Looks great, David. I love the new Willier as it presents as more of a pure climbing bike. Even the XXL, with a slightly shorter top tube than I like, would suit me. And like you; I would opt for the velvet red as well!
Really good review. Again like the Pino very over priced, I’ve just bought a lovely bike, about a kilo heavier with Ultegra Di2 for a quarter of the cost!! Will a late 50’s cyclist like myself really notice the difference?? But oh that “Hulk Green” colour! 😍 Probably not everyone’s cup of tea, but I love it. There’s just something about Wilier that no other brand seems to have? I liked the old one you reviewed with the “Adam’s Apple”. PLEASE David can you review your trusty Wahoo Roam 2 that you keep going back to? It’s in nearly every review.
Thank you for this test ! There isn’t many test about this beautiful Bike ! I’m can’t choose between this Bike, the filante and the sl8? Could you help me to make a choice? I’m leaving in the South of France. I’ve climb of 4-10kms to 10% max and I made cyclo like GF MontVentoux, Étape tour of France but I’m a person that like punch and research a Bike that can havé lire facilities in climb with friends but I like to go fast on flat too
A Tarmac SL8 also weight 6.6kg in size 56, but with deep aero wheels (roval rapide) or even 6.5kg with the new roval rapide team. The Wilier is still stunning and a great bike!
Nice review. Are you going to review the Bianchi Speciallisima RC, David? That's another Italian lightweight superbike I'd be very curious to get your take on.
I find that a stretch to imagine when it’s always the top tier 10k frames that have a wait list, while the cheap 3-5k stuff are aplenty. The new dogma F just released and there is already a wait list. It’s so bad that ppl even resort to parallel importing stuff because the new stuff are always in high demand.
I mean, that could be applied to any industry. There are people making very expensive things because they have very high costs to produce / engineer the best on the market. Then there are people coming to the scene BECAUSE they can sell very expensive things and not because they are doing something special. These companies are parasites. When someone pours their passion, design genius, and engineering into something then fair game- let it be expensive. But there are too many bike companies ripping off other designs and trying to ask for the same money...in this case- let it burn to the ground haha. But the world needs things that are awesome
@@yukiko_5051That's usually because people looking for cheaper versions will also look at discounts for the previous years bikes and second hand bikes of higher spec, whereas those buying top end, this year's model, maybe customising it, won't be looking at those alternatives
the tendency to include lights in the seat post - "for safety", no doubt (where's the front one, then?) - is disappointing in a couple of new bikes. Just another way to tie you into OEM products, I reckon. Still, the bike looks great and I personally love the color. I was holding out for a PR if not a KOM!
The aethos is still lighter and the ride quality is very similar but I'd have to ride both side by side really, I'd say the Wilier has a bit more stiffness when really putting down the power, and it of course has the one-piece handlebar for potentially a bit more aero
I feel like i should hate colour....like who buys a green bike .... its absolutely gorgeous.... would i be brave enough to buy this colour over other colours available.... not sure
Wow, Wilier does it again -often the most elegant lkg of them all. I think the Mkg dept. is getting a bit stodgy, so I propose they rename this the Mountain Do (Dew), lol, Dad jokes for days here :)
@@davidarthurnot a criticism of you my good man. I live in the South Wales valleys. Can't escape the vicious climbs - would be great to have some flat rides.
@@Cumberland_swasige no criticism taken just inviting you to come ride it? 😂🫣 you’ve got some beastly climbs round your wale, was grinding up some at the weekend in Gritfest 😭
The issue on price with Wilier is import due because they import their frames from China and have to pay a duty. Apparently Italy is now in China lol. Green handlebars look so naff. Handlebars and saddle should be black.
The S-Works Tarmac is the Porsche 911 of the bike world. They’re great bikes, no arguing that, but they’re not really exciting to me because they’re kind of everywhere. If I see one of these, it’s kind of exciting because it’s something different. Would I buy one? Nah but I appreciate that they’re out there.
My Cannondale CAAD 10 also weighs 6,8 kg but costs 10x as less as a modern race bike. It is also aerodynamically equivalent to an Aethos. I see no point of spending 10 times more money on a Carbon bike that is more fragile, harder to maintain disc brakes😂 those modern bikes need 30mm fat tires to compensate that stiffness! a rim brake bike with 23mm tire is almost equally as comfortable and much faster👍 I don’t see a dedicated road bike in todays bike industry. The bike is only as good as the person who is riding it after all, and good bikes are able to keep its rider comfortable so they can maintain performance.
Just complete malarkey, 23mm tires are significantly slower than 28-32mm tires (especially if the wider tires are on wide rims), this has been tested over and over again. Just because you're old doesn't mean the things you've been riding for 30 years are the gold standard, they're far from it. Ignorance is not bliss - refer to data not intuition. I ride a 2017 rim brake Supersix, I love it, but I'm under no illusion that I wouldn't benefit from a more aerodynamic frame with wider tires. Worth the cost? Not unless you're very well off or a professional, but the same can be said for Ferrari's, just because I'm not the target demographic doesn't mean it's existence is unjustified.
Comfort and Caad 10 on 23mm tires😂 Are you serious? This bike tries to dismantle your hands off your body on every hole😄 Stop believing all these pathetic paid/sponsored reviews/awards given to Caad series! Try modern carbon bike and you will try to get rid of Caad asap and for any money.
Nice, balanced review. The paint job is striking and gorgeous.
Thank you! Cheers!
I ordered the red Wilier Verticale for February 2025👍👍! Can‘t wait to ride it! 😊
Hope you enjoy it!
@@davidarthur Hope so. I‘ll pay 9000€ for it, with Ultegra Di2
That dark green stripe on the down tube tricked me for one second I thought this bike got external cables the 2010 style.
Nice formatting of the video, very slick.
Much appreciated!
Wilier bikes are so well made and just beautiful 😍
I know it doesn't really matter but Willier have THE best paint finishes.

Kind of like the green. Reminds me of a Cannondale I had years ago. It is a bit pricey.
A new Yamaha MT 09 (900CC) motorcycle is $10,600
Such a nice review David
A speed ball! Stunning colour...🎉
Never mind the bike, I like your off-the bike attire. You should do a vid about it sometime. 👍

50-60mm aero wheels on, and its one of the sexies bikes out there. the colour is insane.
It looked great when I put my standard 50mm deep test wheels on for a short while !!
Love it!
Great colour and am a fan of the Hulk!
We happen to be a Willier dealer as well!
I wonder what the trade price is? 🤔💚

How does this compare to the Addict RC pro?
I will never feel sorry for the bike industry when one day they struggle to sell their overpriced bikes.

the paint detail from the head tube to the downtube looks like painted-on shifter cables
Please let the green bike and question boards be a nod to the the old Top Gear Ford Fiesta test 😂

8:11 that camera makes your head look huge?
Gearing seems tough for a climbing bike - only 30 at the back right?
Did you measure that 6.6kg naked weight or is that claimed? If so that’s the lightest “real weight” current bike I’m aware of
Green for me 😊
You should have used the bike you reviewed the other week when you were beating PB's without even trying 😂🤣.

When will you be getting a Giant TCR advanced/pro?
Not sure but soon hopefully
hope it comes in other colors because that color will get old really fast.
Not sure of the tan walls on this bike. Very light though
The colour is spot-on, but I own a bright green OPEN U.P. so I could be biased. In fact I've had 5 green bikes over the years.
Nice 😊
Nice to hear what the bike weighs without pedals. Being an average rider like most of us. Thx

They sorely need to make an sl version for us mere mortals who cant afford a 9k bike 💀
I hate this new trend of having the handlebars the same color as the frame.
agree, like diffusers on cars look cheap
i hate it the other way around
😂😂😂What's outrageous is the price! 😂😂😂
Very generic frame design. A carbon copy of the Canyon Ultimate. Strip away the paint and nobody can tell the brand or model.

Hulk Green. More like Kermit. It is not to my taste.

Outrageous price. Hideous colours, what they playing at. Bike looks like an absolute weapon though fair play.
6.6kg is a very healthy weight, other bike manufacturers should pay attention. Did this bike accelerate any quicker than heavier bikes?
Acceleration is mostly a rim weight thing. light wheels will make any bike accelerate fast.
