Used to fish there so many years back with my granddad, lovely times, had some nice bass there, I say nice, a few lbs or so, he had some larger ones over time but I had lots of small things, lots of ling and other bits. I was young but ill remember those days forever. Have grown in to a fresh water fisherman (he also came with me doing) and am now a full on carp fisherman which I have been for 30 years or so, travveling all over europe and the world blah blah, but i kind of miss the coast and broadstairs ramsgate and dover and maybe for old times sake will travel back there from where I live now in Germany, for a little go or two sea fishing again. Good video, enjoyed it.
Many thanks for your kind words and thanks for watching. I was a carp and freshwater angler growing up but i just didnt get thw buzz that i do from sea fishing 🤦♂️ strange really
Perseverance is the order of any angler. But I thank you on behalf of a lot of disabled anglers for pointing out another spot with accessible fishing. Hopefully one day I might be fishing alongside you and we all have a great day.
Hi greg you ok mate. Spot on fishing from the car mate . Yes weve had north easterlis for over a week. It blows strate in your kisser on the humber. I managed a small codling last saturday n a flounder the week before to save the blanks. All the best matey from grimsby.
You're doing better than me Carl! Struggling here atm. Busy with work and then no fish when I go fishing! I need these winds to swing round soon and change my fortunes! All the best mate
Great effort Greg. Maybe some strong size 1 hooks and slightly smaller baits would have produced something, but like most places nowadays, nights would be better.
Fair play for the video mate some wont record the blanks but that's fishing hey? Its poor everywhere mate but hopefully in a few weeks time the bream will be in along with the mackerel and bass so hopefully things will improve
Thanks for the video, Greg. I'm not going out until the westerly winds come in, so a few days time. The only con I can see about fishing there is, if there are cars all along there, you're casting over your own car i.e. your lead's in the middle of the road for an overhead thump! Other than that, it looks really good. Night fishing on a lovely summer's evening there, me thinks!!
Yeah I will definitely give it a go in the summer for bass. Could be difficult if busy but you always have the gaps between the cars to cast I suppose 👍
had the same amount of luck there a few days before you. Not gonna count the amount of blanks i"ve had recently Did finally catch a few pouting over Walmer castle way this weekend gone tho so hopefully a sign of thing to come 🤞
What a coincidence, I just tuned into YT and you fished the same venue I was at last night. The Western Undercliff is a chalk and cheese venue GSP. I rarely fish there in the day time as it is usually a blank, unless there is a westerly chop on the water. Night time is totally different, and I've never blanked there. Last set of spring tides I fished it once and had 1 decent whiting, 3 dogfish and 5 small Bass to 1lb, bait was fresh lug. Tried it again last night and had 16 tiny dogfish, 1 decent dogfish and 9 Bass to a pound and a half. Baits were rolled blacks and ragworm. My rigs are homemade 2 hook flappers (both hooks up). I find the further you cast, the more tackle you can lose, so I tend to just flick it out 10-20 yards max, as there is a slightly deeper water channel that has been created over the years from the wave action against the promenade. The venue can be fished 2 hours either side of high tide on spring tides, pointless on neaps due to lack of water.
@@gsp Thought I would give you an update from the western undercliff Greg. It's been fishing well for a couple of months now, with reports of 5lb, 6lb and even a 9lb bass caught although I can't prove those fish were caught. I can however say for sure that bigger Bass are there, because I was fishing 1 night and another angler turned up, 15 minutes later I heard a lot of shouted expletives coming from the angler, he had hooked a big fish and lost it at the wall, he didn't have his landing net at hand so tried playing it to a set of steps with a hand rail, but due to the heavy swell that night the fish went through the railings and snapped him off. And I had a new PB for a bait caught Bass last set of springs, 4lb 3oz. Night time high tides with a SW wind seem to be the key atm, with any other direction being far less productive. I don't cast, I just underarm flick my rigs 3 rod lengths out. I don't mind letting other anglers know when a few decent fish show up as I enjoy chatting with them and if it helps another Angler snag a decent fish, then I'm all for sharing my experiences. Plus more anglers fishing means the more chance of lost tackle, that I can grab on the next low tide🤣. Tight lines
That's one of my local spots from since I was a teenager . More blanks than catches and super snaggy. Definitely better at night but head to the end away from the terminal .!
There is loads of parking, all the way from the tunnel entrance to the ferry terminal. Can get bait from the tackle shop named 'Fishermans corner' located in Ramsgate town, opposite the east pier
As a now 65 year old fart angler, with loads of decades of experience (obviously 😂), Ramsgate has never been the hub of decent sea fishing in Kent, even before the cod decline etc.... I dunno why, and I mean no insult to Ramsgateartians or whatever they call themselves 😊 lol. On a more serious note, please would you urge your subscribers to actively join the petition & protest against the closure of the Admiralty Pier at Dover for fishing?.... The DHB (Dover Harbour Board) or whatever they call themselves, successfully closed the Prince Of Wales pier at Dover years ago, which was originally built for the sole purpose of providing enjoyment to the public (not to cross channel commerce). It appears that, with the Prince Of Wales pier success, the DHB thinks that closing the Admiralty Pier to the public & anglers is "OK" .... perhaps cos the revenue generated from angling is "piss all" to the other commercial mega £s it gets?? 😉 Thanks. We have to stick together ❤
Yeah I agree! I only saw this today on Kent online so I will put a post on my youtube channel in support of fishing continuing and try to encourage more signatures
@@danielfisher6501 that's a better way of doing it. I'm more into fishing abroad for sharks etc. That's "on the edge" fishing and really gets things racing
@@gsp that would be a great bend in a rod. With the added excitement of landing something that's capable of eating you. I've had a few thornbacks off minster so far this year. There from the shark family. The lame side of the shark family. Like pulling sea weed in. But beats a Whiting. Hopefully I'll have a sporting fight from a decent sized bass this year. It's what I'm trying for anyway. That and stalking carp with a bit of pike fishing in the winter. Tight lines
Better off at the tunnel end on the slip mate , also off the rocks at low water lure fishing for bass and flatties in summer
my dad was a fisherman out of Ramsgate, so much nostalgia watching at your vid, thanks man
