    If I am doing an I cord cast on, I use double ended needles and just slide the stitches to the other end rather than having to transfer the stitches back. And I put a marker in each cast on stitch so I know exactly which strand of yarn I want.

      OMG THANK YOU! I have some short DPN's that I really love and did not think of this while spending extra time with my sharp needle, meaning I'm needing to watch I don't split my yarn in the change over, while awkwardly dragging my longest circular needle loop, which I don't need till I pick up the stitches across the extra long icord (starting at the long side of a shawl).
      I've only just started and you've helped me save some fiddly time.

    Thank you for your excellent videos, which I love! You're such a great teacher, and your voice always calms me and makes me happy. Your enthusiasm is so contagious and inspiring. I-cord cast-on is one of the few instances where I use double-pointed needles (two), because instead of moving stitches, I can just slide them to the other end of the needle, and knit the next row with the needle I just emptied. It just seems faster to me in my knitting.

    So I am wondering if this cast on could be done in stripes and instead of increasing, just knit in the round? Is it a bit stretchy like the I-cord cast-off??? I am making a baby sack and thought it would be a great start!

    I find it easier to use 2 DPNs and slide the 3 sts from left to right, while changing hands on the needles. That way, you can start knitting an icord from the very first row, which makes the icord even nearer.

  • @ConnyNordlicht
    @ConnyNordlicht 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very fine, I love it! But: to make it more easy and, btw, faster, I use short needles, DPNs e.g., while knitting the I - cord. Why? Cause: I can slide the stitches while knitting to the other side of the needle and knit along. It's easier, more like doing yoga or ommm while knitting. I'm a lot faster. What do you say about it? I knit with Chiaogoo needle set twist, the red one and the blue one. There are 2'' - needles. I put 2 with an adapter together so I can get a tiny, tiny needle. I only need one :) the other can be how long you have one, there you needn't slide anything. So my needle I've the stitches on are 4” and a few mm's. It needs less than 1/4 of a second to slide and turn the needle, I don't loose any stitch, and I'm as fast as the wind not thinking the I - cord cast on is so longlasting , NO! It's superfast and easy, too! I'm disabled in my hands so that doctors always think I can't knit anymore - but they say it since nearly 7 years. I can and I use every.single.idea. to make it easier. What works for me may work for others, too. So this is why I so full of words tell it to you. Perhaps you can show my idea at a short video? I'd be proud and happy to have helped to make wonderful knitting easier and amazing when it seemed to be a bit boring to do the same a long, long cast - on through. Any answer would be great, like your vids all are! With all my loving heart
    Tabea Conny L.
