    Great comparison Alex, thank you. Managed to get TS8 for £119 (similar price for Adios6) and it will be my racing shoe. Adios 5 for speed workouts and SL20.2 for easy runs.
    Looking forward to trying out TS8

    Great review ! Aside from my own negative thoughts, it definitely convinced me to skip the Takumi Sen and spare some (quite a lot actually..) money and wait for more reliable/useful options in a near future. Didn't actually reject totally right now, because having positively tested 5 different Adidas shoes in this year, the Takumi was without any doubt a long awaited and coveted desire to fulfill.

    I'm 60KM in on my Adios 6 (mostly treadmill), but I really like the inherent stability in the shoe with the regular Lightstrike and torsion bar. But when my cadence gets into the 180+ SPM and I really start to hit the Lightstrike Pro the shoe really comes to life. I don't see myself feeling the need to even try the Takumi Sen8, I'll just keep on using my Endorphin Speeds.

      Great comment, Tim. Adios 6 and Endorphin Speed is a fantastic 2-shoe rotation and when something works, no need to change it indeed! :-)

      Oh that's funny, that's what I have also. I was looking for something to rotate against my Endorphin Speed v1 and have really liked the Adios 6. It's really nice on the road and the grip is amazing compared to the Endorphin Speed. The Endorphin Speed's bounciness is hard to beat.

      @@Mo-rl8ue Personally, the Endo Speeds. Anything slower than marathon pace, I use either my Mach4's, or if I plan to alternating faster paces with slower recoveries I might use the Adios 6. Or any day I having inner shin discomfort, I'll use the Adios 6 since it's so good at preventing collapsing in on the medial side. And as previously mentioned, Adios 6 is my go to treadmill shoe.

    Spot on, for me the Sen 8 has more pop in it, no doubt from the rods and the better foam, made it a fun shoe to run in.
    I had to back off on the downhill sections, felt like I was going to fall face first, they were pushing me to go almost too fast.
    The Adios 6 whilst nice is just a daily beater, for when my legs feel fresh.

    I love adios 6 over all my plated shoes for easy to interval runs. The whole ground feel is superb. Adios 6 feels closer to peg turbo than any other shoe. I'm on the heavier side but I still feel the cushioning is more than enough, specially for midfoot strikers.

    I recently picked up Takumi Sen 8 and Adizero x Parley which isn't very common but seems to be built on the Adizero 6 platform with a few material adjustments due to the recycled plastic and whatnot. I've been an Adidas runner for years (used to be Ultraboost and eventually transitioned to Adizero Pro and then Adizero Adios Pro, amongst a few others). I'm generally a shorter distance runner, I usually do 6 or 7K but will generally range from 5-10K depending on my schedule and how I'm feeling. Honestly, both of these shoes are so close to call due to variations in the feel, responsiveness, and springiness and I couldn't quite make up my mind on which one to keep. When looking for reviews, I stumbled across your channel and though I'm usually a little skeptical of some user video reviews, you knocked it out of the park - lots of great, in detail metrics and I also loved hearing your more personal impressions of the shoes. Great video and I'll definitely be checking out some of your other stuff, keep it up!
    Ultimately going to keep both pairs, the Parley for quick sprints around the neighborhood and the Takumi for 8-12K range in the park :)

    Nice review! For me the Takumi is THE shoe of the year. I've waited a long time for adidas to finally bring out a shoe that is perfect for me. The last ones were all good, I love the adizero pro and the adios pro, but the fun I had last in the adios 4 is only now back in the Takumi. Probably also because of my "special" way of running. And - the normal Lightstrike foam sucks.

      @@AlexFilitti I have mild scoliosis, which is why I put my right foot on the floor differently than my left foot. The longer a run lasts and the concentration decreases, the more pronounced it becomes. I actually have zero problems with adidas shoes, unless they have normal Lightstrike foam in the heel area. Can therefore only run up to 10 km with the adios 6 or the Boston 10 without problems. Hoka shoes somehow don't work at all, Saucony Endorphin Speed or Pro are pretty good for that. And it works best with the Takumi. more stable than the adios pro and therefore also suitable for slower paces. The cushoning is perfect for me. Think I could even run a marathon with it. But I have to test more for that.

    I'm a little late to this party, but the comparison is spot-on. I recently bought both shoes and so far, I am favoring the Adios 6 over the Takumi Sen 8. I normally wouldn't pick up a shoe like the TS8 since I don't race, nor am I doing anything that requires one of these "super shoes." I happen to find one at the Adidas outlet nearby and they discounted it by 50%, so I couldn't pass it up. That said, it's probably going back. The shoe fits considerably longer than the Adios 6 in my normal size 11. The toe box in the the TS8 is wider, but not so wide that there is too much room. The TS8 also has a narrower midfoot. Neither shoe is heavy, so weight wasn't a concern. The Adios 6 feels more stable, thanks to the Lightstrike foam being firmer than the all Lightstrike Pro midsole of the TS8. The TS8 wasn't unstable though; in fact, it's easily the most stable of the Lightstrike Pro models that Adidas made. In the end, the Adios 6 was a better overall fit (and cheaper) than the TS8.

    Interesting what you said about running power. I don't have a power sensor but when I ran in the Takumi (only one run so far 1 mile warm up, 5km tempo, 1 mile cool down). My average pace for the whole run including the warm up and cool down was 7:04 whereas my average pace on the same run previously was around 7:15. My average HR which I measure using Polar Verity sense was 156 whereas on my previous runs which averaged a slower pace my average HR was 156-158. I felt this while I was running that it kind of just felt effortless and I was hitting paces that I haven't been able to hit in a long time (I took a break from running a few years back).
    And yes, I loved them so much I have already ordered them in the indigo colourway as well 🤣

    You are getting close to my dilemma in giving separate score to different parts or skill of the shoes. There will be always that "something" that will stands outside the scoring system and that will push us to reach for some shoes even if the score system seems to suggest that we are chosing the weaker one. I think the most inspiring shoe reviewer are the ones that can connect on that and produce a storytelling about that hidden side of every shoe model.

    • @AlexFilitti
      @AlexFilitti  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a lot for sharing, Alberto. I agree the scoring system is flawed by nature but I'm trying to keep it to ensure consistency over the various battles and reviews. I share your view on the idea of "story telling" the secrets of a shoe...not easy to do though :-)

    @leonal2680 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I believe that advertising the Takumi Sen 8 (or any other shoe) as a 5-10 km racer by companies is nothing more than a marketing ploy. As I've found out you can use your marathon shoe for that distance and run faster than these 'specialised distance shoes'.
    To back this up on personal testing both the Adios Pro 1 and the Next% are faster at 5 km than the Takumi Sen 8

    • @AlexFilitti
      @AlexFilitti  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At least that way around I believe you're right. Shoes marketed for 5/10k may not be the best marathon shoes though. I really like the fit of the adios 6 at size 10. So I have ordered the sen 8 in size 10 in the hopes it fits me better then the pro 2 does. So basically I am replacing the pro 2 with the sen 8. @@leonal2680 Maybe in the mid foot and heal, but people are saying it is wider up front. Where the ball of my foot is, rubs against the edges of the pro 2. The Sen 8 are unavailable in retail stores in Australia. So I have ordered it from Adidas online. I will just have to return it if it doesn't fit. Which is a shame but no other way to get hold of it and try it. The pro 2 situation is annoying for me. As I actually found I could run quite fast in it for the same effort compared to non-super shoes such as the Adidas ultra boost 21. Adidas shoes usually fit me the best, so that is why I am trying to stick with Adidas. I do have the Nike vaporfly 2. But I don't like training in them. I like to save them for max-effort training or race day. The Adidas pro 2 was suppose to be a training shoe for a decent training pace but not all out. All the negative reviews of the Boston 10 put me off even considering that shoe, maybe that was the right shoe for me haha.

      @waynecanning7471 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlexFilitti I have tested the Sen8 and it being a wider at front of shoe makes this a really great fit for me. I wish I could get AP2 in the same fit as the sen8. As I suspected the Sen8 at the front of the shoe is similar to the adios 6. But the sen8 is much more narrow fit at the back of the shoe compared to the adios 6, which means you can go much faster in the sen8 than the adios 6. This is why the vaporfly 2 works for me, as it is also is wider at front of shoe.

    After 3 runs on the adios 6 i already lost the fun…the midsole is too hard for me and the overal upper fit not forgiving enough for my slidly wider foot…..as I mentioned in my last comment, I’m still waiting for my wow Adidas shoe…..for now I swear on my new balance and asicics shoe rotation….and by the way, I totally agree with you that pro and over pronation will treated to serious as a almost not existing problem…I ren for many years with support shoes….and I lost in the same time years of real and funny run experience from neutral shoes….in the meantime a run only in neutral shoes, even with my over pronation problem…..result….my ankles are stronger and my personal performance increased from alone…..!!!

    Hi there. I am looking for a training shoe that has lots of lightstrike pro. I was tempted by the Boston 10 but it is too heavy. I did like adios 6 but then again I wish I can get the hole sole with light strike pro. I am an amateur runner with 66kgrms and i tend to only train 5k, 10k and half marathon distances only. My 5k time is 20.39. I have new balance 1080, tempo, new balance xc7 crops country shoe and the rebel V2. I am looking something similar to the rebel V2 in terms of versatility.

    What pace/effort are you doing the tests at given the Takumi Sen 8 is supposed to be an out and out 5K/10K race shoe and the Adios 6 more of a lightweight trainer these days. Be worrying if the Takumi Sen 8 did feel "best" at race pace and going slower well does it matter. Also with the Stryd (I presume?) power difference have you checked if the Air Power component largely accounts for the difference so not a "real" difference as I have found that part can vary a lot just between shoes even in the same conditions. Otherwise I never found much of a difference between power in different shoes at the same pace.

    • @AlexFilitti
      @AlexFilitti  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For consistency purposes in time I always do these tests at 5'00 min/km (easy) and 3'30min/km (more between 10k and HM pace, but now in off season it almost feels like a 5k effort haha). The results I shared here are the ones at 3'30 (because of the nature of these two shoes).
      Power here comes from the Runscribe pods and not the Stryd, and the RunScribe do not have the airpower component. I tripled checked the results but given the gap in efficiency I'll likely take the two shoes on a treadmill to have another set of data to look at.

    Sadly disappointed in both shoes 😕
    I think as soon to be 56 year old heal striker neither shoes suit
    Spoilt by the tonnes of light strike pro in the AAApro2 and Prime X 😊

    PS just been out for a lactate Threshold Test in my lovely new teeshirt from Belgium 😁
    Great fit and feels top quality 👍👍👍

Not many people measure lactate and I love using that tool with my athletes!

    Hi Alex!
    I'm hesitating between these two shoes and other similars like the saucony endorphin speed 2 or the asics magic speed.
    I need a durable shoe to use it on my fast days (2'50 - 3'30 min/km) on track two days a week. I'm a middistance running (1500m - 5000m). My weight is 57kg and I run with the forefoot.
    Thanks! Great video!

    the 18 Watts difference is not necessarily reflecting true efficiency, I have observed power output registration difference in diverse Carbon shoes, the Nike vaporfly Next% (2), Saucony endorphin pro, and Adidas adizero pro. with respectively in my efforts 10, 10 en 20 watts of difference compared to regular shoes (at same pace, route etc). This does not reflect effort but just an interference with power registration by the Stryd in my case. The adizero pro would be very efficient in that case, but my senses tell me this is the wordst shoe, I even prefer a shoe like the adios 4 over that shoe.
    I also have carbon spiked plates but they dont show this power deviation. For now the Next2% only slightly better than endorphin pro (at faster pace), adizero is a no go for me, the takumi sen 8 is on its way to me, so cant tell anything yet.

    • @AlexFilitti
      @AlexFilitti  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing, Patrick. For these tests I'm using the RunScribe pods (one per foot, calibrated for the specific shoe right before the test) so while you're correct and all of it cannot be attributed solely to efficiency, I do believe a large chunk of the 18w are still coming from that. Thanks again and looking forward to your thoughts (and numbers) about the Takumi Sen 8

      @@AlexFilitti thx for the insights, yet I consider 18 watts in running effectiveness (REff) would be huge. if your Critical power would be about 300-350 watts this implies a huge increase in REff. There would be only one way of testing properly and that is doing a critical power test. The measured data and the calculated CP will show whether there is really an increase or a influence/difference of registration.
