and laced it the same. Have a nice day!!!

Is it better to get spike shoes for the track or are regular shoes like this are good?

How did the 8k go?

Reporting back. Little bit tight but no issues! Did a 7-mile run and was pleasantly surprised by the fit.

Interesting fact … video coming up of a 5k challenge … guess which shoe I actually wore ???
@@FordyRuns the "loud &clear" ?

I’ve not mate mainly coz adidas never really worked for me but I’ll check out thanks
Not keen on the shoes, but I want those shorts. What are they?
Just some cheap Nike ones from sports direct

I think I need to try out the 6

Think I’ll wait for the Streakfly 🤙🏽

with you as said for the everyday runner .... don't bother
Fair review - It’s a niche shoe.
thanks bud yep 100%
