- The journey to find the ultimate slug continues in part 2 of my comprehensive Slug Challenge! This time, I’m focusing on slugs in the 13-grain weight range, testing four well-known options:
NSA 12.5 gr
Zan 13 gr
H&N 13 gr
JSB Knockout 13.43 gr
In addition to finding the most accurate slug in this category, this test is all about determining how well these slugs perform in the 700 mm heavy liner of the FX Impact M4. The heavy liner is designed for precision shooting, and this test will reveal how each slug matches up to its potential.
To ensure reliable results, I’m using my refined testing method: shooting 16 five-shot groups, selecting the best 6 groups, and calculating an average group size to see which slug truly excels.
Whether you’re searching for the best slug for your own heavy liner or just curious about the results, this test will provide valuable insights.
This video is part of my FX Impact M4 Series, so be sure to subscribe for more tests, tuning tips, and airgun adventures!
Let’s find out which slug is the perfect match for the 700 mm heavy liner!
I will never skip a Viking Airgunner video. Another great one, mate. Cheers, from Australia 🇭🇲👌🏻
Thanks buddy 🤗 Best regards from WinterDenmark 🙂

Can't wait for the 20 grains 🎉
Excellent video, and even better shoo👍ting
Thanks buddy 🤗
Los mejores análisis de todo youtube. Gracias.
That is a big compliment and I really appreciate it - thanks buddy 🤗
Have you ever tried tethering your airgun? I'd like to see if it makes a difference, because it looks like your groups always start out strong and then open up as the session goes on. I know you get a few hundred shots but I'm just curious.
Thats a good and true observation👍
Even considered filming my warmup groups since there are often some very good groups there.
Tethering would be interesting to try - have actually been looking at the angled connector like a few days ago 😃
Also considered trying a Huma reg. Have the reg, so just need to install - and ofcause making a video about the swap 😇
Thanks for noticing and sharing mate 🤗
@VikingAirgunner Well, thank you, and I'll be waiting for that video.
Hello, I want to congratulate you. Making this kind of complete video requires a lot of time, filming and patience. I like your videos and the way you make them, everything is perfect.
Personally I shoot with an M3 Sniper 700mm cal .25 (25g-40gr) and I noticed that you can change the settings to better group with a round. In your test I think you kept the same setting for the 4 rounds. Also by changing the speed you can improve a round. Sometimes we think that the gun likes a certain round more, it's normal. I am inclined to believe that with all the settings we have in an FX the tests are endless.
Question, to better group do you think that the speed differences are the most important... I am inclined to believe that yes.
Thanks for your comment 🙂
This is one of those videos that takes time to make, but luckily the gun is easy to work with.
The only slug that have used the same setting on from start to the end of the 16 groups is the 16 gr Zan. For the rest I have made small adjustments along the way. And as u suggest, finding the perfect velocity is very important. Rails, carbon sleeves and so on are also important, but velocity is still my first priority 🙂
When testing a slug I run through a velocity range from aprox 860-1020 fps and along the way there are many "right" velocities. Recently I started to use lower velocities for better consistancy 👍
@@VikingAirgunner use lower velocities for better consistancy it is a good idea, work for me.
@@gaetanvallee I used to say that any velocity below 980 fps was feminine, but I guess that I am passed that now 😂
@@VikingAirgunner lol, me i love 860fps 👌
@@gaetanvallee Thats about where I am at with 20 gr H&N.
What ammo are you using?
As usual; a great professional video :-)
Thanks man 🤗
hello peter are you shooting these all at the same Fps?
All the velocities are mentioned in the video 🤗
Nice 👍😊 super gun 💯👌👌👌☑️
Where did you get the 700mm liner?
I asked for it when I ordered it 😇
Your running two regulators in that M4 right?
Yes I installed the standard FX 1st stage reg 🙂
I do not want NSA slugs to fly well, solely on their elevated price. Not like i am a hater here.
Going shooting very soon, 13 gr Zans in the bag 🙂
BTW almost ordered 10 tins of 13gr KOs, but then i chickened out and ordered Zans, will be here Monday.
PS did i miss you telling speed for the H&Ns ?
Price is not that different. 122 dkr for Zan and 133 for NSA.
And looking at the heavier slugs the price of one slug is for 15 gr NSA 0,3325 dkr and 0,3485 dkr for 16 gr Zan. So NSA is cheaper.
20 vs 20.5 gr Zan is 0,4066 pr pop and 0,4433 for NSA.
So it is not that much of a difference.
Still the KO are doing a serious job for at 0,225 dkr a pop 😎
Hej Peter hvilken hastighed skød du 16gr H&N med ?
875..skyder dem selv ved ~890-900 super præcise op til 50m
How much cost just like your
I'm interested
Not a good scattershot. You can get a lot more out of this rifle.
