That one inquisitor boss, who stood guard at the entrance, is probably the bravest and most resilient characters in the entire souls series. Guarding such place of horror. He fought us not because he didn't want us entering, he fought us because he want to protect us from what was behind him....
I was hoping that the dlc would have a nightmare fuel area. Glad to see they delivered and then some. To the eerie lack of enemies at the start to the mind flayers that patrol certain regions. To the fact you can’t even hurt them to the eerie music. This game managed to give us Lovecraftian horror without it feeling, “too Bloodborney”
People say this area is underwhelming, but I cannot agree on that. The setup to this place already is really weird. Catacombs are covered in almost complete darkness which is odd as it is. Then there's a bossfight on the... Outside? Depth of this Catacomb was enough but seeing weapon of Inquisitor immediately grabbed my attention. It was really similar to the thing this one dude in the trailer was impaled with. What was going on? Then the Abyssal Woods themselves. Not even Bloodborne creeped me out like this area. I've spend my share of time in woods and there's always... Something. Some birds, you can hear animals moving around. There's something in there, at all times. When forest goes silent it's a sign to gtfo as fast as possible... Sign of frenzied flame. Even goats are afflicted. Nature itself is afflicted. Water is full of it. Aged Ones roaming the area, praying on anything with a sign of mind. Teleporting to you in a blink of an eye only to flood you with Frenzied Flame. And then there's Torrent. He REFUSE to be summoned. This is even worse if you remember Frenzied Flame ending. Torrent cannot escape from you. We choose to get IT from Three Fingers. We're becoming what Torrent fear the most. And the whistling comming from the ring? Yeah... That's Torrent, crying out for help because his nightmares just became real...
I havent explored it yet but i think people are talking about the little loot there is in there but i dont know how much loot there actually is. But just from the atmosphere and just the vibe of the place i think this might be my favorite environment in any videogame.
Great area. Went into it blind reading the tomes that said You cant hurt it If it sees you its too late And being without torent. It all felt so correct. 10/10 fun
I recently find this place after defeating the inquisitor boss and holy shit this whole DLC is full of variety in locations and this one is my favourite for having a horror atmosphere also torrent being terrified and those messages warning you about this place never forget it never experienced again a moment when you encounter a new threat of enemies since Halo CE with the Flood in 343 Guilty Spark Also those enemies too giving me Winter lantern vibes from bloodborne i cannot wait to get to the end
