  • Adding the HNT26 to my inventory of chassis has been an awesome addition, super light with rounded edges its been comfortable to carry and dead accurate. Today we look over how its held up over the last 13months of being abused in the African Wilderness!

I think this chassis is perfect for what it’s was specifically designed for, which is a lightweight hunting rig. For anything else like long range target shooting, the other chassis are better, ess, xlr, ai, etc. but nothing of this style chassis has been done before that is this lightweight. This is the first of its kind made specifically for hunting. And I think it’s very good used for what it’s intended design. For competition or long range target, get or use something else.

If you're worried about the recoil, Australian Tactical Precision make an adapter to fit Limbsaver Pads to the MDT Chassis. The Airtechs are a bit softer than the factory MDT.

Thanks for addressing the wear on the carbon arca rail.
That’s one thing that was concerning me, but it sounds like a non issue.

Having issues myself with the quality of the carbon.
I'm a recreational hunter , have about 6/7 hunting trips and a handful of rangedays of use over 2 years.
Carbon is flexing and buldging around the QD rings from carrying in sling.
Carbon pistol grip cracked yesterday on my last outing. Just applying normal load pushing rifle into the shoulder.

Nice review. I have a couple of these chassis systems. My one gripe is I have a 300 win mag mounted in one and it is an awesome lightweight long range set up and my favorite backpack hunting rifle BUT I hate the only magazines you can get are the metal AICS mags. They are ridiculously heavy in 300 win mag. Really is a shame to have such a beautiful chassis where a lot of thought has gone in to shaving weight off to then have a brick like magazine as your only option! Wish they would either make plastic mags or at least skeletonize the metal ones

Yeah, the lack of vertical grip has been odd, seeing as that has become the standard for long-range shooting. Thought they'd have made one by now...it has been a year. Also, 100% understand the "old school" sling mounting. QD slings are better for cross-body wear and shouldering without taking the sling off, but the "old school" way is better for across the back. Still, seems like one of the best chassis options for a lightweight build.

My Tikka 6.5 creed HNT26 chassis only has 3 screws holding on the fore grip and I think it needs more screws because the fore grip flexes a lot. Like a half inch under heavy load such as pushing against bi pod or even carrying it with the old school sling. It will even flex up and down on tripod when its locked down. Not sure how long it will last with heavy use, other than that its a sweet ride. Thanks for the year review!

I am considering this chassis with a 24" tikka action/barrel. is the 3 screw configuration unique to the tikka platform? how is the recoil with the 65Cr?

  • @jw8042
    @jw8042 ปีที่แล้ว

I have used it for a bit over a year now, and I love it as well. However the only thing I don’t like is the enclosed forend, makes it difficult to mount a front mounted thermal or NVD without using very high scope mounts and my face form is such that then I will not be able to adjust the cheekpiece high enough.
Other than that i think it’s fantastic

Since the stock doesn’t fold flat against the rest of the frame, do you have any long-term concerns with stress or increased flex overtime at the joint where the carbon fiber meets the metal hinge?

You did a video a while back about Rob from lunkers TV and Nicholas Irving who claims to be a sniper, the video was about how little they knew and how poorly they shot
Irving just did an interview where he claimed if you missed someone with a 50 cal by a foot or two it would still rip a limb off which is obviously so far from the truth
I think you should find a way to connect with this guy and make a video where you find out how much he really knows or if he even was what he claims

You can't stop stupid, because a good mechanic would know what size of screw it takes. If they make the same size screw in a design that suppose to have different size screws, you might strip out the screw.
