Doesn't sound nice but cheese graters work very well to remove that thick skin on the side/bottom of feet. I take my grater in the shower, let thick foot skin soften then use the grater to take it off. I've used 80 grit and a vibrating sander which works ok. But something about the grater. It will only take off the dead skin. After removing apply liberal amounts of tinactin. Thanks for sharing, nice video.

I used remedy soap, come in a blue bottle from amazon, a cheap scrubbing brush. Put some of the soap on the brush and scrub vigorously for 30seconds or so, making sure to get between the toes and on the nails. It cleared it in a couple weeks. I would also add foot powder for people with sweaty feet.

Great video. I have suffered with peeling of skin on Left foot for about 9 years. It started in the summer while I was swimming at camp. It has been coming back every year now. The prescriptions don’t work for me. I do have prediabetes, and reduced circulation in that foot.. This has been very helpful. I will try them. Thank you for such detail. It has been frustrating.

I fasted for 40 days just eating bread and drjnking water (for religious purposes). I noticed my toenail fungus clearing up never thought it was because i was was fasting. After the 40 days and starting to eat everything i used to it came back. I'm definitely going to start fasting again not as extreme as before but intermittent fasting and cutting down my sugars.

      Bread is sugar…
You probably got the advantages because your total calorie intake was likely lower just because its difficult to eat too much of the same food. But “fasting” and eating bread is not a fast at all. And in the long term, you’ll probably miss a lot of nutrients.

I was commenting on a thread about my athlete's foot problem. I've had it since the late 80's. I could never get rid of it. Then, I went to Ghana last March. I didn't treat my athlete's foot problem at all but after a couple of months I realized I no longer had athletes foot as well as a bunch of other aches, pains. I felt better generally other than having a stomach ache. I stayed until September 2023. I got back to the US and all of my body aches and pains came back immediately. But, 7 months later I have no sign of athletes foot! No medication since before went to Ghana. I though I would have it for the rest of my life.

This is for prevention: My podiatrist recommended that I use spray deodorant/antiperspirant on my feet after showers. It cuts down both on sweaty feet and foot odor. In turn, that reduces the chances of foot fungus developing. Also, dry your feet well and wear flip-flops when you first come out of the showers to allow your feet to fully dry.

What about potassium permanganate soaks? A podiatrist gave me some and I've been using it for 3 days so far but my feet still itch a lot, so much so that it wakes me up at night, I'm hoping it will work though.
He also told me not to wear the same shoes/boots 2 days in a row so I'm doing that as well.

My husband came with toenail fungus when I met him in the 90's; he's never tested positive for diabetes but it's also never gone away fully; pretty sure his really thick foot skin is also harbouring it. He's given athlete's foot to me too. I'm in the process of cutting out sugar and reducing carbs to try and impact the issue, while treating it with all the things mentioned and adding in essential oils as I find terbinafine doesn't work anymore.

Hey guys!!! I have been struggling for 8 years with toenails separating from the skin and getting fungus underneath. It started when I had chemo. Thanks for all the great tips here. Two questions please. Does freezing socks and footwear in the freezer kill fungus? When my toenail lifts off, should I cut off the lifted nail? Thanks in advance for your guidance. 😊

    • @DrTomBiernacki
      @DrTomBiernacki  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Tigerseye Heart, ouch, that is tough for sure! We really hope you feel better soon.
Freezer low temperature will not kill fungus. If your toenail lifts off just cut it. This way you remove moving toenail that is difficult to control in socks and while moving its edges may cut skin. Also skin exposed following removal of lifted nail is easily accessible for antifungal treatment.
Just make sure to see a podiatrist in the future if your problem continues.

@@DrTomBiernacki Thanks a ton for your advice! I'd love to see you guys, but I live in Spain - a long hike 😁.
Yes, I see a podiatrist, who has removed fungal nails regularly, but since the fungus keeps coming back I thought maybe it was the wrong approach.
The thing is I've been binge watching your videos for all my conditions and have realised my podiatrist has not been informing me of the many ways I can actually heal or at least significantly improve from my other foot conditions (plantar fasciitis, bunionettes and metatarsalgia). So I've decided to change podiatrists. Thanks so much for all your help. Wow!
Another thing that would be incredibly helpful is a video on how to cut a fungal nail. I can't find one on your channel or anywhere else on TH-cam. That would be awesome!!! Pretty please? 🙏😊

Sorry but I got this in a public swimming pool at the age of 7 and suffered with it till my late 20s. To the point I couldn't walk it was that sore, even going tk the toilet was a chore, my toes where bleeding I was crawling at one point to ease the pain. It's cleared up now but I've next to no move ment in my right big toe, it'll move but have to put huge amounts of strength and effort to move it and the left foot is not as bad but still hurts from time to time. I found what helped was it hurt a f**k load ( to the point I was crying and nierly passing out) was warm salty water and dry your toes nd make sure you get each toe it'll hurt like hell but in the long run trust me it'll help.

For years I had athleets foot every winter when wearing my winter boots. After showers I started adding lotion to my whole foot. Then I would just use the toe area of my sock and put vinegar on the sock. Then into my shoe it all went. Usually in just two to three days the itch was gone.

Alcohol has lots of sugar and will feed the fungus. I suggest you quit drinking. If you're drinking every day your life will definitely improve if you quit and get treatment. AA is amazing, out patient treatment is amazing. Getting tools to help you cope without needing alcohol will ABSOLUTELY change your life for the better. Good luck!
