Your welcome bro. . .I am going to start music production journey. Going to receive delivery of launchkey mk3,launchpad x,sony mdr 7506 headphones,AT2020 mike & focusrite solo interface.
Nice work, Taetro! Can you explain what youre doing in the middle (2:00 to 2:14) with the buttons? Minor scale pitches. Just wondering how you did that. Thx man!
Awesome as always! Very inspiring for me as a beginner into recording/composing music, it's incredible the variety of sounds you get from random objects, keep it up!!
That's great to hear, thank you very much. Let me know if you find any of my other videos helpful and if there's something you'd like me to highlight specifically in a video I can do that too!
Hi Taetro. let me tell you that it sounds awesome. I am really new in producing and you really opened my mind to try new things like this on using the mic. I have a question for you, I hope you can read this. I am thinking of buying a launchpad and a launch control but i have no idea of how to sync them up. Do you need an extra software or can it be done on ableton ? Also How can I connect an external instrument to the lauchpad so I can loop the sound like you do with the mic.? I hope you can answer as it will help me a lot. Congratulations for your creations and cheers from Ecuador.
Hey Esteban, first of all thank you so much for all the kind words. It really helps me to keep going. Step one - The computer/software is the BRAIN so everything is being connected through the computer. Therefore, you simply connect launchpad and launchcontrol to the computer, Ableton recognizes them and they simply work - nothing crazy to sync. Step two - Computer = brain, Audio Interface = the heart. The audio flows in and out of the interface. For your external instruments you'll need an audio interface for sound to flow into your computer. This is the interface I use: amzn.to/2kNquGB Hope this helped, greetings from the US to Ecuador!
Thanks for your videos! I'd also like to thank you for putting the link to where to get this contact mic. I'll be ordering mine this week. I've hit the subscribe button. Looking forward to more vids.
Nice performance. I have a question; I am thinking getting a AKAI APC40 MK2 before Xmas. Do you think it would be better if I get Launchpad + Launchcontrol XL instead? Thanks,
well the latest launchpads (launchpad X & launchpad pro) have velocity sensitive pads and you can play notes on them, so thats a layer that the APC40 does not have
Hi Taetro, i know it’s been a while since this video was published (btw very impressive and inspirative😃 thks you!) but which effets of repetition you were using during the live at 3:09? Is that a Beat Repeat on a send effect? It also « pause » the others sounds, how do you do it?? I would love to know!
ohh yeaaah thanks a lot! i think it would be nice if you were doing a video where you explains the little interesting « tricks » that you can do on live😃
+Christopher Miller hey Christopher. It's a great book, more like something you reference less like a cover to cover read. Helps you through a lot of major roadblocks in music making. I talk about it a little bit in this video th-cam.com/video/RiGgaT3tcTs/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching!
Hey man i know this video was made a long time ago, but i only found it just now. I wanted to ask how you got notes out of the banging on the glass? Did you use the MIDI effect Scale?
Hey Miras - I actually used Resonator. So there were multiple instances of resonator, but only one on at a time (each a different pitch) as I hit the glass I switch resonators using the launchpad
I think that you refer to normal and pro. I have Launchpad MKII, the normal one. If you are starting, it's not necessary to get the pro. Yeah, it has aftertouch and other characteristics, but as I said before, if you are starting with them, think and don't lose your money ;-)
Hi Taetro! I've got a launchpad mini mk2, did I make a wrong decision with this one? I wanted to spare some money, but I'm not sure it was a good idea (after reading comments). Anyway, I love the mini and looking forward to buy a launchcontrol xl. Great video! :)
kertvellesy No, you didn't lose your money, don't worry! I have MKII and also Launch Control XL, and both are two extremely useful tools to make music.
no for sure it was a good choice! you can do most (if not all) the things I do this video with that one controller, you've got the pads for clips + drums and you can map effects in user 2 mode..it's a great way to start!
hi taetro, I have a question about this microphone, cause I'd like to buy one. is the sound I hear heavily processed? I mean I can tell there's some reverb, delay and maybe distortion, but other than those effects what did you use to make those objects sounding that way? do they sound like that straight away? to me the only one sounding "dry" is the drum loop on your cup.. thank you very much. this is such an interesting thing
the sound is TOTALLY processed, sorry if it came across like I was trying to hide that. I use Resonator to give the hits a specific pitch. But even though the sounds are processed, each object has its own unique timbre which gives it a distinct sound before the processing happens. The fun thing for me is taking those distinct timbres, and then processing them in musical ways because they are just objects. So I absolutely suggest you still buy one, just don't expect to clip it to a cup and have it sound like this. Instead, be excited to see what unique timbres some objects may have, and then experiment with different ways to make that sound more musical through processing. - just my two cents. Let me know if that makes any sense.
No need to be sorry, it didn't looked like that. I just wanted to know more about how you got that sound :) Thanks for clear explanations. I'm still going to buy one and start experimenting with it.
Just figured out how to do screen capture on my computer. I've got a lot of videos to make this weekend but I think I will make one explaining the Resonator technique. Keep an eye out!
This is the best of I've seen from you yet. I think I'm not alone in demanding MOAR CONTACT MIC JAMS

Is the launchpad and launch control directly connected to your laptop? (2 USB)?
Hi Taetro, i know it’s been a while since this video was published (btw very impressive and inspirative😃 thks you!) but which effets of repetition you were using during the live at 3:09? Is that a Beat Repeat on a send effect? It also « pause » the others sounds, how do you do it?? I would love to know!
Thanks! It’s a beat repeat on the master channel, or several different ones at different rates
ohh yeaaah thanks a lot! i think it would be nice if you were doing a video where you explains the little interesting « tricks » that you can do on live😃
Nice video dude, now I wanna add 1 or 2 of those Mic to my collection of gears :D
It's so worth it! They are so cheap!
❤️❤️❤️
dude, this is fucking awesome and weird at the same time
This looks fun and all but I'm still trying to figure out how to hook up my Launchpad Pro and my mic to Ableton and have them both work at all. 😭
How are these gears connected? Care to share?
that's really nice!
Thanks so much! I'm taking suggestions for future gear grabs if you have any ideas!
hey Taetro, what are your thoughts on that book you have by Dennis Desantis?
+Christopher Miller hey Christopher. It's a great book, more like something you reference less like a cover to cover read. Helps you through a lot of major roadblocks in music making. I talk about it a little bit in this video th-cam.com/video/RiGgaT3tcTs/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching!

can you explain the filters and effects for the mic in ableton, thnks a lot!! ;)
ok read Resonator but What others, fot the glass of water and the ball metals are amazing!!
+Edgar Mendoza I'll have to look at the project to get specific but definitely lots of reverb and ping pong delay!
i get it, thanks a lot :)

i want to buy luanchpad.is it very diffrence between the pro and RGB ? wich one is best for me?
I think that you refer to normal and pro. I have Launchpad MKII, the normal one. If you are starting, it's not necessary to get the pro.
Yeah, it has aftertouch and other characteristics, but as I said before, if you are starting with them, think and don't lose your money ;-)
