I quit Wrath because my guild fell apart. Half the guild stopped raiding in anything but GDKPs and half the guild wanted to raid normally. After that I could not find a single pug that wasn't a GDKP. I had decent gear at the time (phase 1) and couldn't get in unless I was a buyer and I refuse to pay for gear so I was SoL. I love that SoD banned GDKPs and I hope it continues into Classic+

Couldnt agree more. GDKP ruined the economy and made ppl buy waaaay more gold. I know not all have the time to grind 1000gs the old way neither do i, but then be poor or find a easy gold grind.

Instead of GDKPs, raids should be designed in the way that it is worth to do raids. Like token system. I have always thought it is actually weird that bosses drop items that humanoid characters can use. Do you really think Ragnaros is carrying plate belt or Onyxia is carrying one-handed axe.
its not fixable when gold buying is this easy and accesable. Any noob can just get boosted to 60 , join a gdkp and buy everything. It makes the gear in Raids feel mroe rewarding because u know people had to actually work for it and not get carried by full BIS min maxers
Keep them banned, too many of them devolved in raiders and raid leader pressuring people to pay way more than needed, or people attempting to manipulate the price just to suck all your gold. I don't miss this greedy pos behaviour.
I'm not impresssed by Blizzard's BS about ban waves and not wanting to let the botters know how the bots were detected since, in the end, it does not work. The bots are still there, still farming, the botters still selling gold, Jim Bob III still buying. I see them and report them all the time on Hardcore, but it does not matter because Blizzard is making no proactive effort to stop them. They seem content with this status quo. I don't think GDKP even exists on Hardcore, yet the bots are there. Clearly GDKP has little of anything to do with it. This company is poorly run in this regard. It's designed to make lots of money for shareholders, not to make the best online game experience.

GDKPs are unironically the best way to gear IF gearing if your primary focus. No worrying about corrupt loot councils No worrying about losing your DKP progress if the guild dies or you get kicked. SR is just trash. Plain and simple. All your progress is permenant.

So many people still buy gold to play sod. Some people might not, but the vast majority of dad gamers buy gold to afford everything from boes to consumes to whatever else there might be. Incursion inflation injected millions of gold into the economy on most servers, so the whole "gdkp would cause inflation" premise seems a bit far fetched. There is quite literally no reason to pug or play alts in sod anymore. The only pugs you can find are 50/50 on whether they clear...and then there's like 10% chance that you get loot in the successful ones. A gigantic waste of time for many involved. At the end of the day, players should join a guild if they want to raid and do not want to interact with GDKP. Those that want to pug, should be allowed to partake is whatever system they find the easiest to form/organize/accomplish said raids. GDKP does incentivize gold buying, but lets be honest, classic wow would've died long ago if it weren't for gold buying. If you value a populated server with a community at all, then you should not be demonizing something that a massive swathe of the community participates. The reality is that we have jobs/lives that preclude us from farming for hundreds of hours like we once might have been able to. Many would rather simply buy gold and raid with their friends. The average wow classic gamer is in their 30s now and is likely seeing their amount of "play time" decreasing drastically given families/jobs/no more covid lockdowns.
You can make enough gold each week for consumes including flasks and pots by simply using professions, transmutes, and gold that drops off the bosses in MC. No one needs to buy gold unless your spending on things you don't need like the 0.5 welfare gear. GDKP will just give an unfair advantage in the economy to people who play with alts than otherwise, and not everyone has lots alts or buys gold. GDKP might force those who don't buy gold to do so in order to afford what they could without it. If you wanted gear on your alt, then have your alt join a guild with a lockout. We all know the real reason. You want to farm and buy gold on alts. Also, it makes the raid gear more rewarding when others don't get it by being boosted with GDKP carries and buying gold.

Successful raids take time to create, if people want pugs, you need to incentivize the organizers to create raids somehow. And I hate to break it to you. People are buying gold so they don’t have to do dailies at all and can afford FR gear/consumes/etc. GDKP may worsen the gold buying, but it’s still very prevalent.

For me, this is the best thing that they removed gdkp . I really had fun playing Classic Era, until I started raiding and realized the only way to raid is gdkp... totally killed my interest in the game and I was so happy when they banned it in SoD. I play SoD since day 1 and im still having fun, I hope they keep the same thing for Classic+ if it ever comes out.

never having done a gdkp, I don't swim in gold, I think I've probably only amassed less than 3k in SoD over this year. perhaps a bit more but definitely less than 4k. somehow people are making 100-300 gold divied up between 20 to 40 other players.... meaning 100-300 gold was spent per person in total... meaning at least someone spent more or double.... also... does everyone get a share of the pot equally? if so then if you bid 300g and a lot of others bid a lot - you could still go +100 gold after all is said and done and someone not bidding would earn 400g. honestly I would join a gdkp with a bid ceiling. lets say top bid is 250 gold and people who bid that roll on the equipment... or just make a deal between themselves... what I dislike is the notion that I could go to a raid, perform well, the item I want drops ... but just because my wallet isn't big enough I lose out on the item. if it was chance, I could just blame that, but it isn't....
BRING BACK GDKP - Start a anti-gold buying movement amongst the player base and put up a board that shows players that get banned for buying gold. EZ CLAP.

I'm full bis and stopped playing until P5. I dont have a fast mount yet. If we had gdkp I would still raid to get it. If I had a fast mount I would pvp but without fast mount I cant really do AV. Open world farming is pointless. Any mats in open world are way too cheap. Idk if thats because of bots or the undermine real driving down the price. They made everything so easy to get that nothing is worth farming. SoD has been fun but I have no reason to play until next phase.

If only we lived a perfect world... but we don't, so things that should be good for us aren't, because others inevitably abuse it. I actually like the idea of GDKP IF AND ONLY IF all gold put in was legitimately farmed in game, no bots. But we all know those guys in the gym that do steroids 🤣
GDKP decision was a big mistake. Literally stopped me playing all of my alts immediately. Now I have one main and one alt, but don't go on the alt that much because if I have to deal with pugs, just prefer GDKP. We do alt runs sometimes. It is just something I had a habit of from 2019 classic into TBC, had tons of max alts that would just run GDKPs on and my main would run with the main guild as EPGP or MS > OS + SR
I think GDKP got shot for crimes of gold buying and people who think it is a good thing are just coping, this is pretty unpopular opinion but there are still bots and economy is still fucked but now there is no reliable way to get item if you lootcouncil does not think you deserve it, in 2019 classic there was option to get the gold and go GDKP item that you were never ever gonna get from your own guilds lootcouncil.
GDKP has never been a problem in my eyes, doesnt really matter if u have gold or not, if ur a good player u will find a spot for gdkp = farm 1 or 2 weeks and get gold then start buying gear after. some gdkps have had the same people in their runs so the gold just goes around and around. i know alot of people that prefer gdkp over SR runs, since even if you dont win any items you still get gold.
I hate ppl that try to project that gdkp is a reason ppl stop playing a game. Acting like it's a majority problem. When it's a minority problem for the players with loads of gold, from gold buying more often than not. Gdkp's literally incentivise gold buying and gold selling.
Take a look at classic era and see the repercussions of GDKP. Granted, not prices are reasonable again but a year ago before SoD came out It was 400g for a flask on the Pagle cluster
Lets be honest. Gdkps are mostly ok for me. But, goldbuying is a big problem. I respect if u earned gold herbing, mining or whatever, and u do what u want with It. If only we lived a perfect world... but we don't, so things that should be good for us aren't, because others inevitably abuse it. I actually like the idea of GDKP IF AND ONLY IF all gold put in was legitimately farmed in game, no bots. But we all know those guys in the gym that do steroids 🤣
GDKP decision was a big mistake. Literally stopped me playing all of my alts immediately. Now I have one main and one alt, but don't go on the alt that much because if I have to deal with pugs, just prefer GDKP. We do alt runs sometimes. It is just something I had a habit of from 2019 classic into TBC, had tons of max alts that would just run GDKPs on and my main would run with the main guild as EPGP or MS > OS + SR

I think GDKP got shot for crimes of gold buying and people who think it is a good thing are just coping, this is pretty unpopular opinion but there are still bots and economy is still fucked but now there is no reliable way to get item if you lootcouncil does not think you deserve it, in 2019 classic there was option to get the gold and go GDKP item that you were never ever gonna get from your own guilds lootcouncil.

GDKP has never been a problem in my eyes, doesnt really matter if u have gold or not, if ur a good player u will find a spot for gdkp = farm 1 or 2 weeks and get gold then start buying gear after. some gdkps have had the same people in their runs so the gold just goes around and around. i know alot of people that prefer gdkp over SR runs, since even if you dont win any items you still get gold.

I hate ppl that try to project that gdkp is a reason ppl stop playing a game. Acting like it's a majority problem. When it's a minority problem for the players with loads of gold, from gold buying more often than not. Gdkp's literally incentivise gold buying and gold selling.

Take a look at classic era and see the repercussions of GDKP. Granted, not prices are reasonable again but a year ago before SoD came out It was 400g for a flask on the Pagle cluster

Lets be honest. Gdkps are mostly ok for me. But, goldbuying is a big problem. I respect if u earned gold herbing, mining or whatever, and u do what u want with It. Buying gold for real money makes this unfair and in the end, you are against rules and terms. But hey, blizz doesnt care too much about It, imagine the players ...

I will say this time and time again ---- GDKP is absolutely fine.... but if Blizzard doesn't have a system that detects and strictly punishes people who buy Gold... it will be a problem.
So GDKP has to be banned, or Gold Sellers/Buyers need perma-bans.

if everyone moderates themselves and doesn't gatekeep "not good" players/raiders then gdkp would be worth it
it works in china because everyone can moderate themselves accodringly
in NA you have a system where only the "good" players/raiders are hired while you have the people that want to pay to win will fund the entire operation
thus you have goldselling via raid loot system: gdkp
you can't solve it because its up to the people in NA in how they moderate themselves
most players couldn't get into raids because you had the goldselling system that bottlenecked players the only ones that made it are the above average raiders on a consistent schedule
I get that you personally liked gdkps but its up to the players ability to not overdo it and force "good raiders" into an informal social contract in order to be relevant in pve raids
blizzard banned gdkp and the thing that replaced gdkp format are guilds
technically a guild can run a gdkp without it ever being called a gdkp they use discord and they avoid using the term gdkp to avoid any TOS issues
now in order to be relevant in pve raids you have to join a guild that uses discord with mic, must have at least prebis, must know the fights, must be able to do rotations and this is all on the chance you get loot based off rolls
Gdkp is a way for non buyers to get a piece of the bought gold legitimately for playing the fun parts of the game.
