I remember when one of the shittiest days of my life happend: my memory card broke. So I played the entire Crash Bandicoot 3 game on that same afternoon...and then I turned it of and I knew everything I did went to waste
I remember finishing every gta and Bully without an memory card. I had to wake up at 6 A.M and practically waste my entire day to finish it. I remember trying to do the same with Max payne 2 and dying near the final mission and starting all over. I was so fucking pissed off Thank God I played and finished it years later on PC.

The quality content of your channel is just absolutely amazing! I love your drunk, straight-from-the-heart writing and perfect presentantion so damn much. Its just such a shame my new favourite channel on youtube only have 79 videos, ive watched every one of them and watched most of them again. And again. And again. (And again)
We never had a rumble pack for our Nintendo 64, so beating Lego Racers and getting Rocket Racer and his car was once in a lifetime, because it takes so long to beat it. But once you do beat it, it feels like a legendary achievement I've only seen the end game cut-scene like 2-3 times in my life. But to be honest, having to replay the game over and over again to get the stuff, and see how far you can get without saving, kept us playing the game for years and years. I guess a lack of saving can add some serious replay value. Like the original Super Mario.
Actually, if you ran out of lives, in Super Mario Bro's 1, you can start at whatever lvl you were in when the game over screen came, if you hold A while choosing 1 or 2 players. It technically wasn't a save, but as long as you don't turn off the nes you could keep reloading with 3 lives at whatever lvl you left off on. Or you use the game genie to get infinite lives :p so saving was an issue on that game.
My copy of _Spyro: Hero's Tail_ stops saving after 30 minutes and freezes after being left on for a few days. I fuck around a lot and so I've never beaten it.
I remember back in Heartgold I forgot to save before Suicune. I came with over 100 great balls, ended up wasting them all, as well as all my timer balls. Had to catch it with a super ball.
Lines like "Dial up whatever girl Snake is aggressively flirting with" is one of the reasons I like this channe so much. The other is the Max Payne love. Jakey is pretty neat too I guess...
Nowadays the video will be: "Son, save and quit that already!" "MOM, YOU CAN'T SAVE AN ONLINE GAME, JUST AS MUCH AS YOU CAN'T SAVE AN ACTUAL SOCCER MATCH IRL"

I remember the first time I ever heard of saving in games or save data was when I had a friend over to play sonic adventure 2 and he asked me if I had saved data and I was like “ who the fuck is data is that a character?”
Majora's Mask is one of the greatest examples of not only integration to the world's setting, but also how saving can affect the game's difficulty & atmosphere. As you mentioned, most Zelda games allow you to freely save, while the only way to truly save your progress in MM is to play the song that resets the 3 day cycle/events/temporary items. So new players might feel stressed about it, to the point of avoiding the game entirely, even though you still have the power to save whenever you want if you're the kind of person that gets anxious about time running out. At the same time, saving becomes a big point of relief to those who want get as much done as possible. When the Final Hours music starts playing, the bell starts ringing, the ground starts shaking and that clock starts flashing red on the bottom of the screen, saving your hard-earned progress only seconds before the moon crashes is an experience that few, if any, other games manage to capture.
Every time I'm going through a hard time in my life I come and marathon watch your videos. I love your videos Jake thank you for helping me through some serious shit in my life with your amazing content.
So this video is ancient and shit but I still felt the need to mention Morrowind, where saving and loading is a literal canon ability your character has, and a god deadass tells you he'd rather not fight you because even though he could kill you a bazillion times, there's gonna be that one time where you figure it out and he dies and that shit is final. That's neat. I like that.
I couldn't sleep and am about to have a real hard day at work. This video cheered me up a bit and might have saved me from quitting/getting fired. Thanks Jakey
All of these videos are like timeless classics and they just bring you back to those times when you’d get up late to play a game when your parents have gone to sleep and he is the conduit for it
Looks/sounds like a Casio PT-1, but the red buttons on the right side (audience left) are throwing me off. @bluzyz, definitely not an sk-5, that's the pizza hut vid (also he uses an sk-1 in the beer vid)
4:41 holy shit you just unleashed a wave of nostalgia upon me. I forgot that i used to do that. I was terrified of losing progress cus i was a stupid kid
Dude! The bonfires in Dark Souls aren't for saving. Dark Souls is actually one of these games that autosaves every 5 seconds... If even say that Dark Souls is THE BEST game that autosaves every 5 seconds
Exploding Fish 8020 but not in the same way. It saves everything but if you die you go back to the last bonfire not to where it last saved like most games.
Judgemental2k What? No they don't. You can literally quit the game at any time and it'll start up at that point again. Bonfires are checkpoints nothing else.
Can we talk about Alien Isolation's save points? They take a couple of seconds to activate as you're character physically flicks a bunch of switches and you can be attacked and die during this so the tension of being stalked by the Alien never lets the fuck up.
Man i love his content. Everyone else struggled and is sitting there drooling WHAT DO I DO FOR A VIDEO!?! And this dude is like “IMMA make a video about save points in video games GENIUS!”
Saving two or three times just in case. It's all fun and games until you insert your cartridge the wrong way and it erases all the saves. That sense of dread when an old cartridge didn't work is unrivaled.
Make more Bloodborne videos. I just really like Bloodborne and really like watching you really like something, Especially when it's something I also really like.
*awesome video. I remembered the older games with the password system to save, but it was cool to look over all the different 'types' and the creative ways its sometime put into the games*
Alien isolation save points were terrifying because you weren’t instantly safe. And they were pretty few and far between. Also it’s just a really damn good game GOD DAMN I LOVE THAT GAME
Hey jake I recently watched this video and noticed inmiedetly how much I agree with you, you seem so genuine, honest, fun and just overall express yourself in ways where people laugh and can understand how you feel and it speaks to me so much on a level of never being able to figure out how to show that I share these vibes. I then watched most of your videos including medium, really touched by the deeper meaning of it and inspired highly by it, it sucks you can't go back snd fix things that happen and part of you know you except the choices you made and feel you have to stay positive and part of you knows it had consequences it leaves you torn but the heart you have to embrace it is amazing. Inspires the fuck out of me due to my life so I started making my own videos. Wish you the best of a life and I look forward to your views and experiences/vibes on games and music bro. This may sound confusing but hope you get what im saying man.
Its an obscure synth from the late 90s called a hing hon ek-001. It sounds like a stupid name because it is. Its some bizarre off brand chinese toy squarewave synth. And it looks absolutely nothing like an omni chord so no clue what that guy is thinking
When a game says it saves automatically so you quit without saving and you press the ok button too quickly to realise that it says “All unsaved progress will be lost.”
I remember when I had my PS2, I didn't have a memory card, so everytime I beat a level in Chicken Little, mama would tell me it's time to nap, but one day I left the ps2 on and I was so relived to see my PS2 was on...from there I got a memory card and little Stevie slept sound every night

it's a midi i think, so what vst he uses, that's the question, is it?
Disgustingly dope
I believe it's a Casio sk-5
Looks/sounds like a Casio PT-1, but the red buttons on the right side (audience left) are throwing me off. @bluzyz, definitely not an sk-5, that's the pizza hut vid (also he uses an sk-1 in the beer vid)
Glad I'm not the only one who was wondering, three of the notes he played sounded like a mix from DJ Hero 2
I love your videos. Cool song at the end. More, please
@skin09588Whatever you say, disabled person.
4:41 holy shit you just unleashed a wave of nostalgia upon me. I forgot that i used to do that. I was terrified of losing progress cus i was a stupid kid
Am pretty glad i found your channel dude, i love your content and you do such a great work keep it up my boio!!
"Hey, dinner's ready, bitch" gets me every time
Dude! The bonfires in Dark Souls aren't for saving. Dark Souls is actually one of these games that autosaves every 5 seconds... If even say that Dark Souls is THE BEST game that autosaves every 5 seconds
Exploding Fish 8020 but not in the same way. It saves everything but if you die you go back to the last bonfire not to where it last saved like most games.
that's what you call a checkpoint, not a save point
Judgemental2k What? No they don't. You can literally quit the game at any time and it'll start up at that point again. Bonfires are checkpoints nothing else.
Chad Mojito yeah the real save points can be found if you just quit and enter the game again.
very smooth, smart ass
Can we talk about Alien Isolation's save points? They take a couple of seconds to activate as you're character physically flicks a bunch of switches and you can be attacked and die during this so the tension of being stalked by the Alien never lets the fuck up.
You can save my point anytime jakey ;)
You knew dunkey was planning to make a video about this
damn the sheer nostalgy and general relaxed/everything is cool mah guy vibe coming from every video is so heart warming
The ting goes skrraaa
5:46 Bro that outro is crazy. Respekk!!!!
*Tubular*
Am I saying it right?
This is the first NakeyJakey video that ever popped up in my recommended 3 years ago. It's still just as good.
I like this comment.
Ok?
"kissy kissy flesh boys" what a brilliant term for zombies 😂🤣
*awesome video. I remembered the older games with the password system to save, but it was cool to look over all the different 'types' and the creative ways its sometime put into the games*
Saving before every légendaire battle in Pokémon like a thousand times will be my most cherished memory ever.
Jakey has come a long way god damn, ya boy looking handsome these days.
ITS MY BOY JAKEY WITH A NEW VIDEOOO
Alien isolation save points were terrifying because you weren’t instantly safe. And they were pretty few and far between. Also it’s just a really damn good game GOD DAMN I LOVE THAT GAME
The song at 0:49 is berlin-take my breath away
4:49 reminder that this is literally the plot of Morrowind lol
what kinda keyboard is that? i'm dying to have one after watching your beer video hahaha
Second
i wanna know too
It looks like an Omni chord
Its an obscure synth from the late 90s called a hing hon ek-001. It sounds like a stupid name because it is. Its some bizarre off brand chinese toy squarewave synth. And it looks absolutely nothing like an omni chord so no clue what that guy is thinking
Roman Mamus Actually it’s a Casio Sk-1 but the one you are talking about looks similar so they are easy to mix up
What's the song at 0:50 ?
'Take My Breath Away' - Berlin
Rub my balls away -Merlin
@@uknighted213 lol
@@coastyken7370 glad to be of service to you
That song at the end really hit home for me. Parents telling me to turn off my game while I'm trying to save will always be a part of my childhood.
You are really great dude, keep it up.
Jakey a chad for playing depraved in dark souls
The way you say "bitch" is so satisfying, i keep coming back to this video.
First nakeyjakey video i watched and still come back to it every now and then. A certified hood classic.
