Did you know that Gillian Anderson would have been 24 in the first season of The X-Files? Meanwhile I, also 24, make videos about extremely minor, unplayable ancestors in an almost 20-year-old game. lol! Also guess who learnt how to do Cool Things like zooming and panning? There is only one correct answer and it is me! I have! So proud of meself x ALSO also - I have a tumbles now. Go follow me, because I post Very Good Content That Everybody Asked For, such as Mulder x Vidcund fanfics: tanicsims2.tumblr.com Thank you for being so patient because this video ended up taking literal months. Life decided to give me the middle finger but I have really shown it that I Do Not Give A H*ck what it throws at me... by uploading a Sims 2 video to the internet. Yahooooo Hopefully the next one won’t take a million years xoxo
It's shocking that in 2024 Sims 2 is going to be 20 years old. I love Sim 2 I've tried Sims 3 and recently got the free version of Sims 4, for me I have the most fun playing Sims 2.
To answer 'Who cares about the dead Sims who were never meant to be playable': 1. Since I was a kid and first discovered the premades' family trees I was utterly FASCINATED by them. 2. One of my favorite things in Sims 3 was having Sims who only appeared in Sims 2 family trees (like Simis and Jocasta Bachelor for example) be playable and I was so excited to finally learn more about them. It made some of them my favorites, like Darleen Dreamer/Matlapin and her parents.
The women of the grunt family are extremely different compared to their spouses. Likely that was an intentional concept between Mary and Mike not marrying. Kind of reminds me of Lyla and Buzz.
im one of the people who cares a Lot about dead unplayable sims - when i was a kid i used to stare at the family trees in the sims 2 for literal hours because i thought it was incredible that the developers cared enough to give the premades so much history, a lot of it subtly implied. this video gave me a lot to think about regarding mary melons, who i already theorize about quite a bit. great work as always :)
I always loved dead ancestors in sims games! the lack of dead ancestors in the sims 4 is one of the things that disappointed me the most as i am very intrigued by them.(Irma Oldie just because she's one of the only characters in the game being living (well not really) proof of an unused hairstyle for example)also just the thought they (partially) existed in some way I also kept looking at the capp and goth family trees for soooo long back then
I really like the idea of Mary being a surrogate actually! I think it really fits with Mike being a family sim and it’s very funny to imagine that Buzz's grandparents had a very non traditional sort of life while Buzz is very traditional and focused on regimented life and a strict focus on (very toxic) masculinity.
I love when they go above and beyond to add a bit of extra flavours to family trees. Including both ancestors and playable sims. Imagine my surprise for the first time when I discovered Betty Goldstein and Morty Roth were actually cousins, linking two otherwise unconnected households. I’ve always loved this game’s strong sense of community and interconnectedness amongst people, even reading through the memories of someone like Patrizio felt like such a roller coaster.
So fascinating! I always thought Mary was just caught as a victim of Pascal's mysterious deletion/remaking, but it turns out she has a couple of interesting curious (hehe) details on her own too! I honestly don't know what to think. Buzz's family was establish as a rather traditional and I imagine it had to go for generations past as well, therefore having his grandparents being unmarried does not convince me entirely - but since it was without a doubt intentional, maybe it was like you said. A "dark secret" family was ashamed of? Maybe it also played a role in Buzz's upbringing that he's now taking out on his children? It's honestly fun to speculate like that this is giving me a whole new perspective on the Grunts. I also didn't know about the notes for the translators, is there anything else that's interesting in regards to other sims or objects?
Just comparing the sims 2 to the sims 1 you can just see how much they strived to improve the game and add all these amazing features. I love learning about the ancestors and the lore in the family trees of this game, it is just so fascinating! I really adore the level of detail put into this game. I remember learning about Mary Melons' weird relationships in another video, but I never heard of the theory of her replacing old Pascal. I wonder if that may be why she has a neutral relationship with her partner, or perhaps they had divorced and they are no longer on good terms. I love the sapphic theories! I love the diversity of theories possible in this game, the mystery just adds to the creativity! Fantastic video Tanny, thank you so much. I really admire your dedication to covering so many aspects to a topic in such clear and concise way. You are just getting better every time you upload, and the audio was sounding great in this video. I hope you have a great day :)
I love Sims lore! Makes me feel like I'm a detective on the case 🕵♂️ I feel like you could pick any premade sim and you'd find something interesting. Honestly what you said about the Sims 2, is very true, you're right how much love it shows in the game originally, makes me want to play it, even though I don't have an intense nostalgia for the Sims 2, you've sold me on the game! Again!
I actually really like the headcanon that she was sapphic! :) I have a similar headcanon that Lolita Goth from TS3 was not Gunther's late wife, but rather, was Frieda's. ^-^ And this adds another layer to why Frieda didn't want to marry a Landgraab heir... she lost her true love!
It's so cool to look into the backgroud of this game. Also terrifying remember just how spaghetti coded it all is... Great video! Very interesting learning about this ancestor Sim, both in terms of lore and her technical background!
I think it's an oversight by the developers on the part of Mary & Mike not knowing each other. It's the one that makes sense the most, considering the other inconsistencies the devs made in other parts of the game & the limited mechanics of the game. They didn't correct it, maybe because the ancestors weren't supposed to be alive & playable, & thought that it didn't matter much.
We know from my dear Paul Dreamer that not ALL family sims roll the want to get married haha! This is a lovely video, such an eye-opening deep dive. There's so much more to this than I thought! Also the quality of the footage and editing is so good, it's incredibly impressive.
I had never really thought about hood corruption or looked into some of these ancestor sim's stories. I almost exclusively play with sims I make. Your videos have been super interesting and I can't wait for more!!
I made a recreated ancient strangetown and in my story, she was a famous singer who didn't like her marriage and abandoned her daughter and husband to buy a mansion, she has her last name because she divorced her husband
i recently found your channel thanks to the corrupted pleasantview video, and i'm super glad i did! i've been watching the corruption chronicles these days and seeing this new series makes me really happy! when i played TS2 as a kid, my cousins would always tell me that messing with certain things/sims was dangerous (like strangetown bella) and i thought they were just trying to creep me out but now i see that they weren't lying lol. i love hearing about both the lore and the technical stuff at the same time, and i'll definitely follow this and any other series you might prepare!! thank you so much for these videos :D
In My head she never wanted to get married, and her boyfriend mike always wanted to have a family *thats why she looks so modern with the hair and sunglasses and mike look like a traditional cowboy*, so she had an unplanned child and left mike taking care of her and went to live her life partying around.
Ahhh I love your lore explorer/corruption videos, I love your accent and easy to follow script + editing with clips from the game. I could listen to it for hours, including the technical stuff.
Tani I have a suggestion for a really good video and it fits with upcoming Halloween: The Tricou Family and their house "The House Of Fallen Trees" from Downtown. Every member of The Tricou Family died in various horrific ways. But that's just the tip of the Mt. Everest sized iceberg.
Mary looks like an archatype for like a woman on the run maybe they never got married because she wasnt suppose to get close to anyone in strangerville to protect herself and cut it off when she realized she was getting to close to him.
what’s so weird about this note in mary’s catalog description is that no other ancestor seems to have this. i’ve been trying to go through other ancestors but so far i haven’t found anyone else with interesting notes 😭 i’m gonna keep looking!
OMG YES! I saw her in a video, possibly even yours, and FELL IN LOVE. She looks so incredibly cool I am excited for this. And you dropped this when am about to play my buggy Sims 3 with constant errors too, bwahahah.
I have only been into the Sims as a computer game. I am 23 now, have been a "simmer" since I was 8 and I still play it. I managed to put together the full collection and I schedule Sims marathons to treat myself, usually when I celebrate something like finishing exams. I play about 6 hours straight with a podcast in the background. I usually do not use cheats, but I might speed up my sims ageing a bit since I am not playing so often.
Another sim that i find very intresting is hero monty, she had grandparents, that suggest that she suposed to be alive. It is also said that she died becaus of the feud between families. but how? MURDERED? in the shakespeare story she faked her death so mabe she left because she was tired of the fight between familes? so many possibilities

I’d love a video about Puck Summerdreams biological parents. His file apparently references them and there’s a storytelling picture of them!
Where did you read that? I can't find it when I type it in on Google and I HAVE to do research! 😍
Where did you read that? 😍
Arent adoption parents usually 2 random townies?

Mike Steel sounds very familiar.
Maybe he's somewhat connected to Christopher Steel from Sunset Valley too?
Maybe, like Nervous, Mary was ace, and Mike was just a kind donor for the kid she wanted.

@@tanicsims2 Did someone reverse engineer the whole source code or was it made public?
WHAAAAAT HAVE YOU DONE???
I haven't played TS2 for 7 years but before that I dedicated all my school years to this game. Now I want to come back 🤣
Imagine being a hidden dead sim that doesn't even show up in family trees
I wanted to watch this when it came out but our new rescue kitten basically kept me busy.
She has FINALLY calmed down so I can sit snd watch

OMG YES! I saw her in a video, possibly even yours, and FELL IN LOVE. She looks so incredibly cool I am excited for this. And you dropped this when am about to play my buggy Sims 3 with constant errors too, bwahahah.
