@@icetealemon2122 To me it's the feeling that everything comes and goes, but there is still peace in knowing and accepting that. It's like the Japanese concepts of 'mono-no-aware' and 'wabi-sabi' explained without words.
Same. I always liked seeing water towers simply standing there, being majestic and being very useful. Also it's a very tall and large thing falling over, which with a few of these videos that made me super nervous.
Demolition videos are usually very satisfying to watch. But there's something profoundly sad about a water tower collapse. Maybe it's because it's such a harmless and helpful structure. Maybe it's because it looks a bit like a person. But when I see that giant head hit the ground and those unexpectedly flimsy legs buckle, my heart just breaks.
There's something so ethereal, surreal and dream-like about this video i literally could put all the words in the world to describe why/how and it would still feel like it wasn't enough. For starters, this doesn't feel sad, but it has a distinct melancholic sympathy within it. The whole event also doesn't feel natural or artificial, it just feels like it is. Like something that shouldn't really happen but it is after all. A distant memory of something that you didn't really experience, of a time that hasn't really passed, of a place you haven't been to, of something you don't think about at all. But still you seem to remember it. Best i can describe it is a mysterious entity in a parallel space just going like: "You're not supposed to see this. But since you are, make yourself comfortable." Or maybe i should stop looking at Water Towers falling over a slice-of-life anime soundtrack. Maybe.
I always loved how deep Nichijou let us think about ourselves. This shows us that in oder to make progress in life and to create something new, you sometimes have to let go of the things you love even if it's painful. Never give up following your dreams!
I am already 4 months into the Quarantine. Seeing this while listening to the quiet but alluring music is like achieving apotheosis in the middle of disaster, chaos, and incongruency. Nichijou is a gift that just keeps giving. Bless that Anime.
I think the most unsettling thing is that, instead of gallons upon gallons pouring out gloriously, it just releases dust. It's unnatural, like it was dead inside before outside.
As a kid I was always scared at how much demolition there'd be if these huge water towers were to fall, but to my surprise at lot of them fall like they just need a good night's rest lol
haven't seen a fall of water tower or anything of that sort in person, but i always thought it would be more... cartoon-y? either something along the lines of shattering like glass or just in general, something that has more impact, not this serene fall and calm landing, probably the ost is carrying this feeling even harder
Videos like these give me vibes of the Teletubbies, or Blue's Clues, where in the middle of a colorful and happy show you'd be presented with a more realistic footage of things happening in the "real" world. It was an uncanny kind of contrast.
"And, scattered about it, some in their overturned war-machines, some in the now rigid handling-machines, and a dozen of them stark and silent and laid in a row, were the Martians-dead!-slain by the putrefactive and disease bacteria against which their systems were unprepared; slain as the red weed was being slain; slain, after all man's devices had failed, by the humblest things that God, in his wisdom, has put upon this earth."

Poor Water Towers. They must be so tired if they're all passing out like that.
Heatstrokes be like
That's why we must keep our water tanks hydrated
Let them rest. Standing for a decade is bound to take its toll on you..

That would be the real punchline.

To me, it’s because they’re empty. You’d expect something to come out, but after all that, it just crumples, nothing to give...

This is so sad
I think I get sad because I almost never get to see the water pouring out :(
Thabk you for syncing the fall to the music
The only Helvetica Standart with different song
FYI
Helvetica standard - sono 3
That's the ost name
It's the 3rd sono my friend :)

There is another.
Why does no one use the 1st sono? :(

I like the chilling music
It's a really good song, Sono 3 from the nichijou ost
Correction: It’s a really good show and song!
This is astonishingly close in tone the actual helvetica standard segments from nichijou. God tier meme.

This is honestly really creepy. It’s just towers collapsing with *that* music, and I’m watching this at 1 in the morning.
It's so sad to see such peaceful creatures get senselessly slaughtered for their steel
For just 60 cents a day, you too can help join the fight to stop water tower abuse
