Because of boredom I did remove the roots one one and took mo 4 hrs -_- I stopped doing it one by one when my body ached already. I regret doing that. So for those who comment about the time it took to do that i tell you 4 hrs. If i did not stoo the one by one root removing it might took me more that 5 hrs. Today is the 6th day of my mung bean sprout. It's 5-6 inches tall not includding the roots and i grew it in a 11x4 inches steamer pot. So as you can imagine the quantity. Will never do that again hahaha. I just did it out of curiosuty and boredom. But I found out that it also has a pros like there are some individual mung bean sprouts that are dark brown which is bad for other healthy sprouts.
Thanks! I didn’t realize how much work is required to get the sprouts looking pretty. I also heard the hard outer hull of most beans is what gives lots of people indigestion.
Me eating my own first time fried bean sprouts while watching this😂 nope, we never remove the end and the bean. It should be eaten together. Well, different ppl has different idea. Well-done!
Abi , I think you can eat the bean hulls (seed shells) if you want more fiber. But while in China, they always had hulls removed. More attractive, I guess. Some bean hulls contain “anti-enzymes” which make them indigestible...for instance, they could pass through a deer’s gut whole.
It ensures an even texture as the root and the tip arent as crunchy as the middle part. Fancy restaurants and old restaurants in china still clean them, also just for pretty. Once you clean them theyre called silver sprouts, but at home theres no point cleaning them, unless you want to impress someone.
Can you tell med where I can buy curry leaves in Germany? I am also looking for fresh bay leaves and the seeds of the basil plant. Biji Selasi is the malay name for it. Some biriyani mix would be fine too. I have some friends living in Leverkusen not far from Köln and they are visiting me this summer.
Hello Nyonya Cooking, ... Let's me introduce myself. I'm Wati from Jakarta, Indonesia. I've watched your videos. Like today...at this time ... I realy love your very simple recipe. Bean Sprouts with Fried Garlic. I'm going to make this soon. It's look like delicious recipe. Thank you for this video. Regards, Wati.
Your cookings are the best. Among all the cooking videos I've watched, yours is the one that's the most simple and easy to make. Thank you for this. I can't wait to make this dish because I love bean sprouts so much!! ^^
Good idea. You can try. If you want to be sure, reach out to our cooks on nyonyacooking.com. Leave a comment on the recipe, they will reply within 24 hours - Admin
Sprouted beans themselves contain lots of vitamins and nutrients. You can eat them if you would prefer to do so but I personally find it extremely disturbing especially when the long brown roots get stuck in between teeth. So, at home, we always clean them. It also looks more presentable :) There are always ways where you can grow mung bean sprouts without those roots. Of course, this cleaning process is not applicable to other types of sprouts like alfalfa.
When you said Ooooooomh! I knew it was going to be very tasty. so I must try it now. But I am not going to take one by one shoot and clean it as otherwise i will be all night at it👌

Sorry, but who has the time to "clean" the way you show?? It would take hous to do that. And that is the reason the restaurants don't do that. Also it is "bean" sprouts, so we only eat the "stem"???? Not practical, at all.
Yeah sounds great because I've got nothing better to do than spend 30 minutes pulling off little beans from sprouts. Restaurants don't do that because it's cost you $5 more for your bean sprouts if they did.
Hi there, you must be new here and are not aware that the term Nyonya refers to me and not the food. Most of the dishes I cook at not Peranakan related. You can read more about the definition of Nyonya and me here: www.nyonyacooking.com/about

Cooking with beautiful smile is so amazing taste 🥰
Thanks! I didn’t realize how much work is required to get the sprouts looking pretty. I also heard the hard outer hull of most beans is what gives lots of people indigestion.
I tried it, 15 mins removing ends and 5 mins cooking, was nice n crunchy with the garlic bits and bean sprouts.

Same! we eat the whole thing lol
But the whole point is to have that nice crunchy bean! I produce my own bean sprouts at home of course
Can you please try a recipe where you boil the sprouts longer and use them as a substitute for noodles?

Tried it and loved it, thanks for recipe
What the reason for removing the root of bean sprouts and seeds. Aren't the seed part full of nutrition?
Abi , I think you can eat the bean hulls (seed shells) if you want more fiber. But while in China, they always had hulls removed. More attractive, I guess. Some bean hulls contain “anti-enzymes” which make them indigestible...for instance, they could pass through a deer’s gut whole.

Is very simple, except cleaning the bean sprouts one by one. Looks very shiok though!!!
It's like.....popping bubble wraps :P
good to do in a traffic jam then ;)
time to pack a bag of bean sprouts in your next ride ;)
I've never plucked the beans sprouts before they taste the same. Wash them and remove the excess water then fry

Yum yum! I could eat a whole plate of this deliciousness! Thank you Grace.
Welcome Marie! Please do try the recipe :D
btw can use fried onion too
Why clean them??? By doing that you miss the nutritious from the root though...

I just wash them and eat the roots cause removing all the roots is tedious LOLOL
@@茶茶-v5l I was just thinking that as well

Hahaha, how long would it take to clean the sprout 1 by 1? 😂😂😂
We do it all the time. Not long, 20 min.
I always clean my beansprout too coz I can’t stand the dirty tails which is why I never ordered them in restaurants
❤❤❤
This is to ASEAN cooking what Spaghetti Aglio Olio is to Italian cooking: using only five ingredients, how well can you whip up a cultural delicacy?
Why no more new video ? 😔

I'm eating ramen and they put bean sprouts in here with mushrooms and stuff.....they didn't clean the bean sprouts ;-;
Marry me. I'll be your apron for eternity , will protect you from all the heat and filth in the world..i love you

Malaya Chinese
🍜
Cleaning bean sprouts one-by-one la-la land! 😅😅😅
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻
Removing the root and bean one by one has to be a troll 🤣
If you make your own sprouts no need for that. Lulz. Not only that we are removing tiny bits too
I "cleaned" the bean sprouts if and only if I cook 10 pieces/sprouts Hahahaha 🤣
to bad shes not single... Asian beauty right there... lol
y is it nyonya cooking

Nyonya Cooking d
gotta be bullshit asking people to clean bean sprout one by one
can we use other vegetable other than bean sprouts
Yes sure :)
Hi! can the sugar be left out?
A Tablespoon of sugar is a bit much I think. I'd cut it down to a teaspoon.
Why do you need to ask? You are cooking to your taste!
