Well Done Team Vegan, Well Done Josh and to your great support crew, great running. I will be toeing the line of The Thames Ring 250 here in the UK on the very day of my 50th birthday, 250 miles powered by plants!
@@KiwiBigfoot thank you kindly, I am considering capturing it yes, I only have a Samsung 10 with a gimble but might be able to piece something together.

Aww thank you for the comment. B.C is a lovely place. Spent almost half a year living near Metro town and loved it. Hope you are still able to be out and about to enjoy
@@KiwiBigfoot Wow, you lived there? I'm in a rural area, lush valley, big mountains-the west Kootenays. @@KiwiBigfoot I just saw this now. I was shocked this evening when I found over 90 extra comments. Totally unexpected. Not sure if some awareness could have been created there. It's a complex topic though. Sure, I will watch the video. I am actually about say 70 - 80% Vegan. Speechless after watching the video. Needed to skip through it. Too sad....!
@@KiwiBigfoot I've got plans for an ultra-only year: Tarawera 100k in Feb, maybe Northburn 100 mile in April and then hopefully The Wild 100 in December. I enjoy the trails more than the roads and find it a lot easier on the legs.
No salt? Interesting. Are you a person who sweats less than others? Was the temperature mild? Fellow vegan here who has a tough time without a little sodium during endurance events so I'm just curious. I throw some salt on my fruit when out on an all day adventure. I know the science tells us excess sodium is bad but too low is also bad. Those pizzas had plenty of sodium to replenish you, I'm sure!
We wouldn’t drink salt water from the sea, so why put it on our food? It’s a myth as far as I am concerned. Done 100km and 100miler no salt. Ha yes they do but I did not ‘need’ the sodium from the pizza. I just ate it for taste. It was hot as it was held in our summer. How did you have a tough time?
@@KiwiBigfoot The concentration of salt in the ocean is quite high. I don't eat any prepared foods, just fruit, veg, and legumes so if I don't add any salt I wont be getting any at all. Nor will I get much iodine and vegans tend to have low iodine levels, which is not good. I sweat a lot so without a little salt I can get get a little nausea, light headed, jittery, weak, and even a little cold. I think these are symptoms of low blood pressure. And keep in mind that sodium is necessary for its electrical conductivity.
Was that avocado toast near the end? I have my first 50k in a week... planning on packing potatoes and cantaloup but I love skratch products so will have some of those bars and electrolytes
Great video, you've inspired me to give it a shot!
